The thing is, George is neat, OCD neat. If he had been an accomplice after the fact Caylee would not have been found right by George's house. George would not have been too afraid of snakes and stickers to walk further into the woods either. (The body was so close to the road any roaming dog could have brought a bone home.) Caylee's bones would not have been in the same bag that used to be in Caylee's room. George would not have used the same duct tape that was found over Caylee's mouth on his gas cans. He would not have used that same duct tape to hang "Missing Caylee" posters all over town.

Unless George deliberately framed Casey to get her out of his house the way Caylee was disposed of was sloppy.

As an ex-LE George would know how to dispose of a body so it would never been found. This disposal site clearly has KC written all over it. jmo

Ive always thought that the gas can story, the car chase, and the report about the gas cans are related. Didnt casey once say "they dont even have the timeline right" or something to that effect. I believe george chased her but has the dates wrong. I believe george found those gas cans missing earlier than when he reported them and that something that he saw on the chase possibly prompted him to make the report to see if he could finally get some answers. Maybe he noticed duct tape missing too and was wondering what the world this girl was up to. when cindy found out and told casey about it she hightailed herself over to that house to return those gas cans to avoid being confronted again. but george was there just waiting. I think he got some answers that he possibly ended up putting together when he got that car and how he knew almost immediately that it was caylee and not casey. all imo.

There was no chase at the time GA stated. There E-Zpass records confirms this. GA was mistaken and may have confused it with an incident that happened prior to June. I believe this is in the myths thread. Thanks

GA hears garage door go up & KC comes in dressed in nice slacks & top - KC told GA she was only home for about 10 min - to get some things & headed back to work (per FBI interview)

I snipped this from your post, AAfromAA, because I wanted to respond only to this thought... why would Casey be wearing nice slacks and top, work attire, in the middle of the day when she hadn't been parading around in front of her parents for 9 days at this point, and had no intention of parading around in front of them for who knows how long? Who is she trying to kid with the work clothes in the middle of the day, when everyone else is either in school or at work? Nobody. That's who. If she was spending her days doing who knows what, she sure as heck wasn't doing it in work slacks. She wore shorts and a tank to Target. I don't believe this whole bit about her coming home on the 24th wearing work clothes, not for a second.

George very well could have been next to Casey's Pontiac on June 24 and not smelled anything. Tony didn't smell anything when he was next to Casey's car on June 23. Catherine S., didn't smell anything when she was by the Pontiac peering into the windows on June 27-30. When asked how close she was to the Pontiac, Catherine S. said very close.

JW: Oh, okay. Did you smell anything uhm, different about the car?

CS: No, no, huh-huh (negative).

BBM - a little off topic, but didn't Tony not get out of his own car when he picked her up from the Amscot? I thought he said she was already out of her car standing next to it and she just got into his car, so he probably never even rolled down his window or parked or anything.

OOOoooh, Gnat--good catch! Yet another piece of GA's story that just ain't right. :snooty:

I'm loving this thread, and before I finish reading I wanted to interject a thought I just had - what if the duct tape found on Caylee was taken from the gas cans? Hope not too OT for this thread.

Hey Gma K! IIRC, one end of one piece of the duct tape found on/with Caylee matched to an end of the piece that was used to cover the vent on GA's precious gas can. Let me dive back into the duct tape threads and see if I can prove my recollection right or wrong for us...

June 23 is the day Tony broke into the Anthony shed with a tire iron (with Casey's permission). Tony said he brought Casey back to her car from the Anthony house and got out the gas cans to put gas in Casey's car. Casey insisted that SHE would put the gas in her car. So Tony just handed Casey the gas cans and she did her own gas pouring. Tony said she opened her trunk herself and that he saw her putting the gas cans in the Pontiac before he got into his Cherokee. LE asked Tony if he smelled anything and Tony said no.

The person I believe she was trying to deceive would have been Tony. He thought she had a job. So she had to dress every morning and leave as if going to work, unless she talked him into staying in bed and skipping a class in which case she had her backup lie which is her job permits her to work from home. jmo

Of all the stories and alibies, one thing remains consistent. Casey was guarding that trunk no matter what.

I always thought since GA first told the gas can story that he knew it was ICA that stole the gas cans from the shed, but by that time he was so concerned about not seeing Caylee for a week or so that maybe he wanted to get LE involved. I also always thought that when ICA showed up in the driveway that day she didnt want dad digging in the trunk because Caylee was still in there. And that was the reason the body was dumped so hastily right down the street. I just always had the feeling that Caylees body was dumped there immediatly after her leaving the driveway that day. That timeline doesn't fit with what we know about the last sighting of Caylee I know, and the decomp timeline, but just can't shake that feeling. Also I agree that Casey was dressed up that day for work because she had her friends believing she had to show up at work that day.

You might want to revisit his state deposition. Starts around page 160 with the gas can purchase. IMO he was lying, is lying and trying to cover the bases, badly.

It always helps when we can review the transcripts again imo - State depo

JA and GA are discussing State Exhibit 3 which is a photograph of a gas can. Photo taken on August 1, 2008.

Q=JA / A=GA / Me=me and BBM

A It looks like a gas can.
Q Yours?
A Yes - a good part of 20 years old.
Q Okay, Now, we're going to get to this incident later, but was that one of the gas cans that was involved in the incident on the 24th with Casey taking the gas cans?
Was that one of them?

A There was a gas can removed from my shed. Yes.

Q Was it a cylindrical metal one like that?
A Uh-huh.
Ms. Burdick inserts herself here and reminds GA to say yes or no.
A Yes. I mean, this is the gas can. It looks -- like the one that was taken from my shed.
Q Now that gas can appears to have a piece of duct tape on it. Do you recognize that?

A I didn't put the duct tape on there. I recognize this can, but I didn't put that duct tape on there. I wouldn't do a sloppy job like that.
Q Have you ever seen that piece of duct tape on that can before?
A Not this particular size, no. No, sir.
Q Have you seen that duct tape in a different size?

A I put the duct tape on there one time myself because the plastic cap that was on there had broken off. But when I did it, it was very methodical when I put it on there because it was very neat.

I didn't do that there . . . It's too big. I wouldn't have done that.

Me - GA goes on to say that he is uncertain if the duct tape on the can is from his house.

Q When you got this can from Casey on the 24th, did it have duct tape on it?
A Did not.
Q Did it have duct tape on it the last time you saw it before she took it?
A As far as I can remember, yes.
Q So it had duct tape and then when she brought it back, it didn't?
A Yes
Q So how did the duct tape get on it, do you know?
A Your guess is as good as mine.
Q What did you do with it after ...
A Put it back in the shed -- where it was taken from

Q Did you use that gas can between the 24th and the 1st?
A No, I did not. I went out and bought new cans.
Q Why did you do that?
A Because I needed to get gas for the lawnmower and stuff that I had and I didn't have these in my possession.
Q Oh so did you get gas on the 24th, you're saying or bought the gas cans on the 24th?
A I think a day or two after that, I went to -- and purchased a couple new gas cans.
Q Okay Casey brought the gas cans back on the 24th and you put them in the shed. Why did you go and buy new ones if those were in the shed?
A Because I purchased them just prior to that. When they were gone --I didn't see my shed was broken into until the 24th.
Q Right
A I had purchased cans prior to that, two plastic cans I still have in my possession, Jeff.
Q Okay. But why did you buy them if you did not yet know that these were missing?
A Okay. I'm going to be very, very blunt with you. Don't try to confuse me.
Q I'm not trying to.
A Number one, I --number one is, I did not put this tape on this can, number one; okay?
Number two is, when I found out that my shed had been broken into on the -- when I reported it on the 24th, okay, it's then these -- I did I did not see Casey with these cans. The report was made after that, if I'm not mistaken.

Q Okay. I thought you said a few moments ago that this did appear to be one of the cans that she returned to you on the 24th.
A I made the report on the 24th.
Q Right
A I made the report of the theft on the 24th, okay?
Q And that's the day she returned the cans to you?
A Right. And it was after that is when I went out and purchased a couple other cans because, if I'm not mistaken, the sheriff's department came, like you said, on August 1st and removed these from my house, so I had to get new cans again. So your date and my date might be a little bit off but, yes. And -- yes.

Me - I stopped at line 7 on page 166 which is also pdf. 166. BBM.

Me - If anybody can make sense of the above conversation, more power to you.

Loved how George gets all crazy and tries to accuse JA of trying to confuse him? George is going to end up blowing up on the stand when he trips on all his lies... of course, it will be the SA trying to confuse him? :banghead:

After spending an inordinate amount of time on this issue, here were my conclusions:

Short version--gas can tape piece not directly connected to any of the other pieces. :(

I think what George was trying to say was, he reported the gas cans missing the 24th, then went and bought new ones. After he bought the new ones on the 24th, KC showed up, same day, with his old ones. According to George, the old cans were missing the usual duct tape when he retrieved them, and he did not replace the tape because he had new cans. According to George, new duct tape was placed on the old cans by someone other than him. My take is George wanted as much distance as possible from that duct tape.

ETA: Left out that George stated he bought a second new set of gas cans on or after Aug. 1, because LE had taken the ones he had - the old ones, and the ones bought on June 24.

Here is GA talking to Scott B. of the FBI about gas can day which was June 24, 2008. They begin talking about the gas cans on pdf. pg. 38. George has his story down now ~ it's very, very long but if anyone wants to read it ~ it's especially good to read if you're an insomniac  you'll be asleep in no time.
