Snipped. Absolutely true! She lived thousands of days and nights in that tiny home with him where he planned, researched, prepared, sought after, spoke to, met up with, tortured, murdered and dismembered young women, yet says she didn't have an inkling of his lifestyle. And she insists on being in the courtroom so she can see and hear for herself the details of his crimes. I don't believe anything about her ignorance.
MOO
His daughter was in elementary school for some of this....And his wife appears to not be all there cognitively imo, with a history of being in abusive relationship that he basically swooped in and saved her/her disabled son from. Imo I believe in giving the wife/kids the benefit of the doubt, especially the children, who weren't even 10 when some of this was happening. What is normal to us individually, is often formulated by our lived experiences. He married someone who appeared to have her own cognitive issues (imo) and her own "off" lived experiences, and then his daughter was raised in the home where this is what she knew....a messy home in disrepair, parents with poor dental hygiene, a disabled brother, and a locked room in the basement with guns...who in even their off mind is going to leap to their father is a serial killer? By the looks of the home on the outside (disrepair) and their mannerisms if I was acquainted with them (ie neighbor), I wouldn't find them appealing people to socialize with but I wouldn't jump to he is a serial killer, nor would I think his kid should have know, when this is her only normal, even if they are all a bit off/weird.
Totally agreed on benefit of the doubt, jmo, he was divorced when he hooked up with AE, I'd imagine him being a complete psycho had to have been a factor on the first marriage ending. He evidently didn't want to stop being that way or couldn't, and shopped around for a perfect SK wife. And he probably sealed the deal by demanding she "give him his space." I doubt she felt like arguing with Gun Room Rex. Looking up women that will marry SKs. Seeing SKs might gravitate towards a woman who
travels for work
So
AE likes to travel, trips to Iceland are guaranteed to be long,, clearly she goes elsewhere as well, and she evidently had a difficult past. Question. How much did
he travel for work? He certainly traveled plenty with his hunting and Vegas and SC, but I'm guessing he may also have traveled for his job. I know he attended conferences/seminars and such because he mentioned at least one such instance in a vehicular lawsuit. And I doubt she went with him on all of these famous hunting trips. He's got a demanding job,
exactly how much time did these two really spend together?
Just went back into his log that was in one of the bail documents, and seeing this:
There's this "Amity Meeting." Amity, the town of Amity? That's way up in New York near the PA border 75 miles from Buffalo & Rochester. And there's a shooting range in Rochester ON Amity St. Now, ok, there are bound to be "Amitys" in NYC, too, but this is at 6pm, these later time slots during the week seem to be when he's off work, and another such late-in-the-weekday entry on that log is for some gun club event. And there's that entry Rabco re: cooling tower. Here's why I'm doing a ginormous double-take on that right now. When I was researching for how he may have been using that truck as a mobile kill station, I remember specifically being navigated into reading about cooling towers. You can equip a truck with one. So just looked up Rabco, there are a few Rabcos with different purposes, certainly there are a couple he might have been in legitimate contact with for his company. But the first Rabco that came up, that is a boat company in Clearwater FL. They make skiffs, these can be used for duck hunting. You can equip one of those with a cooling tower. (And you can do the same with a truck.) Probably the Rabco's a different engineering-related Rabco, but it's just reminding me of the fact that we really haven't heard much of anything about his travels. I wouldn't be surprised if Mr. HK actually WAS buying some kind of cooler unit for either boat or truck. And not just to cool off.
RH deceived a lot of people, LE had a heckuva time getting him, it's entirely possible jmo he deceived her too. The only thing that has always made me really wonder with AE was that "Stockholm Syndrome" note on HK. I mean, who's that referring to? We don't know, but perhaps some party other than her. That "Stockholm Syndrome" note along with the cash register mentality and the lack of empathy towards the victims is worrisome and gross. But she's a traveler, and so is he, and that could be a strong motivator for him to feel like he can do as he pleases. Between his job, her job then illnesses, his travels and her travels, I'd wonder exactly how much time these two really spent together. She knew him when he was younger, she just may have felt she knew all there was to know, and just accepted his absences without question. It sounds like she went out of the frying pan into the fire in terms of her personal situation. I'd find her a lot more sympathetic if she hadn't Peacocked her way into financial stability, hurting a lot of people in the process, but jmo.
