ITA with you about the US space program. While I think space exploration is a worthy pursuit I think it should come second to making sure every child in this country has access to a good education, every senior can pay their heating bills, and every family can afford to put food on the table.
I love the US and I think this country has done some great things (although singlehandly winning WWII was not one of them) but I think our country needs to own up to our mistakes and learn from them too-and there are certainly many of them. I also think our country needs to take a more inclusive position in world politics-we may be a "superpower" but that doesn't give us the right to disregard the input of everyother country.
Lol-Narlacat I'd offer you a place to stay in the US if you ever came to visit but we live in Iowa and no one ever wants to visit us. Too bad-we're not nearly as obsessed with corn or the bible as people would have you believe.![]()
I love those old barns too, its beautiful.narlacat said:[/b]
Well, I'm not up on what is a cool state and what isn't in the US!
I didn't even know Iowa is known for it's corn or Bibles![]()
I do know your southern states get bagged for whatever reason...but from what I've seen it's beautiful down there!
I just googled Iowa, all those farms- I love those old barns!
Thanks for the link Crypto.crypto6 said:Aussies have always been there with us, even when they had little to gain; so with the Brits. When I visited the World War II Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial near Omaha Beach, some of the sacrifices we have made for each other come into perspective. Brothers shouldn't put much energy into small differences and are glad we can all be here for each other. In any one of the three countries: Imagine the other two weren't there with you on the world stage, then look at The Australian War Memorial. The Aussies were a damned long way from home in a lot of the conflicts catalogued there and didn't have to be there, but they were, like the US guys at Normandy, trying to help their allies. In WWII Australia, on a population-weighted basis, paid as steep a price as the US.
Straight lines of crosses and stars let us see Paltrow and her claptrap for what it is: quite pathetic.

I could not believe him. My DH was so mad. He told me we will never do anything because I am too chicken. I do seriously need to get over that, I am thinking that a valium or 3 would help.
