Santa Fe County police discovered the body of the two-time Oscar winner, 95, and 63-year-old Arakawa — his wife of 34 years and their dog — on Wednesday afternoon.

No foul play is suspected and no cause of death has been announced.

That’s why I was thinking carbon monoxide. What would kill 2 people and one dog without it being murder? If you are going to commit suicide you would hopefully give the dog to a family member. You don’t want to force them to eat you or anything. I know that’s a bad visual. You would want your dog safe. Unless you’re Hitler in a bunker then your dog might not be safe. I’m thinking something killed everyone.

The articles I'm reading say no indication of foul play. That's inclining me to something like CO as well.

Maybe it was due to CO.
But he has looked quite frail in recent pictures I've seen. I sincerely hope his wife, if she was his care giver, didn't suffer a medical episode of some kind and GH was unable to summon help, resulting in both him and the dog dehydrating/starving.

I think everyone looks frail at ninety five.

I don't think she would have been doing everything for him. I imagine they would have had some kind of nurse coming by every day or two to help. These were people of means, not an elderly couple living remotely and frugally.

What a shock to hear this. One of the best actors ever.
Worries me that the wife is only 64. Could it have been an accident? And the poor dog.
Perhaps his wife had a medical incident, leaving both Gene and the dog to their own (limited) devices? If she cared for both, and both were reliant on her well being, I could see this scenario.

Sad news. Gene was an amazing performer and will always be a legend.

I agree this sounds like CO. I am curious if they may have accidentally left the car running in the garage. It's easy to do with the push button ignitions. I have one and will have to check to see if it will shut off automatically after a set number of minutes if I were to forget to push the button to turn it off.
