All killed by Strangulation !

How simple (sarcasm) - what a strong man "used his bare hands" (no tools)

That ties it all up with a ribbon then !! 🎀

IMO "Liar Liar pants on fire"

Moo but this is a very anti-climactic ending to a case that I thought would be a mystery forever. I am so glad the families of these beautiful women know this murderer will be behind bars for the rest of his life.

It probably hasn't ended. Rex's confession as the killer of Karen Vergata opens a new avenue of investigation of her death - when, where and how it happened. His DNA will be going into CODIS, opening the possibility that he will be linked to other murders.

Like Ted Bundy, good LE will continue to investigate to see if he can be linked to other cold cases. That will also bring some relief to other families of missing and murdered women.

There will be more books and articles written, more documentaries, more investigations. Rex was active at least since the 1980's or 90's. He was very, very active. Ted Bundy was believed to have murdered as many as 30 women. Rex's number will be quite high, too, though probably not as high as Bundy's. Bundy was a single guy who had much more free time.

I must say I'm shocked that RH plead out, I didn't see this coming. There is something about him that just vibes 'inherently evil' to me.

I wonder how the families of the victims really feel? My sympathies go out to all of them, these women (and man) did matter.

Is this the woman who had the boyfriend cop, picked Kren up and went to Rex's home? Im trying to remember. She said they went in the the house and met Heuermann and his wife. She said Karen went downstairs while the others stayed upstairs. When the women and the cop left, she said they saw Karen run outside naked near the garage. I think that's the one...isn't it??
yes....that's the one

From the MSN article. MSN

Heuermann was not charged with Vergata’s murder on Wednesday, instead adding her to his allocution as the eighth victim. The DA stated Vergata’s murder is covered by his admission and guilty plea to the seven other murders.

“There will be no further prosecutions for these eight victims,” said Heuermann’s attorney Mike Brown.

Because Karen Vergata was lumped in with the others, it looks like he can't be prosecuted for anything else related to her. I wonder if he wanted her included because he knew there was a witness (Lorraine) who could pinpoint KV being at his home, and that the wife knew about it. I think he's trying to hush it up so the wife doesn't get implicated further. MOO

Also, what are these two smiling and laughing about! Disgusting conduct.

Thats probably why RH has Karen put in with the other victims: bc AE saw Karen in their home ........yes laughing ? disgraceful but must be a family thing........disrespectful

Like many here I believe there's more victims to be connected to RH and sadly those that haven't been found ore reported missing by loved ones.

The day after RH was arrested, Friday July 14, 2023 he appeared before the judge (Massei?) and he was appointed Michael Brown.

I don't understand how RH could qualify for this, given he ran a successful business, had real estate and other assets, and was characterized as "middle class". So not only did the people pay the prosecution, they also paid for his defense.

Now that he plead guilty today, the civil wrongful death lawsuit that was filed by Benjamin Torres will now proceed through the discovery phase.

With this lawsuit they will learn or try to learn the full truth surrounding what happened to VM. Also to find who all is responsible that have done harm to Benjamin from the Heuermann family.

RH, AH and VH will be required to answer the lawsuit.

Suspected Gilgo Beach killer Rex Heuermann sued days before expected guilty plea | Fox News Gilgo Beach victim’s son claims suspected serial killer’s family turned horror into profits ahead of plea
I quite suspect that at the minimum, VH will be dropped from this suit by the Courts. Given she was aged 13 and under for the duration of RHs known-active timeline, it's pretty obvious that tree will not bear any fruit.

Even moreso in any sort of "responsibility for having done harm to Benjamin from the Heuermann family" as Benjamin's mother, Valerie Mack was discovered in 2000; VH was a mere 5 or 6 years old at the time.

I don't think any Judge will allow her to remain as a respodent in a case attempting to determine her possible/potential 'culpability' in a crime that occured while she was that age. To me and IMO - that's just commn sense.

HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT...
A victory for the families, but there's still a lot to learn here: connections between RH and other people like JB, especially after a witness claims to have been in the same room with them, the other witness from Vergata who would link his wife to the incident, and the connection to the family (honor to JR).
I'm sorry for those who don't agree, but the family knew something here, whether you want to see it written down or not.
There's also the question of the position of Costilla's body, which was supposedly simulating Bitrolff's killings.
And now, what do we want to do with him?
Not to mention that knowing details is useful for future investigations or simple studies, even here,
whether you want to know them or not, those who don't want to move on...
This plea bargain was like a sandwich with butter for him!
I hope someone does something that is just an investigative journalist because the information needs to get out..
it's totally disrespectful to see him simply say strangled and thrown away smiling....
no my dear there is much more...
and if it's enough for justice it's not enough for many of us!

I agree! The question about family members of any SK is this IMO. Has there ever been a case in history where a family member admitted to knowing anything about the SK's hidden lives? How would we know if not for those who try to unravel what actually occurred? I'd like to see behaviorial scientists study the psychology of the family members to dig deeper. MOO

Rodney Harrison, former Commissioner who led the taskforce, said yesterday he still has questions about family members and possible involvement or knowledge. He also said this isn't over, the investigation will continue that he hopes will answer the questions.

"God willing, we'll find out down the road."

If Mr. Harrison can have questions, I will allow myself to wonder as well.

He was talking with CBS News New York. Begin about 27.30

Meticulously piecing together stray strands of evidence, the Suffolk County Police Department and District Attorney’s Office, working with the FBI and New York State Police, collaborated in an extensive investigation that led to Heuermann's arrest.

Eventually, Heuermann’s Chevrolet Avalanche was a key factor for police, leading authorities to his residence in Massapequa Park and his office in Midtown Manhattan — locations corresponding to key activity zones identified through the investigations into the missing and murdered women. Another critical breakthrough came when Heuermann was observed adding minutes to a burner phone, which aligned with the movements of burner phones used during the crimes. Further, Heuermann’s DNA, recovered from a discarded pizza crust, matched hair found on the victims, solidifying suspicions that he was connected to the murders.

Gone Girls explores how Burke and Spota compromised the integrity of the Gilgo Beach murder investigation. Burke, with numerous internal affairs complaints against him, curtailed collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, obstructing the FBI’s involvement and halting crucial investigative steps. Meanwhile, Spota, who was later convicted of obstruction of justice, shielded Burke, further entangling law enforcement in a web of corruption that prioritized self-preservation over justice.

As the case continues to unfold, Gone Girls serves as a powerful reminder of the resilience and determination of the victims’ families. “I think audiences should believe in the power of their voices when they see injustice,” Garbus says. “These family members were never going to give up. They knew there was a need to shake the establishment to get attention for this case.”

For those following the case, the docuseries offers a comprehensive look at the investigation’s progress and the challenges that remain. Hear more from Garbus on the You Can’t Make This Up podcast and keep an eye out for updates and new developments.

Somehow I thought prisoners got served 3 square meals and not enough food to fatten up a glutton.
He reminds me of those chickens and hens you see in factory farms that are so pumped up with hormones with no exercise to the extent they can no longer stand on their own two feet due to the weight of their fat bodies. Repulsive man in every way he is.

I believe someone's keeping plenty of money on his books (commissary) which is stocked full of super processed, sugar loaded junk. Perhaps he'll gorge eat his way to a heart attack, sorry...not sorry.
