The following was raised at the recent trial. Mystifying though whatever the reasons why are tremendously obscure. Quite obviously there is absolutely nothing there of any relevance to the matters in hand involving the prosecution of vicious rapes and sexual abuse of minors.
My purpose in raising it is to give an indication of police procedures as they are and not as some think they are.
It is naïve to imagine that investigators have much say about who or what they should investigate. They can only act on information received in most cases; particularly when information concerns the dark denizens of the world of paedophilia.
The rest is following evidence until there is nothing left to follow.
The phone line mentioned in court had been in existence since 2011. One surmises quite a few calls were left over that period, some anonymous and some not.
As in this case the content would be routinely checked and appropriate enquiries would follow. This process would result in individuals being eliminated from inquiries or becoming persons of interest and subject to deeper investigation. By definition, that process was put into action resulting in CB becoming the
only suspect of three national police forces.
That situation could only occur if the back-up evidence was present and strong enough to justify building a case.
This was is only time this has happened since the inauguration of the contact number in 2022, if anyone else was suspected in the past they have been ruled out; CB hasn't been.
Perhaps if the Braunschweig court had paid more attention to the remit of the five criminal offences offences as they should have been instead of playing cops and robbers with a case they knew nothing about and which was none of their concern, we might be a bit further down the road to justice than we are now.

DC D, 49, told the court that CB’s former friend, HB, who knew him in the Algarve in the mid-2000s, gave officers a tip-off. HB claimed the German told him during a conversation that "she did not scream" when the pair discussed M.
"Back then we still had a public phone number which was publicised around the
world," DC D said. "Members of the public could ring in information in relation to Operation Grange, the MM investigation. One of my jobs was to check the answer phone messages. On May 18, I checked the answer phone and there was a message.
"It was from a male by the sound of his voice, he spoke good English and he asked to speak to DE (private investigator). He said he had information and he left a Greek mobile number. I then rang this Greek mobile number and spoke to a male I now know to be H L B. He referred to himself as L and he gave information in relation to the M M investigation."
DC D shared the information with German and Portuguese authorities, sparking the probe into CB.
