But he was not the only one who said it. Plus, it would have been in response to a question by LE. If he was aware of this, what was he supposed to do? Lie to them so as to protect her reputation, thereby potentially undermining their investigation?

Tugela, we are not not discussing the local mailman, or some other peripheral witness in Hailey's disappearance. His whole representation of what happened to Hailey has been a lie. You're inferring that Shawn is operating from a place of non-involvement. For 28 months now, he has been a POI. No other suspects have been mentioned by LE to date.

Rereading this information makes my stomach turn again. I honestly feel SA is responsible for Hailey's death. Although there are many inconsistencies in BD's statements, I have a gut feeling she may not have had anything to do with Hailey's demise. I flip flop back and forth in my thoughts but as of now I believe SA acted alone. She certainly would not win "Best Mom" in any category, but after rereading a lot of information from when HD first disappeared, I believe she was infatuated with SA, her young catch. She was naive to believe he would not do anything so evil to HD. It's possible that the goofy/fun/teasing interaction between SA and HD gave BD a false sense of security, leading her to believe SA liked HD. All BD's strange statements such as everyone got what they wanted for Christmas, and then her most recent comment about seeing other mom's out shopping with their daughters and fighting, I think is just BD's warped way of speaking. Because she is and has been under the microscope for the past two years, four months, she is/was trying to paint of picture of "ok I'll admit it, I'm not the best mom in the world". Maybe more than anything, I would like to give benefit of a doubt a mother could not do anything to deliberately harm or kill her own beautiful child. Yes it has happened numerous times but in this case, if she did, I feel it was accidental. And if that was the case, why wouldn't SA roll on BD if it was BD's fault? As of recently it seems like BD is now considering SA might have taken Hailey's life.

I feel SA had sexually fantasized about Hailey and that morning he carried out his perverted fantasy. This would also go to show why child 🤬🤬🤬🤬/🤬🤬🤬🤬 was found on his mother's computer. He was fantasizing about it, viewing it and when his urge got so strong, he fulfilled it with HD. He left work, went home and gave Hailey some excuse to go for a ride with him, took her somewhere secluded, raped her, killed her and dumped her body where it was found. He knew he had to kill her because he knew she would tell someone. Oddly enough SA knew what HD was wearing that day. What guy remembers details like that? A guy who would rape and dispose of her clothes. JMO

I hope whatever the situation, there is justice for Hailey and those responsible pay the maximum penalty possible. We need justice for Hailey. It just scares me someone is going to get away murder. I cannot believe there has been no arrest yet.

The spotlight immediately fell on Shawn Adkins since he was the last one to see Hailey, and also mom’s boyfriend. He volunteered to take a lie detector test but managed to fail and / or walk out on three of them. Adkins, an avid deer hunter, was asked by one of Hailey’s uncles how anyone could harm this young girl—-he allegedly replied it was like “killing a deer.” Early on he announced Hailey Dunn was a lovely young girl, a good girl, then contradicted himself by saying she was quite promiscuous and a drug user.

Connie Jones, Hailey Dunn’s paternal grandmother, has stated that Hailey told her she was afraid of Shawn.

Hailey told her grandmother that Adkins would pace around the house at night, talking on his cell phone in the bathroom and peering into her bedroom.

“She had told me on a couple of occasions that…he walked around at night and she said that she could see his shadow standing at her door. She said, ‘Nana, he scared me. I’m afraid he’s going to come in there,’” Jones said.

It is also being reported that police had to resolve a domestic dispute between Shawn and Billie last February.

The Colorado City Police Department responded to a domestic dispute in February 2010 after Adkins allegedly threatened Billie and Hailey Dunn, the released documents show. Adkins confirmed he did make the threats, according to documents.

Shawn also said that the couple had a New Year’s Eve party—-3 days after the child went missing. Billie jean disputes this, saying family members came over out of concern for Hailey.

The assumption almost everyone has here is that SA did it and that is that. That is a possibility of course, but the timeline makes that difficult to reconcile. I have certainly considered that, and it is still possible, but unless new information comes to light it seems unlikely IMO.

Respectfully snipped~

In your timeline, how do you account for the nine hours after David left Sunday night, and before Shawn shows up at WSI and Billie leaves for work? Have you completely discounted that something may have happened to Hailey in that specific time period? Everything after that (Monday and Tuesday) is clean-up and creating alibi's for each other?

Being a teen that may have experimented with pot, would not been what most would call a drug user, and it seems the only reason that SA said that and the other character assassination of that poor 13 year old, was to make it appear that she was a promiscuous, drug using runaway to take the heat off of him..

:goodpost: Absolutely. I totally agree. No one has said anything negative against HD other then SA. "If" Hailey was experimenting with pot, I don't think it's that uncommon nowadays. "If" HD sneaking out of the house, maybe it was because of SA. Maybe she felt safer out on the streets then in her own home. Again, SA is the only one who said these things. He was just trying to take the focus off of himself and hoped LE would look elsewhere.

I think everyone may be making a bigger deal out of her sleeping in the livingroom. Someone said that maybe she was just watching tv. Me and my ex husband had joint custody of my daughters and they chose to stay in Lubbock with him when I moved to Aspermont because they wanted to stay close to their friends. When my younger daughter decided to move to Aspermont when she was 14, I moved her little brother to our game room on a futon so whe could have her own room. She fell asleep almost every night on the couch and I quickly discovered it was easier to let her sleep there, than it was to wake her up and move her. She was a heavy sleeper and woke up very grumpy and confused. Her little brother would often go sleep in her room because it was quieter than the gameroom.

With that being said, I can see why she wouldn't want to sleep in her room if someone was doing something to her. If she was out in the open livingroom, there would be less chance for something bad happening because of the family traffic through the room.

I can't see what wouldn't fit about SA as a suspect considering the facts/evidence. The only thing that I could see confusing people is that he seems very smart in his phrasing, etc, in interviews. IMHO, don't worry about that. Some of the most vile criminals in the world can sound completely convincing. Psychopaths are known for having skill at that.

It's sad, because so many of us use that as our radar. I fell for a psychopath's spiel and would have sworn on a stack of bibles that she was not dangerous. Well, she was.

After a crime has been committed, I find it's important to look at the evidence more than any emotional radar. It's mind-blowing how well some criminals can sound convincing and believable and have explanations for things. Are the explanations truly reasonable? Does the lying fall at times that are way too coincidental given the crime (like SA's explanation of his job and coveralls)? Are there phone pings, etc, that show lying about crucial elements of a case?

Who lies about their whereabouts and motivations (quitting vs being fired) during the small window of time a crime happens? Usually the one who did it! The lying is always a huge red flag to investigators, as it should be. It's not rocket science ;)

some feel that SA is nothing more than a convenient patsy. I am not one of them.

I think many lies were told, and not just by SA. I hope the truth will out one day and now that Hailey's remains have been found, that the location and whatever evidence they are able to find on it or at that location will someday lead to that outcome.

Billie says she saw Hailey in bed before she left for work Monday morning. Has Billie ever described the clothing Hailey was purportedly wearing at that time?

Sorry I cannot find a link but I remember clearly BD said SA was the one who told her what HD was wearing when she left the house. As I said before, I find this very telling he would take notice of what Hailey was wearing. And it seems he was right because the pants were an item found with her remains. I could see if it was very cold out and she was leaving in shorts and a tank top but I don't believe her clothing was inappropriate for the day. MOO. There was some confusion about Hailey's footwear. Flip flops or white tennis shoes. Don't know if it was ever clarified.

Hailey is 5 feet, 2 inches tall and weighs 120 pounds. She has hazel eyes and brown hair with blond streaks. When she disappeared, she was wearing navy blue sweatpants, a light-colored short sleeve T-shirt and pink and white tennis shoes.

Why did Shawn even tell LE they should look in Scurry County?

Why did Shawn even tell LE they should look in Scurry County?

I think he was taunting LE (playing a cat & mouse game) - daring them to find her remains, because I think he believed he had hidden her remains so well that they would never be found. I think he wanted searchers to look for Hailey in Scurry County & come up empty-handed, so that he could feel that he had beaten them in his cat & mouse game.

As the months passed by & turned into years, I think SA believed he had won his sick game.

Thank Goodness Curtis Lloyd proved him wrong.

The jig is up, Shawn Adkins.

Because when you are a young girl in your bedroom, the rapist has PRIVACY behind your closed bedroom door. My uncle used to close my door, and climb into my bed, with people asleep in rooms down the hall.

She would have felt much safer on the couch, imo, OUT IN THE OPEN, because her brother and her mother could easliy walk by to use the bathroom. He would never have tried to assault her in the open like that. Take it from someone who knows first hand. Staying in the common areas, are much safer than closed off bedrooms.

And your assertion that an alarm would be raised is faulty. The predator warns you that if you do scream out, he will harm your _____________[ fill in the blanks.] Mine used to say he would hurt my little brother or kill my kitty cat. I never told my parents what he did to me out of that fear.

My heart goes out to you Katy, so sorry you had to endure this horrific assault.

I view it this way also that Hailey felt more vulnerable in her room. There may never have been any sexual assault against her, but she may have had a gut feeling something might happen if she was secluded in her room. Maybe SA had given her reasons to believe he was sexually interested in her but she never voiced her concern because nothing had happened. Possibly she felt if she voiced her concerns, she may have made it worse for herself. She obviously felt some uneasiness about SA as she voiced it to her grandma how SA scared her. Poor Hailey probably had trust issues with so many people who should have loved her and protected her. It seems she felt the only person she could turn to was her grandma. Maybe when her fears against SA where intensified, she escaped to CD's place, hoping when she went back home, things would've eased off or had blown over. This make me so sad to think she couldn't confide in her own mother, the person who was suppose to protect her against monsters and harm. And it makes me irate to think there are mothers out there who protect their man over there own children. :banghead: :moo:

Trying to pass a poly???? That question showed he was being truthful.

Yep - and lo & behold, Hailey's remains were found in Scurry County.

Why did Shawn even tell LE they should look in Scurry County?

The bigger question is why did he tell them a county to look in instead of a town such as Snyder??? I don't refer to where I live as Stonewall County. I live in Aspermont which just happens to be in Stonewall County. We only refer to our county's during weather updates.
