I don't think he looked crazy at all in his pictures. I would be very shocked to think he had done what he had done just by looking at this pictures. That's not what registered. But he should not have been given access to fire arms because you could see he had developmental issues that made him not responsible enough to be given that level of responsibility.

I also agree that a bad picture can give someone a wrong impression. Just like a good picture can give someone a better countenance than they really have.

One of my sisters takes absolutely fantastic pictures but in person is horrid. So I'm not saying pictures always tell the story. They don't.

But I look people in the face and eyes all the time because I rely on lip reading. When you do that all the time you just notice things that others don't notice.
But I'm mindful of preconceptions and stereotypes that I might have. :blushing:

So do I, but looking at a living, mobile face with a whole host of micro-expressions people aren't aware they are making during face-to-face interaction is different to looking at a static, flat, motionless photographic image.

probably around 10am I will go there to see what it is like - if there is no one there at that point I will go look around the shops in Marietta Square for a bit but I will be prepared to stay at the courthouse if necessary..
I hope that is early enough!
I wish I could join you. Darn work, taking away my sleuthing.

As another poster said up thread about getting verified, it's pretty simple procedure. When I was verified for another case, it just took a phone call and some extra details. Verification has its benefits. :)

IDK, could have just been "second breakfast":)

Plus unless we know what the "first breakfast" was.... if the wife was home maybe she made a "healthy" breakfast for him and he wanted something better. I don't think that is the reason in this case but it would be a definite possibility.

I see stunned that he got caught.

I wonder if he's a moody sort? I'm asking because I have been called moody. (I know, right? Me??????!!!!!I prefer to think that I experience all points of the spectrum of emotion.) His mouth seems to naturally go into a frown (the way some peoples' naturally goes into a smile). I mean, his face just seems to naturally fall into a frown.

Cover up his mouth in the photo and look at his eyes and nose. What do his eyes convey?

Well, if he already had breakfast, seems odd to stop for another breakfast on the way to work - unless, as has been speculated it was to manufacture an 'out-of-routine' alibi. And if he claimed to have forgotten that he hadn't dropped Cooper off at daycare how does he explain, when he was supposed to pick him up later, not heading over to do that after work.

By stopping for breakfast, he may have been stalling for time. IMO, he arrived late to work on purpose so the parking lot would be full and employees already inside at work.

Typical HLN.

I'm surprised NG hasn't officially dubbed Justin Harris "Tot Dad" yet. I'm sure she will if this case progresses.

:floorlaugh:

The only time I see NG any more is either on "The Soup" or "The Daly Show" where Joel McHale or Jon Stewart are skewing her. She is quite entertaining in that context.

As a serious "journalist"? :floorlaugh:

Right --

Here is info on verification. Please note that verification is only for those who know a case player or are a professional (re: professional verification). More info below.

ITA with this.

I think he was late on purpose. IMO I think he wanted to make sure nobody saw Cooper too soon to "save" him.

Poor precious baby boy didn't stand a chance.

For those who are going to the hearing today, will you please post details later? I don't have cable so I can't watch it on tv. I'm hoping to find a live feed but I haven't seen confirmation that one will be available. TIA

PITTSBURGH – A Pittsburgh couple has been jailed on child endangerment charges after police say they left the woman's 2-year-old boy outside in a hot, parked car while they drank in a bar.

Police say when someone called to report seeing the boy in the car about 12:45 a.m. Wednesday that it was still 80 degrees with 70 percent humidity outside. Officers reported finding the boy slumped over and unresponsive in the car. He's since been taken to a hospital and is expected to recover

Totally agree, I never much buy into what a reported killer's looks or facial expressions in a photo say about them. I don't read what others say they do about what a person's mood or feelings are at the second the camera captures a given image - too many snapshots of me out there looking like a startled deer in the headlights for one thing. Also, mugshots are never flattering - let's face it, you can be the most gorgeous of celebrities and a police mugshot will make you look like a rabid, wild-eyed chainsaw killer. Have to say I've seen very few pics of this guy with a full-on smiley face but honestly, how he looks in a photo is pretty meaningless to me.

His photo is meaningless to me as well. There is no way anyone can determine a person's personality or psychological profile by looking at a photo. It doesn't matter what your line of work is or has been. Of course, people tend to see what they want to see. IMO

Shedding some light: New evidence expected at Harris hearing today

Kenya Jackson, manager of the magistrate court’s criminal division, said Judge Frank Cox will hear testimony from the officers and detectives who issued the warrant that night.

Officers will present all the evidence they’re willing to share at this point, Jackson said.

“Once the prosecutor gets done asking questions to the witness,” she said, clarifying that the witness, in this case, would be the law enforcement officers, “then defense attorneys have the right to ask questions, and I’m sure they’ll have plenty, just to see if the police department had enough to have warrants issued.”

The hearing will determine whether officers had probable cause to issue Harris’ arrest warrants in the first place, the employee explained, as well as to consider the issue of his bond.

Because the case is still in the warrant status, the court official said Harris could wait six months to a year to be formally indicted.

If the judge feels detectives demonstrate they had probable cause to arrest Harris on charges of felony murder and child cruelty, he will transfer the case to Cobb Superior Court for prosecution, Jackson said.

ETA: There is a lot of information in this article about what to expect today.

Although it has been said that they don't have to prove intent, what if they get a jury member(s) who thinks that knowing you killed your child is punishment enough? What if some think that (however long he is in jail before trial) is a long enough sentence? I think if they want the jury to sentence him to LWOP, it is best that they convince them it was intentional.

I don't think he will speak unless directly asked to speak by the judge. I think he will appear defiant, just like in his mug shot.

Not if he listens to his attorney. Obviously his best bet is to act defeated, broken and very, very sorry.

Any parent in this position should be filled with guilt and remorse. Even if it truly was an "accident" I cannot imagine any other response.

I have never in my life considered suicide, and have been touched by it deeply enough to actually resent people that do it for what it does to those left behind. But, quite honestly, if this happened to me I don't think I could live with it, I just really don't.

There's a photo from the Home Depot 'Treehouse' website that shows their parking lot. The lot is surrounded by trees along the perimeter. My guess is on very hot days the parking spaces closest to the trees would most likely go first, as people would try to park their cars in the shade during the day. All the rest of the parking spaces look like they would be in full sun all day. Poor baby Cooper. :(

So I am going to the court hearing today at 1:30pm. I am going to see what I can learn and pick up from others who attend as much as to see the face of JH and try to work out what he is really thinking. I live around the corner to the court.

Can you get verified, please? That would make a huge difference in how you can post here

The aquarium is fantastic! I love watching the whale sharks. And darn it, I won a 'peppermint pedicure' at a spa in Marietta and was thinking of going over there tomorrow but I'll bet the traffic will be even more horrendous than usual with the swarm of reporters as well as holiday traffic.

We used to take MARTA all the time to go to the airport and it *is* convenient, but after a while we no longer felt safe so now we take a cab. It's sad, because this area desperately needs regional transportation.

My sister lives in Marietta and we always go there for a week every summer. Soooo much to do there! We were there last week. Now I wish we had chosen THIS week for our vacation, I would have gone to the PC hearing for sure!
