I've noticed throughout this trial, prosecutors refer to Richardson as "Brooke" and the baby as "Baby Richardson."

The defense calls Richardson "Skylar" and the baby, "Annabelle." @wlwt #SkylarRichardson

RICHARDSON: Rittgers tells jurors Annabelle (what Skylar says she named the baby) still has not been returned to the Richardsons. He says the jury decision here "is forever." @WCPO

.

Dr. Uptegrove said bones in the family’s fire pit came from animals and were not human.”
Doctor testifies about Skylar Richardson's reaction to pregnancy

Isn’t that pretty unusual, to have animal bones in a suburban backyard fire pit? I am assuming from something like chicken wings or something from the grill maybe? No bearing on the case, but seems like it would smell bad and there’s really no reason to toss food/bones in a fire pit when a trash can would be easily accessed. It also could be used to say Skylar may have seen animal bones in the fire pit and therefore known she could not easily cremate her daughter that way.

One of #SkylarRichardson’s defense attorneys Charlie M. Rittgers talking to the jury about burden of proof of “beyond a reasonable doubt” the state has to meet for a conviction. He tells the jury, “you have reason to doubt the fire. You have reason to doubt the signs of life.”

Rittgers: this case has been the opposite of most cases. Prosecution has been poking holes in the defense and usually the defense pokes holes in prosecution. @wlwt #SkylarRichardson

Defense shows jury in this slide why they cannot consider her actions prior to the birth. It is not a consideration he says.

The following changes nothing regarding this trial, but I had a wild thought ....

Maybe she really did not realize she was pregnant. She had erratic periods (likely due to eating disorder) and some sort of bleeding or spotting during the pregnancy if I remember correctly. It was late in the pregnancy when she found out. And the baby was not Brandon’s, her current boyfriend. Not only would she have to face her parents, Brandon would also learn and may leave her. So she was putting off confronting anyone, including herself. Blocked it out as best she could.

All just a hypothetical, of course, and I have no way to know if any is likely.

I noted something about BSR's reported statements that conflict with this theory. Both the medical assistant and OBGYN from Hilltop clinic testified at trial that during their medical intake on her first visit April 2017, she never stated that she had irregular periods when asked, and/or had skipped periods for a year. It seems BSR only reported a history of irregular cycle to detectives during her interviews, but not her own physician.

Since she repeatedly refused a gynecologic exam, erratic periods really cannot be confirmed based on her conflicting statements. MOO

Rittgers is telling jurors if they think there was PROBABLY a live birth, she's not guilty. #SkylarRichardson @wlwt

My screenshot of the exhibit he just did that I think of it as the Cheney Mason exhibit in the Casey Anthony trial! Which is now used by so many.

Rittgers is tells jury, imagine a box and you put a cat and mouse in there. Mouse disappears. Lets say there's a hole in box, maybe animal ate hole in box, maybe cat ate mouse, you have reason to doubt.

(Rittgers has used this several times in past trials)@wlwt #skylarrichardson
