Rex's pen-pal was none other then the serial killer "Happy Face" who Rex told he'd take or think about his advice.

IMO:
How the hell can she dismiss the evidence presented of his pedophile, perverted, sick, sadistic, violent ,evil computer searches ?
Her hairs found on the murdered deceased?
Daughter's and Rex's DNA matches, water bottle and pizza crust?
The electronic records of her husband's numerous burner phones?

What strikes me the most though is that if Asa can go public with these declarations about her husband after being in contact with him weekly I can only imagine how easy it was for Rex to sway/convince her of anything during the years they lived together.

Color me surprised...NOT.

Suspected Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann 'not capable' of murders, wife says after jail visits

It’ll be interesting when Gloria Allred gets wound up. She’ll crush the family’s attorneys/agents.
Asa Ellerup's story is also turning out the way attorney John Ray first predicted.

Money talks.
Can anyone recall another case where the spouse of a killer whose own DNA is found on the victims was paid seven figures by a major broadcast television network for her story as she "stands by her man", defending him in public?

I can't, but ICBW.

My question is has Asa's status now changed from being labeled a "victim" of her husband who is criminally charged of being the serial killer of 4 women to her being an ally of her husband who is criminally charged of killing 4 women?
IMO: She's not "withholding judgement" when she claims Rex is not capable of having killed 4 women and she hasn't yet heard all the evidence that will be presented at trial which is her reason for saying that she is "withholding judgment" and giving him the "benefit of the doubt" when she already judged him as being innocent.

"Though Ellerup filed for divorce shortly after Heuermann was arrested, she visits him weekly in prison and “still maintains that Rex is not capable of the crimes he is accused of,” per her attorney."

"I will listen to all of the evidence and withhold judgment until the end of trial.
I have given him the benefit of the doubt, as we all deserve,” Asa Ellerup said in a statement issued through her attorney, Robert Macedonio"

I do hope so! I cannot wait!

I'll get the popcorn!

It is very hard to understand how Asa would be able to have such cognitive dissonance that she can see the evidence and not feel RH is capable.
I get the feeling she's a paid actor on a stage, performing a role that may or may not reflect her own knowledge and belief. She's not under oath. There's no penalty I know of to prevent her performance.

And what about that creepy image of the poor battered woman in the home? Poster size. Where was that displayed? Didn't she wonder why such material was "around the house"?
We don't know and may never know anything about that upsetting image but it has been suggested that the daughter who is somewhat of an artist may have done it.

IMO: The only appropriate place for an image like that is in the police file of a battered woman to be used as evidence against the defendant.

Looks like Asa's lawyer Macedonio and Rex use the same script for her.

I am so curious as to what Melissa Moore (Happy Face's daughter) has to say about the Peacock deal and now that Asa is saying that Rex isn't capable of having killed the 4 women.
So far I have not found any statements from Moore.

Moore started the fundraiser for Asa after meeting her and her kids but suspended donations after the news hit that Asa signed with Peacock.
I wonder if Moore is part of the Peacock documentary too?

That's pretty much what Josh Zeman said when he was discussing it with Joe Giacalone on his YouTube show. Agreed, that's what it looks like, too. It seriously feels like watching an actor. While I know she's desperate for money, this seems a very... unusual (?) direction to take to raise financial resources in this set of circumstances. I don't think AE has done herself any favors by entering into this arrangement, despite the obvious financial rewards. She's involved in a very, very grim, ugly, complicated, and deathly serious situation that has had, and will continue to have, life-or-death consequences for a lot of people. And she is in the midst of that, in a pivotal role as spouse of a murder suspect now in custody who if guilty, has done unspeakably horrible things to his victims. This isn't a time when people are going to appreciate fluff and meaningless hollow statements, especially from her, in her position. She may suffer from trying to convert her very serious situation into reality tv. But we'll see how it plays out.

IMO:
Someone had best tell Asa that the odds are her hubby will most likely make a plea deal and not go to trial when push finally comes to shove.

JMO, Asa’s words and actions are orchestrated by her attorneys and her husband’s. I think she has personal knowledge of some, if not all of the murders. Contrary to what they may think, it’s not going to help Rex H. There’s too much evidence against him.

There’s so much about these actions and statements that look like “damage control”. The close association of all these defense attorneys to the Suffolk County prosecutor’s office is important. There’s something they’re hiding, JMO. Perhaps there’s something problematic Rex H (and possibly his wife) are threatening to reveal, resulting in all the unusual arrangements for Asa.

Its all under a media microscope, so everyone is proceeding carefully. JMO, they want to try and convict Rex as quickly as possible while controlling what’s publicly revealed. John Ray has a good idea of what they’re trying to hide. JMO

Absolutely! It seems, they (the Heuermans) may know a lot about about quite a few people in LE, the legal system and Suffolk political positions.

When will one of the reporters who speak with Macedinio about Asa ask him why he and Asa never address the evidence collected by LE on Rex's computer searches and burner phones?

'Rex Heuermann's estranged wife doesn't think he's capable of being Gilgo Beach serial killer, neighbors say'

"Neighbors were curious after hearing Ellerup declared Heuermann is not capable of the crimes.

"She said to me that she didn't think he did this," said Etienne DeVilliers, a retired FDNY member who lived next door to the Heuermanns for 28 years. "That house is a mess and he was spending a fortune on hookers. I told her to her face and she said no he wouldn't. I said yes he was. He was spending a fortune on call girls and wouldn't drop a dime on that house."

  • The new details were shared in a bill of particulars requested by Heuermann’s defense team, which alleged prosecutors have not disclosed to Heuermann how they believe he killed the alleged victims, where the deaths occurred or how they intend to prove the slayings were part of a common scheme.

In the Feb. 14 demand letter, Heuermann defense attorney Danielle Coysh argued the superseding indictment charging the Manhattan architect with multiple murder counts does not provide enough information for him to properly prepare his defense.“Every count of the indictment merely repetitively parrots statutory language alleging Mr. Heuermann ‘caused the death’ of each victim,” Coysh wrote. “This language is so vague and nonspecific as to be virtually meaningless, leaving Mr. Heuermann in complete ignorance of the substance of accusations against him.”

In the bill of particulars prosecutors wrote that they do believe Heuermann acted alone and that the cause of each woman’s death was “homicidal violence.” Prosecutors further state that the time and place of each death is contained in the grand jury minutes and other discovery materials, though they stopped short of providing more specific details. As for how prosecutors maintain the four deaths were part of a common scheme, Lee wrote that each victim was a sex worker in their 20s advertising their services online and that they were all contacted by burner phones utilized in locations consistent with Heuermann’s whereabouts.

The prosecutor also argued that the remains were discovered "completely nude" and bounded within close proximity to each other, that five hairs connected to Heuermann or a family member were recovered from three of the four sets of remains and that “each victim’s disappearance and murder occurred at times when defendant’s wife and children were traveling out of state.”

Heuermann has been held without bail at the Suffolk County Jail since his arrest. He is due back before State Supreme Court Justice Timothy Mazzei for a conference April 17.

'New York Consolidated Laws, Criminal Procedure Law - CPL § 200.95 Indictment;  bill of particulars'

4. Request refused.  The prosecutor may refuse to comply with the request for a bill of particulars or any portion of the request for a bill of particulars to the extent he reasonably believes that the item of factual information requested is not authorized to be included in a bill of particulars, or that such information is not necessary to enable the defendant adequately to prepare or conduct his defense, or that a protective order would be warranted or that the demand is untimely.  Such refusal shall be made in a writing, which shall set forth the grounds of such belief as fully as possible, consistent with the reason for the refusal.  Within fifteen days of the request or as soon thereafter as practicable, the refusal shall be served upon the defendant and a copy shall be filed with the court.'

Prosecutors listed the "common scheme" in Heuermann's Bail Document.

Does anyone know if LE connected Rex as the one having made calls using Melissa's phone to her family in 2009?

'Police said in January that calls from Melissa Barthelemy's cell phone had been traced to midtown Manhattan, with the two last calls made from around Madison Square Garden and Times Square. The caller hung up too quickly for authorities to pinpoint the exact locations of the calls, police said.

From bail document: "...on July 10, 2009, the last day Melissa Barthelemy was seen alive, both the burner phone and Defendant Heuermann’s phone were in the area of Massapequa and traveled together toward New York City. Thereafter, both Ms. Barthelemy’s phone and Heuermann’s phone traveled eastbound toward Massapequa...

...Following Ms. Barthelemy’s disappearance, on July 17, 2009, at approximately 12:40 p.m., a male caller used the Barthelemy Phone to contact Ms. Barthelemy’s family. The Barthelemy Phone was located in New York City at this time, specifically attached to a cellular tower located at 4 Penn Plaza, which is approximately 2,372 feet or .45 miles from Heuermann’s then-office space...

...On July 22, 2009, at 6:51 p.m., cell site records indicate the burner cellphone had activity in New York City, specifically attached to a cellular tower located at 19 West 34th Street, which is approximately 872 feet or .16 miles from Defendant Heuermann’s then-office space...

...On July 23, 2009, at approximately 1:39 p.m., cell site records indicate that the burner cellphone had activity in New York City, specifically attached to a cellular tower located at 19 West 34th Street, which is approximately 872 feet or .16 miles from Heuermann’s then-office space...

(Also 6:42, same date)

...On August 5, 2009, between approximately 6:50 p.m. and 7:11 p.m., a male caller used the Barthelemy Phone to contact Ms. Barthelemy’s family. During said time period, the Barthelemy Phone utilized the following cellular phone towers in New York City, which are 2230 to 3280 feet from Heuermann’s then office-space...

...On August 10, 2009, based upon subpoenaed travel documents, Heuermann departed for Iceland and all phone activity for the Barthelemy Phone stopped. On August 18, 2009, Heuermann returned from Iceland and phone activity for the Barthelemy Phone resumed the next day, with calls on August 19 and 26. 8/19=Cell site records indicate that the Barthelemy Phone was located in New York City at this time, specifically attached to a cellular tower located at 249 West 36th Street, which is approximately 2,831 feet or .53 miles from Heuermann’s then-office space; 8/26=Barthelemy Phone was located in New York City at this time, specifically attached to the cellular tower located at 4 Penn Plaza, which is approximately 2,230 feet or .42 miles from Heuermann’s then-office space
