Between a Lincoln Town Car and a Lexus SUV. I wonder if they had an area specifically for cleaning fish, an outdoor area or an area in the garage itself. Again random thoughts. I wondered if Shirley enjoyed fishing from her pier, or if they allowed someone they knew to fish from their pier?

You reminded me of this. Maybe a fish filet knife was used? Very sharp, long and with a fine tip.

What he did not divulge was that the cut was remarkably clean. “It was not the skill of a surgeon,” he would say months later, but “whoever did it took time doing it.” It was as if the collar of Russ Dermond’s T-shirt had been used as a guide for a very sharp knife, the likes of which had not turned up - See more at: http://www.atlantamagazine.com/grea...d-sills-chases-a-killer/#sthash.vRenN3bY.dpuf

The mentioning of Russell's t-shirt collar perhaps being used as a guide(curvature of the collar), for a very sharp knife, well, it reminds me of a sickle, clurit, or scythe perhaps, that has a curved blade, that was perhaps used on Russell.
IMOO.

I have been wondering, since Russell was a World War ll Navy vet, does anyone know where he was stationed?
Was he on a USS LST?
Did he go to the South Pacific?
Was he ever in Indonesia? Mentioning a "clurit" in my previous post, well, I wonder if Russell had any souvenirs?
Or maybe was Russell in Normandy?? Does anyone know?
IMOO.

got to wondering, just WHO would own such as this, sure the avaerage machete maybe but found this

http://scythesupply.com/whyuseascythe.html

Woodlot owners, groundskeepers, landscapers use Bush blades to clear small trees from woods roads and trails, for thinning saplings in a woodlot and at the edges of fields to keep back encroaching brush.

One fellow purchased an old golf course and is clearing it. He finds a scythe the best tool to clear around edges.

keep edges of ponds clear of cattails or other unwanted species (an environmentally sound method of control recommended by the USDA).

and many many more

and then there is the cap block, or solid cinder block

there was talk of landscapers

NOw, weren't there landscapers 2 doors down that week or weekend?

Also, the clurit reminded me of a priates hook, pirate fest coming up on the lakes in june

Commonly used by farmers to maintain fields since the times of the horse-drawn plow, modern sickle bar mowers are available as attachments for riding lawnmowers or as a self-propelled walk-behind machine. Use them in rough weedy places and save your regular mower for the lawn.

The defining characteristic of a sickle bar mower is its ultra-wide blade. The largest models are more than twice as wide as the blade of the largest riding mowers, cutting wide swaths that make quick work of large overgrown lots

http://homeguides.sfgate.com/uses-sickle-bar-mower-93011.html

well, i'm kind of back to the fishing knife or such becaasue i know how easily a razor or sharp knife will easily cut vinyl flooring, vinyl siding and carpet and you can turn the knife as you go

or how about a maxam razor knife, good for whatever, i've cut vinyl and carpet with these

would help to know what kind of knife or tool was used, might go with the cinder block or construction worker/landscaper type or HUNTER, i've seen people use blocks, not on a regular bases, to anchor boats, or hold down tarps

I think the force needed for these would produce more blood spatter than a knife would, more than what we've been led to believe was found. SS said they "took time doing it" which sounds more like a slow, firm slice rather than a quick wack with a scythe or clurit JMO.

A reporter asked if Shirley’s body might have been found sooner had other agencies been brought in. Sills seethed but didn’t show it. He said his deputies and wildlife rangers, among others, had crisscrossed the lake for days. He said Lake Oconee was an “18,000-acre impoundment that covers the breadth of four counties.” “I suppose,” he said, “we could have called in the whole United States Navy.”

I think he is right. I just watched an episode of "Disappeared" about a 25 year old man that went went missing from his home one night next to Lake Lanier. The family searched for weeks and it was suspected that he may have walked a mile to his fathers house and slipped/fell into the lake.

They searched the lake and found nothing, though dogs DID pick up a scent along the bank. Weeks later his body was discovered. That is a case where they pretty much KNEW where the body should be if it was there and they didn't find it. There have been other cases of drownings with multiple witnesses yet the body was not found for days.

there have also been many cases where people have scoured the woods and didnt' find a body that was in the very vicinity all along. I dont think anyone would have found her if she hadn't surfaced, that's a lot of water and dark

maybe that's how he got into the franchise business after the exec clock job, maybe he inherited money, maybe he invested with someone, of course, it's been a long time since the 90's

http://www.history.com/topics/mafia-in-the-united-states

The American Mafia, an Italian-American organized-crime network with operations in cities across the United States, particularly New York and Chicago, rose to power through its success in the illicit liquor trade during the 1920s Prohibition era. After Prohibition, the Mafia moved into other criminal ventures, from drug trafficking to illegal gambling, while also infiltrating labor unions and legitimate businesses such as construction and New York’s garment industry. The Mafia’s violent crimes, secret rituals and notorious characters such as Al Capone and John Gotti have fascinated the public and become a part of popular culture. During the latter part of the 20th century, the government used anti-racketeering

There was a Campone living near the Tedesco family in new york, wonder if that was CAPONE later

Louis Tedesco Russell Dermond's grandfather worked in a clothing factory as a tailor, he OWNED his own home in 1930
