My opinion is that the murder of C is personal and has nothing to do with alleged "drug smuggling" (if it even happened). I think B is so called "hidden narcississist" - calm and collected on the outside and "seething" with insecurities inside. With marriage problems his frustration was building. When his wife decided to leave for good that night, he snapped. And remember the word "stupid" - For a narc person this is the capital offence! He sat simmering with rage and the feeling of "injustice of it all" in the living room with baby L as a hostage. And decided to "punish the ungrateful wife" in his sick mind. The hatred made his mind "blurry" as he described. So he sat there and planned how to pull it off - he had a few (2?) hours while he was waiting for her to fall asleep. He removed the memory cards..... And the rest is history. That is what I think happened.

The killing of Caroline Crouch exposed how the public will stand by violent men over victims

Interesting opinion piece about how C's murder has been handled by Greek MSM and authorities. Whether or not B was involved in criminal activities, I think the primary motive for C's murder was that she said she was going to leave him and take her daughter with her.

"Greek media has repeatedly presented a version of events that benefits the accused. That he killed his wife to protect his daughter, that his wife was violent towards him and the child, that she threatened to divorce him, that he acted in the heat of a row."

"Anagnostopoulos, a helicopter pilot, has even given interviews from the so-called VIP section of Korydallos prison in Athens, while other prisoners in pretrial detention face severe deprivation."

"Details of the case have been systematically leaked to the press, including extracts of a diary allegedly belonging to Ms Crouch, which suggested that there were problems in the marriage. The prosecutor ordered an investigation into who was responsible. Yet extensive information on Ms Crouch and her daughter remain online."

"Many believe that if Ms Crouch was not British and the UK authorities were not involved, the case would have been solved by a coerced false confession of an alleged foreign robber."

"But despite strong indicators that he may have previously been violent towards his wife and daughter, he has not been charged with such acts – even though the prosecutor in the separate custody process justified the daughter’s removal on the basis that domestic violence had occurred in her presence."

"Stauros Mpalaskas, a police officer supporting the ruling party, provided advice on TV on how Anagnostopoulos should have behaved after the killing to ensure he received a lighter sentence."

"On 30 June, the Greek National Council for Radio and Television announced an investigation into multiple complaints over the presentation of the case by the media. But no measures have been taken."

"Greek authorities do not keep statistics for femicides – classified by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) as the intentional killing of a woman for misogynous or gender-based reasons."

I think he'd fantasised about how to 'get rid' of CC for a while.
I think if you kill someone in a 'blurred' mental condition you'd be in too much of a state to set about staging a robbery.

He may have an interest in young boys. (Was Caroline's school mixed sex? - it could explain his desire to stalk the school trips).
I can't stop thinking about the angry words she used about him in her diary. Although we don't know the context, nor the actual meaning, something about them smacks of 'pervy old creep'.

Myknonos is a beautiful island, it's true. But (for me) no more or less beautiful than, say, Santorini or Crete. Lots of straight people go to Mykonos too, but there certainly is a vibrant, gay vibe there, especially in Mykonos town in the evenings and some of the secluded beaches in the area. And it's expensive. I've sat, along with the other regular-non-rich-and-famous-folk, on Ornos beach on Mykonos watching the yachts arrive and the helicopters delivering guests to the huge, private villas up in the hills.

Oh to be on a Greek island right now... sigh.

Oh, he might have fantasised all right, but not about killing. But about the "perfect" life he thought he deserved.
Hence the beautiful, young wife, beautiful house (he couldnt afford), being a pilot.
But reality crashed on him. The wife wasnt as submissive and obliging as he dreamt she would be, he was broke and had to take money from in - laws. Frustration and stress connected with turbulent relationship was building constantly to the boiling point.
As for "robbery story" - it was sooo ridiculous that it could only be invented by a "blurry" mind.
Of course, media will constantly feed the public with sensationalist and lurid elements - it is holiday time after all and pandemic lost its appeal to write about. So it will be Caroline's tragic death.

Dotta, although you have painted a picture of how a narcissist could react, the Greek media and your favourite Mr K have been feeding us tidbits of suspicion so we have been trying to fit all these tidbits together to make sense of them. I would not be at all surprised if there is some truth to all of them.

I would like to know more about B's past history from age 18 to 28yo. Was he simply a trainee who became a workaholic helicopter pilot? What is his relationship history? Was he in debt? IMO there's more to this story.

I agree. I have been thinking of all my lovely holidays in Greece which attracted me to this case. I am in Sydney, Australia and we have been in lockdown again for the last two weeks now extended to three because we have over 300 new cases after having none due mainly to Australians returning from overseas bringing back the Delta strain of the virus and it escaping from quarantine via a driver of a flight crew who was not vaccinated. I have not been out anywhere except to shop once and it has been cold and rainy at times but sunny today. At this time of the year I am usually in Europe and USA for three months in our winter. I miss my family so much and often wonder if I'll ever see them again. My son lives in New York and my daughter lives in Dublin with my four young grandchildren. They all want to come here to celebrate my daughter's 40th birthday next April but they do not wish to have to go into mandatory quarantine for 14 days when they arrive here. Our borders are closed even to other states so I can't even escape to Queensland for some hotter weather. So I have resorted to Websleuths, playing online scrabble and planning renovations to distract me and occupy my time. Santorini? Mykonos? Crete? Corfu? Rhodes? Samos? Cyprus? await me again and, by the way, I have added Alonissos to my list.

I just wrote bluntly what I think :) But maybe I will be surprised, who knows? As for Mr AK - he was the first to say publicly what everybody thought. So maybe B was involved into sth nefarious, but I dont think it was connected to the murder. For me B is a deluded, disturbed individual living in his own world and hell. But, of course, Im the first to criticize tunnel vision so I keep an open mind and discuss this case with you all dear Websleuths :)

Strange news

Mεγάλη ανατροπή για τα Γλυκά Νερά! Έγινε εισβολή ληστών στο σπίτι του τ

By Google translation:
"A big upheaval is coming for the much-praised case of Glyka Nera, as the possibility of robbery is not ruled out yet , despite the revelations, but with a different cause from the one presented by Babis Anagnostopoulos.

The hint that has been circulating in recent days is that unknown perpetrators entered the house of 20-year-old Caroline and killed her because there were financial disputes and pending with the 33-year-old pilot from some illegal act, with the perpetrators acting revengefully on behalf of Anagnostopoulos. there are also revelations about the existence of a third person.

What has emerged is that according to information from the Korydallos prison, the pilot himself has supported this possibility in some of his discussions with his inmates."

This seems to be another version of what has been posted earlier

Caroline's parents know his illegalities!

A "bomb" fell for the crime in Glyka Nera, as developments are expected, which may even come from Caroline's parents, regarding the real motive of Babis Anagnostopoulos.

The confessor's confession request for an expert report on the exact time the memory cards were removed from the home security cameras remains pending, with the results likely to be published in the coming days.

According to Zina Koutselini, during yesterday (5/7) interview of Caroline's father on her show, other information was said that was not made public, following the wish of Mr. David Krouch. The show's journalist, Petros Kousoulos, expressed the appreciation that Caroline's parents know a lot more about the real motive of the perpetrator but also about a "secret" that Caroline may have known. "There may be developments that will make us fall from the clouds," the journalist said.

The issue of the purchase of the plot, which was written in the name of the pilot, also raises questions, although the money was allegedly given by Caroline's family.

The new testimonies that "nail" Babis Anagnostopoulos

In Athens, at a time when Babis Anagnostopoulos' roommates in the sixth ward of Korydallos prison are growing in the middle of summer, testimonies of his actions shortly before he confessed to killing the undefeated Caroline cause a sensation and complaints about his thoughts , shortly before the crime, provide food for new discussions. Always cold, calm and relatively distant from most. In this cell, most of the time with the former prison officer accused of a drug case.

In the VIP wing of the Korydallos prison where the so-called "Art Freak" who stole Picasso's invaluable painting from the National Gallery are now, the 37-year-old priest who attacked metropolitans with liquid fuel inside the Petraki Monastery and Menios Fourthiotis, from the railings before all of them.

The 32-year-old confessed murderer monitors daily all the developments and publications that concern him. In one of the latter, he saw the captain of the boat, who was transporting him from Alonissos to Skiathos, together with the police, describe the images that unfolded in the middle of last month. It was shortly after Caroline's memorial service. When he hugged her mother and appeared devastated. Just a few hours before he was taken to GADA and confessed to the heinous crime he committed. Behind the cameras, according to the captain of the boat in question, the pilot was anything but inconsolable. It was noon on June 17, when the whole country was holding its breath. The gossip that had begun to grow was to be confirmed, with the 33-year-old admitting to the police, everything he was trying to hide. The data left him no room. The police preferred the solution of the boat for the transport and not of the helicopter, for security reasons…

All this while the lawyer representing the parents of the undefeated Caroline claims that 6 days before the murder, the 33-year-old bought a plot of land in Pikermi and -as he says- wrote it in his name, although the money was given by his mother-in-law. The purchase cost 55,000 euros: Babis Anagnostopoulos gave a deposit of 3,000 euros and later brought a bank check with the remaining 52,000. However, of these 50,000 were donated by Caroline's mother.

The couple's mental health counselor also gives information, who, through her lawyer, emphasizes that the undefeated Caroline had decided to get a divorce. Caroline had decided to divorce and went to consult her on how to handle the final breakup of her marriage. The 20-year-old did not want to have any relations with the parents of the confessed perpetrator, a fact that shows the final rupture in the couple's relations and she had not hidden her desire to leave the house.

Banking secrecy is expected to be lifted in the coming days, so that the investigator has a clearer picture of what happened before the crime that froze the country.

The "bomb" exploded! There is a 40-year-old married woman with whom Babis Anagnostopoulos cheated on Caroline!

A big revelation comes to light about the relationship between Babis Anagnostopoulos and Caroline and what led to the crime in Glyka Nera, with the rumors about a third person "igniting". The secret that Caroline's family knew comes to light and changes the facts regarding the treatment of the pilot imprisoned in Korydallos, who had previously taken care to pocket a lot from Caroline's family. According to the information, Caroline's family, together with her legal representatives, were investigating rumors about the 32-year-old's relationship, contact or acquaintance with a woman from the wider professional environment.

The name of this woman, who is around 40, is known to the Authorities, with the investigation into the relationship of the 40-year-old with the murder of Caroline, in progress. However, she, through her legal representative, emphasizes that her contact with the pilot "has nothing to do with Caroline's murder". The same investigation revealed that in the last period of time that the police are investigating, no information has emerged from the mobile phone and the digital traces of the 32-year-old, contact with the 40-year-old woman. However, the authorities are further investigating the specific relationship between the two, examining additional digital evidence.

What ultimately motivated Babis?

New testimonies about Babis Anagnostopoulos and Caroline come to light in the aftermath of the brutal crime in Glyka Nera. Through them, the relationship they had in the first years of their acquaintance is reflected, as well as their obvious differences.

In the period 2013-2016, B. Anagnostopoulos had Santorini as his professional headquarters. From the island of Cyclades, he flew by helicopter throughout Greece. One of the people who worked with him at that time was Giannis Halvatzis, owner of an air transport company that collaborated with Anagnostopoulos' company.

"Babis was always a little distant and timid. Polite, but also closed character. He was a good pilot, but also a bit of a narcissist. "Something that is somewhat normal, when you are a pilot at such a young age", says Mr. Halvatzis to Realnews.

In 2016, shortly before Babis left Santorini, it became known that he was having an affair with a minor. "We had seen Caroline and we were impressed by her age and their relationship. He did not tell us how old she was, but it looked like she was a little girl. "

The news of the murder of Caroline and her dog by Babis fell like a bomb on the island of Santorini. "The last thing on your mind was that Babis would kill his wife. In fact, he loved animals very much. He fed and cared for the strays at the airport. That's why I was shocked that he killed the dog. "

In 2019, as soon as Caroline finished school in Alonissos, she went to live with Babis in Athens. She quickly found the wedding dress she was dreaming of. "Caroline had seen one of my wedding dresses on the internet and called me to make an appointment. She was determined, she wanted this particular wedding dress. I made her the veil and we made some very small modifications ", remembers the owner of the bridal house Marianna Kioulani. Although custom has it that the groom should not to see the bride before the wedding, Babis not only accompanied Caroline to the wedding dress rehearsal, but also wanted to be present at it.

"Babis brought her to the studio. They seemed very much in love, they were always together, Babis did not leave her alone even at the rehearsal. "Go out, find my Daddy, let's rehearse," I joked. And I made fun of Caroline, telling her "do you want to get married from now on?". "We love each other, we have been together for a long time", she answered. She was smiling, cooperative, a very positive girl, but she seemed to be small (young?). She told me that they were going to get married in Portugal and when I asked her "why so far?", she told me "we want to have a fairy tale wedding."

Caroline was an active girl and, among other things, was involved in kickboxing. A man who knew her from the martial arts school in Alonissos, who wishes to remain anonymous, talks about a rare talent that he was forced to stop, implying Babis was responsible. "Caroline was a very good athlete, perhaps the best at this school. She was a miracle girl, a unique talent, who unfortunately stopped kickboxing not because she wanted to, but because he forced her to. "

The puzzle of the motives behind the murder of Caroline in Glyka Nera is completed by the revelations about the financial situation of the couple and about the plot they had bought. The 12th regular investigator, who has taken over the case, is investigating financial disputes that may have had a perpetrator and a victim. It may seem at first glance that the killer was the one who offered a comfortable life to his young wife with his income as a pilot, but in the end it was Caroline's family who put their hand deep in their pockets throughout their relationship.

In order to reach a safe conclusion, the investigator will consider three factors:
  • The lifting of banking secrecy, which will reveal what was the real financial situation of everyone and their transactions.
  • The purchase of the plot in Pikermi, which the pilot paid 90% with money from Caroline's mother.
  • The timing of the murder, six days after the purchase of this plot and after Babis had taken a loan for the construction of the couple's house.

SBM, BBM

How did Halvatzis and his other employees react to one of their colleagues openly dating what appeared to be a 'little girl?' Did they accept it or ridicule him? When in 2016, before or after C's 15th bday? The auto translation which uses 'impressed,' doesn't come across as intended.

I actually changed "impressed" to "shocked" in the post I made. Also was not sure of "little girl" Translation came out as "small" but I thought it should read "young".

Giannis Halvatzis is quite an impressive man who has even been to Harvard and has studied psychology. So I would expect him to know that B is a narcissist and probably made no comment as he was shocked. From reading his website, he does aerial photography, flies tourists to places or does work for companies. It appears that he worked in co-operation with Superior Air helicopter pilots on contract when he was busy.

No I had been looking for it myself. I have seen her picture and predict that she is in her late 40s or early 50s.

The sale of the paternal home in Larissa

As revealed by the show LIVE NEWS, in MEGA the pilot, however, had another income. In particular, the mother of Babis Anagnostopoulos sold her paternal home located in Larissa, in order to contribute financially to the purchase of the plot. The money they received from the sale amounted to 100,000 euros, which were shared equally between Babis Anagnostopoulos and his brother, and an amount was kept by his family.

At the same time, the announcement of their wedding came to light, published in May 2019 by the newspaper Amarysia, which clearly states the names of Babi and Caroline, as well as the location.

OK, returning to the unfortunate plot with a stream. Didn't B inspect the terrain before buying it?? It seems a house can be built there but the streambed must be changed. Which means massive amount of money and permissions from all kinds of agencies. But maybe when in his "blurry mind" he thought about sanctuary for fish???
