I AM SO SORRY. I thought I did the Jan 6th date. YIKES.
This day in history. Big stuff happened. Like a big WWII battle. Read below.
1945 – The Battle of the Bulge Ends
The
Battle of the Bulge officially concludes as Allied forces push back Germany’s last major offensive in WWII. It was the largest and bloodiest battle fought by U.S. troops during the war.
1941 – FDR Defines American Ideals
President
Franklin D. Roosevelt delivers his famous
Four Freedoms speech to Congress, outlining freedom of speech, freedom of worship, freedom from want, and freedom from fear — ideals that would shape U.S. policy for decades.
2021 – A Day That Changed American History
A mob breaches the U.S. Capitol during the certification of the presidential election, an event that becomes one of the most significant political crises in modern American history. Congressional proceedings resume later that night.
Ancient History – Epiphany
January 6 marks
Epiphany in many Christian traditions, commemorating the visit of the Three Wise Men to Jesus — hence its nickname,
Three Kings Day.
1838 – The Telegraph Is Born
Inventor
Samuel Morse publicly demonstrates the electric telegraph for the first time, laying the groundwork for instant long-distance communication. (Basically, the great-great-great-grandparent of texting.)
Bonus Fun Fact
January 6 is sometimes called
“Old Christmas” in parts of Appalachia, where traditions stuck with the original Julian calendar date.
Again my apologies. I really thought I had done this day and I didn't. I have Jan 7th ready to go. I just have to hit "post" at midnight
