Authorities in the German city of Magdeburg say at least two people were killed and dozens were injured after a car plowed into a busy Christmas market what officials called a deliberate attack.

BERLIN (AP) — A car drove into a group of people at a Christmas market in the eastern German city of Magdeburg on Friday, German news agency dpa reported.

The driver of the car was arrested, the agency said, citing unidentified government officials in the state of Saxony-Anhalt.

There was no immediate information on whether people were killed or injured.

Magdeburg, which is west of Berlin, is the state capital of Saxony-Anhalt and has about 240,000 inhabitants.

Just waiting for the media to catch up, but the video is horrific. If you told me the driver rammed that crowd doing 100 mph, I’d believe you.

A regular occurence in Europe now sadly, all these attacks do is drive people to voting for extremist parties, either Islamic terrorism or false flag to boost the far right

RIP to the victims and full recovery wished for the injured

I’d be very surprised if the number of dead didn’t settle at 20 or more.

Unless it was a mechanical failure it is good the driver was arrested and will likely spend the rest of his worthless life in jail as opposed to getting his 72 virgins in paradise

Hideous. Every year I have a nervous feeling about Christmas markets. Sick of these morons committing attacks like this.

Too many of these attacks, they seem to happen on an almost annual basis, surely it is time authorities put up concrete bollards in areas where markets are taking place with not enough gaps to fit a car through or hold them in sports stadiums/arenas etc where a car could not make a difference

It’s a really simple solution. It doesn’t make sense at all that they didn’t do that here.
