Georgia Dome and CNN Center Hit by Tornado

There was nothing bad in my part of GA...45 mins N of Atlanta. A small storm this morning, other than that nothing.

I just checked the wxia weather reporting and the new system coming from Alabama is expected to hit the metro Atlanta area...my area at 4:07 PM so you didn't say where you lived north but you might want to track it to be safe.

LE says tornado just spotted west of Atlanta

That cell will be over Atlanta in abouit half an hour.

They said debris from yesterdays storm will be picked up by this. Making it more dangerous. Making a beeline for downtown.

Heading just south of downtown. College park and Eastpoint.

4 minutes to downtown. Baseball size hail? That would damage alot. Cars, people.

Do you see the tails coming off the black clouds? Scary! Looks like several twisters starting!

Hey you posters that live in Georgia around the tornado areas...I love you guys, and would never ask you to leave the forum...BUT get the heck off the internet and run like hell to safety!!

(That's what I'd be doing,)

Good Lord! what a weird day! spent a bit in the basement, sirens keep going off, but thankfully so far we've been in between the worst of it. They're more coming, so all you Georgians keep your eye on WSBTV - so far they've been great.

Thank y'all so much for your prayers! Keep em coming for a bit longer!

I feel SO guilty...hubby and I were coming home from a grocery store in Winder, GA, when radio announcements announced a tornado WARNING for Barrow Co...Winder, GA for the main part.
So I pull over in a parking lot, all excited, screaming for hubby to "look for it, look, look!"
I thought a warning meant a touchdown....never saw a thing, or heard a thing after the 1st announcement for that matter.
I have always wanted to see a tornado and have dreamed of going on a storm-chasing tour...
But then I click on the local news and see fatalities...and well I feel sick...I treated this seriousness as anything BUT serious....I started thinking, I am an obsessive book and scrapbook collective...God how I would go to pieces if my things were ruined...
I feel so ashamed.

It's ok, I was in the basement peering out the door and thinking how cool the black sky looked, and what I would do without my "stuff". There's no telling or accounting what goes through your head under stress like that.

I'm glad you're safe. :blowkiss:

I have to agree. It has been a very stressful day watching the radar and learning of the new disasters occurring. It is natural for us to project what would happen in our own situation. I do know that my purse has been in the bathtub all day packed with essentials in case my building got hit. LOL! Not really funny but it seems to be over now and we can sleep well tonight.

Wow, the post you all made today gave me the chills.
Please be safe. I watched some of the weather coverage on Fox That storm looked fierce!
