'Gene Hackman update as cops probe 'chilling' body camera footage from death scene

Police investigating the death of Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy are combing through hours of body-cam footage from the responders who arrived at the scene'

"Chilling body camera footage is expected to be released of the Gene Hackman death scene.

The sheriff’s office in Santa Fe, New Mexico, is combing through footage now from the ten deputies who arrived at the scene. One of the key pieces of information to establish from the footage was to what extent the property was secured. It comes amid conflicting reports about the door being left open or not.'

The Irish Star could have run with this?

"The sheriff’s office is expected to release body camera footage from the scene in the coming weeks. "

Updates expected in mystery deaths of Gene Hackman and his wife — including possible clues in what caused them
Its in other sources too.

What we aren't told is whether the housekeeper rang Betsy. If not, why not?
(From the end of the last thread)

True, we aren't told that. And I think I probably would have called myself when a 1-2 month check-in call didn't arrive (with the last call reportedly being in Oct so one would have been expected in Dec at the latest.) But that really is an entirely separate question from what the DM reported. And IMO not reporting on a different question doesn't make the reporting the DM did do about the housekeeper/caretaker's comments unreliable.

As multiple people have said, we really don't know much about the "reclusive" dead couple and the arrangements they had with various people including their families. It may be BA asked the housekeeper/caretaker to call only if there was an emergency with her mother. It may be the longtime housekeeper/caretaker isn't one to take the initiative anyway. We just don't know.

IMO:
There also could be a cultural respect aspect that the caregiver didn't call BA, that is if she hadn't.
BA is reported to be of Japanese descent and the housekeepers name "Keiko" is Japanese origin.

Chilling? It won't show bodies of humans or dogs, nor should it.

imo the caregiver didn't show any respect at all, of any type in seeking her 15 minutes of fame from the media in burning both BA and her mother. Whose on earth's business was it - the publicly detailed failing of the 91 year old patient"s memory. Maybe BA had excellent personal reasons for keeping the blabbermouth out of her information loop

Not criticizing you for your post, but what kind of loving caretaker does that.

Agreed.

The caregiver, presumably, did not try to contact BA but had no issue running to the media to let them know that BA had not checked in on her dementia riddled mother 4 months.

Not that it truly matters, but was BA an only child? Could there have been an other child checking in on the mother and that is why BA had stopped making such an effort?
If I remember correctly, didn't the caretaker say the BA called to check in every one or two months? Maybe things with Gene had gotten so difficult - since he was going downhill, reportedly - that she was leaving the monthly check ins to another sibling?

As discussed previously, what do we think about it possibly being Hantavirus as a cause of death for Betsy, Gene, or both?

Though rare, it is deadly. About 1/3 of people who contract it will perish from the disease. https://www.npr.org/2012/08/29/160265988/two-die-after-hantavirus-outbreak-in-yosemite If Gene and Betsy have such a large house(s), 9,000 square feet, with three dogs running in and out all day, I could see deer mice getting in.

I still lean towards BA having a medical event first, due to her thyroid meds, or possibly cardiac event. I guess we will see this afternoon. Do you think they will release a cause of death, or just an update?

Edit: From the article linked above

Dr. Pierre Rollin, of the Centers for Disease Control, says the symptoms are similar to the flu, at first. But very quickly, shortness of breath sets in. There's no treatment for the virus itself. Rollin says patients need to be hospitalized quickly.

DR. PIERRE ROLLIN: Just putting the people on respirator help them. Otherwise, you have this failure - respiratory failure, and the patient can die very quickly.

Betsy was in top shape, a fitness professional. To explain her death under the circumstances is tough.

I wish we knew who those scattered pills were for.
Would they be able to tell if he had a broken hip in that initial autopsy? would they check for that?
I feel like he fell and couldn't get back up.

No, but I would have expected them to ask.
