@Hygge , is this new witness in the docu.
No he isn’t. Maybe has something to do with the window as it was said CB found it open and in the crimewatch summary Kate described she found it open later

Girl suspect on trial for sexual offenses

Actually, the trial is not about Madeleine McCann, who disappeared from an apartment in Portugal in 2007. Nevertheless, the child, who has been missing for 17 years, is a constant topic: Christian Brückner (47), who is accused of five sexual offenses, is also suspected of kidnapping and murdering Maddie.
Now ex-Knacki Laurentiu C. suddenly surprised in the witness stand with this claim: Brückner had also confessed to him that he had kidnapped Maddie!
Prison buddy becomes a witness

In 2019, Brückner and Laurentiu C. sat together in the JVA Braunschweig. Several times, according to the witness, Brückner had visited him in his cell and drank coffee with him. Because C. stayed away from other Knackis, Brückner, who had been convicted of child abuse, considered him a pedophile. And therefore began to tell.

rape.
“He said he owned a bus, took children with him and abused them. He said: 'You can also keep them for two or three days and then release them again', said the witness. “I assume he wanted to provoke me. To see if I have something to do with children.”
Laurentiu C. had reported to the police in 2020 of several rapes in Portugal, with which Brückner had brasted in prison. Brückner was sentenced to seven years in prison for the rape of the American Diana M. (then 72) in 2005 in Praia da Luz. The rape of Irishwoman Hazel B. (40) in Praia da Rocha in 2004 is charged in the current trial. Therefore, Laurentiu C. was summoned as a witness.

Is the witness credible?

The fact that he now began to tell about kidnapped and abused children surprised even the public prosecutor's office. Especially since the witness had claimed before the lunch break that he hardly remembered anything.
His remarks became all the more accurate after the break. In connection with the kidnapped child, Brückner had asked him for advice, according to the witness: "He said that he had supported himself when he jumped out of the window. He then asked me if he could have left traces.”
Chief Public Prosecutor Ute Lindemann pointed out to the witness that he had testified otherwise to the police: Brückner had asked him if his DNA could be found on bones underground. True, the witness recalled: "Whether it concerns the child, I do not know. But he asked me that.”

Brückner also asked him several times to set fire to his house, according to Laurentiu C. "A big house, somewhere in the country. He would then hire someone to give me money for it.” Why Brückner asked him to do so, he does not know. In Neuwegersleben, the accused owns a dilapidated factory, which the police have already searched several times.
Brückner's lawyer Dr. Friedrich Fülscher (40) wanted to know from the witness whether he thought the accused was clever. "Yes, he's smart." Does he think it's smart to tell someone in jail about such acts?
"Maybe," said the witness, "he misjudged me."

Its all about timing.
Who first fingered CB in connection with MM and when ?
Exactly is this guy concocting a story after hearing all about it through the press?, When was CB put into solitary ?

  • #144
Who knows, it all started way back in Feb, with only what, 30 something days of evidence.
One of two things
  • either the case will slide into yet more 'procedural' issues
  • or the diversion into MM territory will throw a spanner into the works of both the five serious sexual crimes and the crimes against MM
CB's defence team did not manage to get the MM case featured now without a great deal of malice aforethought going into it.
Bearing in mind both they and CB knew who this MM case witness is and how he relates to the MM case despite having nothing to do with this one.

CB could "walk" from all six cases in the interests of justice dependent of how the defence play it out.
My opinion

Quote from the Bild, wonder what he had for lunch?

My opinion is that the first inkling given was in a twenty nineteen Australian podcast. Initially the press pack assumed the description given was of Ney. At the time no-one had heard of CB.

FF has managed to undermine the credibility of both the witness LC and the McCanns in one stroke by asking the court to view the AXY video imo.

Thankyou Hygge.
Seems my synopsis was way off beam according to your BILD link.

Snip
The rape of Irishwoman Hazel B. (40) in Praia da Rocha in 2004 is charged in the current trial. Therefore, Laurentiu C. was summoned as a witness.

It seems LC took everyone by surprise. Perhaps even CB's defence team.

Hmmm. I'm afraid I'm finding this a little hard to believe. Apart from anything else, there's zero evidence to suggest the window was found open let alone tampered with. And why would a seasoned burglar like CB risk a window break in when the patio doors were open? And why would he elaborate on how he allegedly entered/exited the room?

It's just not ringing true. It sounds, in fact, like an exercise in 'box ticking' on the part of LC.

I think it makes sense, cb thinking he's talking to another paedo. But this guy wasn't, and inmates can't stand men who abuse kids and females, he has nothing to gain by speaking up, he has done the right thing

He didn't know the patio doors were open and the doors were visible from the Tapas

Who opened the window?
Perhaps there's a bit of confusion from translation or vague recounting ( from CB or LC ) regarding the window being open .
" open " could mean being actually raised open or open could mean " unlocked " .. thus able to be raised ..?
Just a thought ..

Apparently LC spoke through a translator in court today. I previously asked which language he spoke to CB in as he would appear not to be fluent in German.

Agreed, but I think he is doing so in entirely the wrong case and at the wrong time.

It looks as though FF's game playing of using witnesses to discredit other witnesses has at last backfired.
LC was called by the defence which might be giving a bit of a quandary for them at the moment; but it is the long term damage that might be done for the MM case which is concerning.

LC had nothing to say about any of the five indictments, so why on earth was he allowed to take the stand at this trial at the behest of the defence and the acquiescence of the judge?

And how did the defence become aware of this witness.

I'd guess as Europeans, they'd both have had a decent enough grasp of English. CB certainly has (from the evidence of his letters). Most (travelled) Europeans have English as a second language.

That's beside the point, obviously, and obviously also, me just guessing. It's the specifics in LC's testimony that are making it all very shady and suspect for me. They're just too convenient, for want of a better term.

And how did the defence become aware of this witness.
CB knew who he was having spent some time with him in prison. He assumed he was a fellow abuser who having kept his mouth shut in public was likely to keep it that way in court.

It is interesting that CB was described as being glum. Perhaps he was unable to convince his defence team that calling him might not be a good idea.
