Since we know for a fact that Raven embezzled, I would be of the opinion he really wouldnt care what the church thought about his online activities. I mean surely the church would frown upon embezzlement, right? Im thinking Raven was not a devout Mormon, since his actions show just the opposite.
He had extra-marital affairs (possibly with both men and women), embezzled, was seperated from his wife, posts on kinky websites. Just doesnt appear as if he gives a rip about what the church thinks.
This all rings true to me, for what I know anyway. And I certainly agree as far as the embezzlement goes. Any church, of any denomination would frown upon criminal activity, of any kind.

Do we know if Raven was raised a Mormon? That his family is Mormon? Or, did he convert? I feel like we do know as fact that Janet's family is indeed Mormon. Just wondering if Raven converted upon meeting Janet, etc?

Mr. Allgood....

I think your site is informative, intelligent and unbiased. Keep up the GREAT work....and thank you.

He was when he lived in Utah, before he and Janet were married. His mother and step-father are members of the LDS church. I think he had some influence from the church while growing up, but I'm not sure. I'll check and post more later.

edited to add: my husband says he's pretty sure Raven grew up in the LDS church.

What exactly is the hot or not? Is it a dating thing? A way to connect with other online people? A way to have anonymous encounters online?

IMO, it's the Home of the Vain!

From what I gather, you go on that site and post a picture of yourself. Then people can randomly look at the various pictures on the site, and, RATE each one, on a scale of 1 (the NOT) to 10 (the HOT).

There is also a feature I saw where you can actually use the site to somehow actually chat with someone who's picture you saw...

So many of his actions are not consistent with Mormon standards. I don't even know where to start. But I also have questions about Janet's comittment too. There were pictures of her in sleeveless shirts and shirts that show the midriff, and after you go through the temple, that's a no-no because of the covenants that you make. However the reports that she had been counseling with her bishop about leavning Raven show that either I'm wrong and she had always been comitted or that maybe she was starting to get reactivated. *This is only my opinion.

Thanks for the explanation.

LOL! You know, the sad thing is, when I first saw that on Raven's web page, and went to that site, I swear I almost DID sign up, so I could have better access to the site. It REQUIRES you to post your picture. And, as much as I enjoy the sleuthing deal (let's see, I have accounts now on the VX boards, the motorcycle boards, who knows where else...), I had to draw the line at "Hot or Not."

Alright, how come Greta's On The Record link isn't on our media thread guys? This WAS big.....something you Websleuthers accomplished from this forum. I guess I'll go search it and see if I can find it and then ask you all how I get it to the media thread:doh:

Someone tell me if you find something about Janet on there. After the first conversation that it was on Greta, I went to go look and all I found there was Michael Jackson stuff. I was hoping that there would be anything, but no mention of anyone from NC there that night.

I think that it was the 16th or 17 of May that it was on. Good luck!

I admit I know very little (almost nothing) about the Mormon faith, so dont understand the "going thru the temple" reference you have made, but I would suppose it could be, as with many, Janet may not have been a truely "devout" Mormon, yet when life got her down, she turned to the one place she knew she could find comfort? I am not making a judgement about her spirtitual life, as it isnt my place to judge anyone on their beliefs. I do know however, that people of all faiths tend to call on thier God when times get rough, even if they dont live the spiritual life on a day to day basis.

Good point, and people do change their beliefs and priorities from time to time, regardless of personal challenges. Church and religion may have been in the background at different times in her life.

I went to the crime scene today. It was raining, slightly, so I was a bit rushed in moving about the site. I got an eerie feeling as I approached the house. It is indeed sheltered from the road - completely. There was no indication that a crime had taken place there - no crime scene tape or anything. As I walked up the gravel driveway, I observed the creek, which is actually just a big ditch with moving water. I tried to take different shots of it, though again, I was rushed because of the rain. There's a dismantled desk in the driveway, which I included in the photos posted below. This may very well be remnants of the one that was in the office. I kept my distance, for some reason. There are several trees, as you can see in the pictures, which appear to be marked for removal. Perhaps the owner is doing this to improve the view and security of the home. The back yard is fenced, and I didn't enter it. There was a storage shed in the back yard, which I photo'd, though I didn't include it - didn't feel it was relevant. I saw the infamous side door and included a shot of it. I also climbed the steps of the front porch to find a pair of soccer shoes, which may be Janet's. They appear to be feminine in style. I peered through the windows to see that carpet had been ripped from the stairs - perhaps the entire house. The home was completely empty. It was apparent that no one is living there. There was a large trashcan outside, though I didn't think to open it. I also wanted to open the mailbox, but I really didn't want to tamper with federal property. This was a virgin experience for me. I hope the pictures provide some visualization. Thanks Golfmom for letting me use your photobucket account! Sorry these aren't in sequence. It would probably tell a better story. I took multiple photos of the creek/ditch because of our indepth discussion of the murderer cleaning up there. From my viewing of the scene, it wouldn't have been my first choice of places to clean up.

I also registered on the LDS dating site for info. You can actually specify your church activity and "temple worthiness". If Raven were using this site to meet others, he could determine their commitment to the church's standards. I don't think it is far-fetched to assume he would want to meet people that share his background (and yes, he did have an LDS background), regardless of whether or not they were "practicing" mormons.

Still going through profiles...

I don't know why this didn't dawn on me earlier, but I emailed Greta the link to the Christmas video.

Munch -

You seem to have known Raven and Janet, at least somewhat....

I was wondering, would you mind sharing what your thoughts were when you first heard about Janet's murder, or in the next few days?

If that's personal, I certainly respect that as well...

Thanks.
