NOT GUILTY Germany/Portugal - Christian Brueckner, 27 @ time of 1st crime (2004), charged with sexual assault crimes, Praia de Rocha, Portugal. #6

When she talks about how she was treated by the PJ & how incompetent they were, I immediately also feel a lot of sympathy for the McCann’s. CB’s arrest & conviction rates are way higher when he was in Germany in comparison to his 12 years in Portugal. Running to that region of the Algarve every time he comitted a crime in Germany speaks volumes. Safe Haven & it enabled him to get worse. After 12 years, imo leaving Portugal abruptly in 2007 must have been for a very serious reason.
Yes... I mean obviously the guilty vibes the parents gave off in interviews etc we can clearly see was due to the fact they left her in the room while out and will blame themselves for that eternally...
I dont know why people continue to point the finger when we have a guy like CB in the frame and horrific child abusers like Clement fraud living locally...
In my opinion it was a job CB was getting paid for and then with the sudden press explosion the other party wanted nothing to do with it.... But thats just a guess with not much to back it up...

I cant believe he got away with them charges in the court and how was a lawyer like FF funded by a small time dope dealer like CB in fact how did he afford his american tourer bus or the box factory?
He must have been generating some serious money from somewhere

Think you'll find it was legal aid, it's been covered in these threads.

Yes. Although I’ve never been suspicious of the parents I can see why some people got caught up in some of the early ideas. It happened at the dawn of social media & theories formed a narrative before proper investigation & logical context arrived. Once that idea pulsates through social media it has the tendency to stick.

It has been said FF is receiving private funding, only they will know. If he is in receipt of private funding it’ll be no surprise who is chipping in.

One issue they had regarding CB in 07 is the PJ didn’t have much of a record on him because they hadn’t caught him for DM’s rape & any other crimes sex crimes he comitted. Whether it was CB or not, not catching the man going into young girls bedrooms highlights the PJ’s inability to investigate sex crimes. Therefore investigating the abduction was miles beyond what they were used to & capable of.

I read that PJ officers knocked on CB’s door, he wasn’t in, so they walked away & didn’t follow up (WTF!). Even if they managed to crack the big mystery of where he was (local prison) I still don’t think they’d have put this together.

I share your opinion that CB was involved, my opinion is he’s solely responsible. It’s going to be really tough prosecuting MM’s murder case. It’s a challenge managing expectations, they’re very high & rigid. And (imo) the expectations will increase if the strength of the evidence does. This case is very old & therefore won’t be solved as easily as what one sees on a TV crime drama. Not having smoking gun evidence won’t magically make CB not the man responsible.

My opinions.

Yes I read that too it seems a shambles .... I get the feeling that CB was selling his videos to perpetrators with perverted taste from his conversations he had online with the other pedophile.. wasn't there a scandal of some PJ officers being involved in a trafficking ring,..

I do find it odd how he acquired all these vehicles and businesses just from selling cannabis I cant see that as the money behind it and his relationship with NF and the so called orphanage seems strange too... Who was funding it ... Did they ever search her property that he drove too on the night MM went missing ... The one guarded by dogs that the dad tipped the police off about.. looking on the maps there is plenty of spare land around there for disposal

Just off the top of my head, NF's funding was legit as it was part of a German government youth programme.

Still seems a bit odd given her interview where she talked about how she knew about his sexual preferences when he was with her like young girls and yet she stayed with him and he was around the kids.... From my memory one girl ran away and CB went after her... When she came back she was pregnant... On the night MM went missing he turned up at her place in was it Farol I cant remember and parked his van up and slept outside... I just think if the police should be searching somewhere it should be that area personally..

If I recall correctly NF couldn’t account for his whereabouts at the time. I can’t recall whether or not she said she remembered him being back there overnight.

I wonder where he was when he made the phone call asking somebody else to become the registered owner of the vehicle he owned & was using. I think the crimes would have been committed before he started trying to cover things up. Imo seeking to un-attach his name from his own vehicle will have been done after he disposed of remains.

Re-registering of a vehicle will be a technicality delight for his defence lawyers.

I look forward to the relevance of it being argued and proved in a court of law.

Good sleuthing too! This is a good platform (websleuths) .

Are you also in the DM group? It’s a bit busier & cuts out the CB sleuthing resistance that inevitably pops up.

Now they’ve pieced this all together it turned out a whole lot simpler than what 17 years of speculating about it did (Occam's razor). Maybe you’re right & finding location of remains will be right under their noses & somewhere familiar

Yes - I’m glad you’re involved. It’s a good sleuthing conversation. The CB investigation is ‘spoiling the party’ but (on the meaningful level) justice is most important, even if it takes years it will be worth the time, money and effort the 3 counties have spent investigating this.

They claim to have physical evidence that Madeleine, of Rothley, Leics, is dead but no forensic evidence.

Snipped from the article, the Sun claims "they" who one presumes to mean the Germans have physical evidence that MM is dead but not forensics, doesn't leave much does it, a digital image that some have mused that might exist is not physical it can be manipulated a physical thing cannot.

Do you think that if they have a picture people will claim it was had been doctored?

“Can be manipulated” - i worry that instead of swallowing one’s pride, this rhetoric is where it will inevitably go to.

The Germans could announce they have a picture post charging and before trial.
