From the link:

"The group's Jacksonville sign is the latest in a string of anti-NRA advertisements. Taylor wrote in a Feb. 19 tweet that the PAC has been targeting the gun rights group since Jan. 1, prior to the Parkland shooting. As the Pensacola News-Journal reports, a similar message was splashed across a billboard in the Panhandle."

(snip)

"In a tweet Feb. 19, Taylor said the group relies on direct donations and the sales of merchandise, such as T-shirts and bumper stickers, to fund its campaigns. At that point, he said, the group had already racked up 4,000 contributions to its efforts."

Jacksonville billboard slams NRA as 'terrorist organization'

The sign was paid for by a PAC led by a former Clinton White House staffer

Another possible terrorist deported back to China-

He was here on an F-1 visa for students but had stopped attending any classes
His friends, neighbors and UCF staff noticed his recent strange and different behavior
He recently died his hair
He recently bought a new fancy car for $70,000 CASH
He was acquiring multiple assault rifles with scopes and tripods

Assuming UFC is Florida? I do think the states with looser gun laws are facing different issues. I am glad peeps are taking notice and reporting it.

If I have learned anything from this gun debate thread, gratefully, I know where in the USA I feel safer... Who would have thought NYC would feel safe? By my experience, it's really not, but it's not Baltimore, or Chicago, or heck, Newark.

Point is, no city is safe, but some go a long way to lessen the odds, and NYC is one such city. Big lovable Apple...

UCF is the University of Central Florida located in Orlando.

Not sure if or how we will find the answer... After 911, in 2001, I do believe we made a tragic mistake in 2004 in letting the assault weapons ban expire.

That assault weapon ban and expiration fed into a lot of justified fear at the time, just three years after 911.

Now? It almost seems we are at war with the virtual fear of war. I know that seems off the charts, but I really wonder why certain whole sects of society are ready to go to battle as if it is the revolutionary war? Guns are so ingrained into how we won this country.

Is it DNA? Afterall, we know genocide, we know slavery, and we know we dropped the only nuclear bomb on a country.

Sometimes I wonder how on earth Japan ever forgave us.

As I look at American culture, my culture, our history, I realize, we are violent.

America is a violent culture. It's why we are two steps behind the most anarchistic South American continent violent countries in violence.

Unfortunately, our politics only reflects the same.

We will never change politics until we change our culture... Not sure that's possible. We are descendants of a revolutionary mindset. How else could a society justify the atrocities we have brought on ourselves, much less the world?

Charleston Massacre: Mental Illness Common Thread for Mass Shootings

As the nation mourns the tremendous loss of life in Charleston, South Carolina, from another mass shooting, details of what drove someone to commit this terrible act remain elusive. But if history is any indication, the shooter most likely has a history of severe mental health issues that have either gone untreated or undiagnosed.
Charleston shooter Dylann Storm Roof was reportedly taking a drug that has been linked with sudden outbursts of violence.

Hasn’t he just been sentenced to death? I thought that the US wasn’t allowed to execute the mentally ill.

I think the people who are attacking the parkland survivors because they know these kids are standing up, speaking out and getting positive attention and so they are running scared. Just like a playground bully who can’t attack the argument, they attack the one arguing, in this case kids who survived a traumatic experience.

These kids are the future, they are making a difference. It demonstrable that there is a lot of support from both the public and celebrities too who understand what these kids are brave enough to try to do.

For example, I love the band Heart. They have a history of opposing violence from their inception in the 1970s. Nancy Wilson posted an Instagram pic supporting the March for our lives event last weekend and supposed fans attacked her and anyone supporting her. Heart actually released a cover of “You’re the voice” in 2010 with an amazing video to go along with it. They have never been afraid to hide their political and societal views.

Anyone who is truly interested in politics and societal good should admire what these young people are trying to do and see that right leaning organizations are trashing them because these organizations are the playground bully and instead of debating and intellectually replying all they can do is attack these kids.

It is funny to me. Does anyone attack a corporation when they have a spokesperson?

I am glad people posted all of the different ones speaking up,There are plenty more.

In order to slay the enemy, s/he has to be dehumanized. Made into the other.

They are trying with the Parkland kids and it is working on some people.

I hope the kids are aware of this tactic

All the stats, and polls, and underdog, and overdog, news reporting, is not going to change one thing. Call it gun ban, reform, or sensible laws, it's up to the people.

The people are either going to allow infringement on our 2A or our freedom, or, but, the people might make some headway on assault weapons...

That's my hope.

We here in America need to respect our freedom. Really at the center of the debate, imo...

Barring that, how is it possible, that a teenage whippersnapper, Fox News, and a movement all converge?

I'm looking forward to finding out!!!

Prohibition? Who ever mentioned prohibition? Why aren't sensible gun control reforms embraced? Why do people seem so threatened by change?

I know this may be a hard question to answer because no two people think alike.
As far as people who are looking for gun reform, what do you think the largest percent are looking to change if they were able to sit down and draft a plan?

maybe start by respecting that kids should have the freedom to go to school each day without being scared of gun violence. Seems like a much more important freedom to me.

I think that the people in this thread have outlined time and again what they think sensible gun control should look like.

I do not understand freedom as related to guns. England does not have freedom? Australia does not have freedom?

To me guns are not freedom. Guns are used by people to kill themselves, loved ones, random people, enemies, children. Anyone at any time. How is that freedom? How is it freedom when schools and lots of workplaces have to practice active shooter drills to be prepared for that possibility?

He can do and say whatever he likes and Laura is also entitled to her opinions.
I thought Hogg was a mouthpiece for the victims of the deathly shootings at the school though? Why would he care who criticizes him in such a public platform? You wouldn't expect everyone to agree with you on such a topic, especially in such a political way, i would imagine.

Especially when he "criticized" himself first by tweeting his personal business regarding not making the cut with certain schools. (likely he meant to shame them, but it didn't work. This time.) So he puts his personal crap online, than when he is the target of a tiny, and I mean teeny bit of sarcastic scorn, he has a melt down and goes on a bullying campaign. ... He accuses Laura of "mudslinging children". He does love to use the "I am just a kid" angle! Poor thing, bullies the crap out of his detractors, but he's a "victim" of a school shooting where he was almost in the same building, and could have known those kids, but didn't... ? MmHmmm.

Clear back pack regulations, Laura I taunted him. He does indeed enjoy the notoriety. imo.

" Hey Laura, who are your sponsors, asking for a friend" ;) He tweets...
He then lists all her sponsors and harasses the crap out of them, daily, as well as calling on every one else to pile on...

This is the stuff of internet bullies. and he thrives on it. IMO

ETA: So basically it boils down to:
He put his personal Chit online, then he whines, * whaa-whaa someone made fun of my personal chit, lets get em! People say hes intelligent, but he clearly had some blind spots when it comes to common sense.

A bully? Lol. He is David against Goliath. Was David a bully?

Poor Laura. Being called out. As if the sponsors had no choice. They could have spouted some kind of mealy mouth PR statement supporting her, but they chose not to. So the big corporations were bullied? Lol

Bbm: exactly. Dosen't matter either... Sorry.

What I don't think people realize, rightly, or wrongly, is how people vote.

Everytown for Gun Safety: Our Issues
The reasons for gun violence are complex, but real change on a few issues could save lives.

Background Checks
The single most important thing we can do to reduce gun violence is to require a criminal background check for every gun sale.

Domestic Violence
But we know that common-sense gun laws will protect domestic violence victims and save lives. In states that require comprehensive background checks, 47 percent fewer women are shot to death by intimate partners.

That’s why we’re pushing Congress and state legislatures to close the loopholes that make it easy for domestic abusers to get guns without a background check—common-sense changes that the gun lobby refuses to support. If abusers can simply go online and buy a gun, how can their partners ever be safe from harm?

Preventable Deaths
About a third of U.S. children live in homes with guns. That wouldn’t pose a risk if guns were stored responsibly. But because many guns are not, American kids are 16 times more likely to be accidentally shot and killed than kids in other developed countries.
...
We need to start an honest conversation about what responsible gun ownership means, and we should develop technology and laws that make safe storage the norm.

Gun Trafficking
Many people assume there’s nothing we can do to keep guns away from criminals. This assumption is wrong. We can keep guns out of criminal hands and shut down trafficking networks by passing common-sense gun laws.

We need a strong federal trafficking law to crack down on illegal gun trafficking networks.
...
A strong federal trafficking law would enable law enforcement to crack down on gun traffickers—and keep guns off our streets.

Our children are dying so people can have a gun free-for-all. Our most vulnerable citizens are dying. They all die in vain. The only answer, according to the gun lobby and the NRA, is for more to die. Their "freedom" is more important than another person's life? I will never understand that way of thinking.
