I think I do too.
Sometimes I seem to see people rolling their eyes at me when I tell them the latest scientific discovery or some new type of bat etc.
I'm just always surprised at their lack of interest in the wonders of life music, art or anything really.
How dull a world to live in.

Epiphany

Epiphany commemorates the arrival of Three Kings/Wise Men from the East

Casper, Melchior and Balthazar

who paid tribute to the newborn Jesus by offering gifts:
gold, frankincense and myrrh.

Gold - symbolizes power and royalty,

Frankincense - divinity and priesthood,

Myrrh (a resin used for embalming) - humanity, suffering and death,
but also the future Resurrection.



Epiphany is the day of the end of Christmas season,
and both Catholic Church and Public Holiday (no work) in Poland.



Processions of Three Kings appear on the streets of Polish cites, towns and villages.

"Wise men of the world, monarchs,
where are you hurrying to?
Tell us, Three Kings,
do you wish to see the Child?
He is in a manger, has no throne
and holds no scepter."

"Nothing deters the monarchs,
they rush to Bethlehem,
the star announces the Savior to them,
they rejoice in hope."

Thanks! I'm considering buying that one! Not only would I need to reach up, and lower on a ladder to change bulbs, but being in a row like that'll make it SO much easier than reaching for the ones the other side from where the ladder would be. My island is a double depth. No way would I be able to reach the bulbs from the opposite side, so love that it's designed in a straight line!

I have a tendency to not trust things that fold.

I hear ya. I broke my foot when my ladder leg buckled. The red line on the left is to show where that portion should have been in line with the upper leg. Red arrow pointing to the bend.

I put up my Nativity scene for the first time this Christmas. I had purchased the "stable" by itself, from a thrift store a couple of years ago. My plan was to get the Holy Family and other figures separately. I did get the figures on e-Bay, just this Fall. The only problem was one of the Wise Men was missing! Then, I had to try to find a suitable replacement so that his size would be on the scale with the other figures. I found the perfect Wise Man on e-Bay. But there was no indication what his size was. So, I thought . . . well, how "off" could his size be? When he arrived, with a beautiful turban on his head (loved that turban -- that's why I chose him!) -- he towered over the others! But, no matter -- nothing is perfect!

Inventor Samuel Morse publicly demonstrates the electric telegraph for the first time, laying the groundwork for instant long-distance communication. (Basically, the great-great-great-grandparent of texting.)

January 6 is sometimes called “Old Christmas” in parts of Appalachia, where traditions stuck with the original Julian calendar date.
