Assuming UFC is Florida? I do think the states with looser gun laws are facing different issues. I am glad peeps are taking notice and reporting it.

If I have learned anything from this gun debate thread, gratefully, I know where in the USA I feel safer... Who would have thought NYC would feel safe? By my experience, it's really not, but it's not Baltimore, or Chicago, or heck, Newark.

Point is, no city is safe, but some go a long way to lessen the odds, and NYC is one such city. Big lovable Apple...

Not sure if or how we will find the answer... After 911, in 2001, I do believe we made a tragic mistake in 2004 in letting the assault weapons ban expire.

That assault weapon ban and expiration fed into a lot of justified fear at the time, just three years after 911.

Now? It almost seems we are at war with the virtual fear of war. I know that seems off the charts, but I really wonder why certain whole sects of society are ready to go to battle as if it is the revolutionary war? Guns are so ingrained into how we won this country.

Is it DNA? Afterall, we know genocide, we know slavery, and we know we dropped the only nuclear bomb on a country.

Sometimes I wonder how on earth Japan ever forgave us.

As I look at American culture, my culture, our history, I realize, we are violent.

America is a violent culture. It's why we are two steps behind the most anarchistic South American continent violent countries in violence.

Unfortunately, our politics only reflects the same.

We will never change politics until we change our culture... Not sure that's possible. We are descendants of a revolutionary mindset. How else could a society justify the atrocities we have brought on ourselves, much less the world?

Nancy Wilson posted an Instagram pic supporting the March for our lives event last weekend and supposed fans attacked her and anyone supporting her. Heart actually released a cover of “You’re the voice” in 2010 with an amazing video to go along with it. They have never been afraid to hide their political and societal views. [/FONT][/FONT]

I am glad people posted all of the different ones speaking up,There are plenty more.

In order to slay the enemy, s/he has to be dehumanized. Made into the other.

They are trying with the Parkland kids and it is working on some people.

I hope the kids are aware of this tactic

The people are either going to allow infringement on our 2A or our freedom, or, but, the people might make some headway on assault weapons...

Barring that, how is it possible, that a teenage whippersnapper, Fox News, and a movement all converge?

maybe start by respecting that kids should have the freedom to go to school each day without being scared of gun violence. Seems like a much more important freedom to me.

To me guns are not freedom. Guns are used by people to kill themselves, loved ones, random people, enemies, children. Anyone at any time. How is that freedom? How is it freedom when schools and lots of workplaces have to practice active shooter drills to be prepared for that possibility?

I thought Hogg was a mouthpiece for the victims of the deathly shootings at the school though? Why would he care who criticizes him in such a public platform? You wouldn't expect everyone to agree with you on such a topic, especially in such a political way, i would imagine.

Especially when he "criticized" himself first by tweeting his personal business regarding not making the cut with certain schools. (likely he meant to shame them, but it didn't work. This time.) So he puts his personal crap online, than when he is the target of a tiny, and I mean teeny bit of sarcastic scorn, he has a melt down and goes on a bullying campaign. ... He accuses Laura of "mudslinging children". He does love to use the "I am just a kid" angle! Poor thing, bullies the crap out of his detractors, but he's a "victim" of a school shooting where he was almost in the same building, and could have known those kids, but didn't... ? MmHmmm.

Clear back pack regulations, Laura I taunted him. He does indeed enjoy the notoriety. imo.

Our children are dying so people can have a gun free-for-all. Our most vulnerable citizens are dying. They all die in vain. The only answer, according to the gun lobby and the NRA, is for more to die. Their "freedom" is more important than another person's life? I will never understand that way of thinking.
