It could be another way of control. Even when BSR is away from her mom physically she still can't escape her. If these were text messages what were face to face conversations like?

I wondered about that myself while reading those exchanges. Maybe they didn’t talk in person about any sensitive issues at all. Why wouldn’t they just talk about these things when they were home together... seems odd to me, but maybe it’s the texting world we now live in.
