And of course Hop Scotch. :)

FYI for anyone that skipped the video thinking they didn't need to see an adult play hopscotch... you really should watch it as it's not what you're expecting. It's only 33 seconds long. :)

I was raised a Catholic, also. I went through 12 years of Catholic school. I am lapsed religiously but still consider myself a Catholic culturally. There are some things that were great about the Catholic schools. Catholics have a great tradition when it comes to education, unlike many fundamentalist religions. I was taught the theory of evolution starting in the 8th grade, and this was in 1965! The girls' Catholic high schools in my part of the country had rigorous curricula academically: We were required to take at least three years of math, four years of science, four years of a foreign language, if not two languages. And again, this was in the late 1960s. I don't remember any home ec classes They didn't tell us we were all expected to get married and raise kids. Or to become a nun. So I salute the Catholic church for that great tradition.
I loved most of the nuns who educated me in Catholic school. We had nicknames for some of them, but we respected them as we knew they sincerely cared about us. Senior year, I was dating my now husband of 54+ years. He surprised me one Friday in the spring when he came home unexpectedly from the University of Michigan (his sophomore year). Classmates who had met him told him that I was talking to my homeroom/English teacher, so he came inside. I introduced him to Sister B and we chatted for quite a while until she looked at the clock and said she had to skedaddle. I figured she had to pee :D After English class on Monday, Sister asked me to come to see her at the end of the day. She knew that my boyfriend was Jewish but said, "He's a keeper. Very intelligent, handsome, and, most importantly, he cares about and respects you." I've always cherished her words of encouragement and support.

For all of the "oldies but goodies" here. I loved this commercial when it aired a couple of years ago and am happy to see it was resurrected this holiday season. Enjoy!

I remember the Rubik’s cube, but it didn’t come out until I was an adult. I had no patience for it either.

It's never too late to be kid again.

However, be forewarned. Nostalgia doesn't come cheap.

We had something similar, but in my day it was called a “jingle jump.” The darn thing was always breaking and my dad always patiently fixed it.

I think this thread calls for a party!

I'm going to whip up a cake. It'll be ready in about.... 13... days.

Sorry if it's burned to a crisp or very under-baked. Next up, a batch of cookie.

I was a curly-top as a little pre-school kid, but wore it short and straighter through most of my childhood and adulthood.
A couple of years ago I decided to set my curls free and now I rock silver curls. 😄

Or the pink and orange knitted dress that was shaped kind of like an upside down tulip made by a dear great-aunt and being forced to wear it on the day she visited.
AWWW! What an adorable cute little girl. This is why you are so successful, your loved ones made sure to dress you immaculately. MOO Katt

It funny (but not at the time) story time!

So back when I was in my early 30s I'd go out dancing 4 nights a week. I wanted a perm so I'd have more curls than my natural waves. My hair was a little shortish on the top, and longer in the back. I decided to go from the Bay Area to San Francisco where this highly rated (and spendy) hair salon was. I figured paying more in a really trendy neighborhood would get a better job done.

So I say to the guy who barely spoke English... I do NOT want to look like a poodle.

He finishes my perm and off to the nightclub I went, sporting a tighter curl than I had hoped for.

I'm standing there at a shared, long table, not very happy with my hair when some guy turned and looked at me (I had no idea who he was). He started laughing so loud and hard that I was surprised he didn't pee himself. He pointed at my head and in-between guffaws he said "You look like a poodle!!"

I was NOT happy. Apparently when I said "I do NOT want to look like a poodle"... the stylist heard "I want to look like a poodle".

Wish granted!

*mutter, mumble*

That's excellent @Bethan!!! A BF decades ago would pick one up, spin, spin, flip, spin, flip and then slam it down on the table in less than a minute. I kid you not. It was so irritating. lol And it didn't matter how messed up I'd make it trying to stump him. To this day I still don't know how people like you guys do it.

But! Betcha can't tie a cherry stem in a knot with your tongue in 15-20 seconds!!! I OWN that one. Ha!

I can also tie one stem around another. That one takes a lot more time but doable. There's a secret to doing that one that I'm not sharing. :)

Twinning…..! Rubik’s Cube? Absolutely not. Cherry Stem? Yes, indeed. Your time and your doubles trick are most definitely unparalleled, though!! 🏆
