I think the company should have first verified the story, too. But, their oversight was based perhaps on the idea that people are basically good and that it is true that some children have lost their daddy's in Iraq. However, the mother's actions were based on lies, cheating, teaching her daughter how to be a bad person, selfishness, and a complete lack of morals or truth. There is a huge difference, and the fault lies with the liar, imo.
