Representatives with the state's Internet Crimes Against Children, or ICAC, task force — which is part of the Utah Attorney General's Office – said the pandemic had kids spending more time on their smart devices while predators were also working from home, free from the in-person oversight and management from their supervisors.

From March through June 2020, ICAC received 749 cyber-tip cases. During the same time in 2019, ICAC only received 490 cases. That is an increase of more than 52%.

  • Teaching their children safety for using social media.
  • Explaining to children to never talk to someone they don’t know on social media and the phone.
  • Emphasizing they should not send pictures, especially sexual in nature, on their phone or Internet.
  • Using parental controls to keep your child safe on the Internet, TV and cell phones. The Internet, TV and cell phone providers can help set up the controls.
  • Monitoring children’s web sites daily and have access to their cell phones. Know the children’s pass codes, check cell phone accounts, read texts and review deleted pictures. Be aware of what your children are posting.
Rutherford Sheriff's detective warns parents to monitor internet access for crimes against children

"This collaborative effort by ICE's Homeland Security Investigations and its foreign law enforcement partners has put dangerous criminals behind bars and, most importantly, has led to the rescue of innocent children," said ICE Attaché for Brazil and Bolivia, Robert Fuentes Jr. "Thank you to our Brazilian partners for their unwavering efforts over the last five years to combat child exploitation through Operation Protected Childhood. And to our partners who have most recently joined our operation, we look forward to the continued fight and relentless effort to put a stop to this horrific crime."

Good morning, my friends. I am only able to catch a handful of posts here and there. Has anyone mentioned or thought about working on cardio to help improve lung function as maybe a precaution ? I have no idea if it would help but....

I suddenly want to start running every day. And not for the wine.
Singing is also great for improving lung function. I come from a musical family & also have multiple chronic illnesses including asthma. Singing helps me clear my lungs, as does a good old full on belly laugh.

This will hurt the drugstores. But, they’ve had years to bring their prescription service online and perfect it. I have to use CVS and I could get delivery. However, I have to pay a fee. I don’t have the cash flow to pay for that convenience. My kid pays for Amazon Prime as a student. I’ve been ordering under her account in order to stay isolated as much as possible.
We have to use CVS too. But if it’s a recurring medication, we have to use the mail delivery option. You can get the first 30 days at the CVS store, but the 90 day continuing refill must go to the mail order. Thank goodness the delivery is free. Maybe a difference in insurance providers? IDK

CDC shortens quarantine period to 10 days with no symptoms (nbcnews.com)

If a person tests negative, an even shorter quarantine is possible.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is shortening the recommended quarantine period from 14 days after a person has been exposed to the coronavirus, offering two alternatives, the agency said Wednesday.

The first alternative is to end quarantine after 10 days if no symptoms are reported, Dr. Henry Walke, the CDC’s Covid-19 incident manager, said on a call with reporters. The second option is to end quarantine after seven days if an individual tests negative and also reports no symptoms...

I think they are making a big mistake. I did not develop symptoms until day 11.

anybody have experience with antibody testing?

i'm like 99.9% sure i had one of the earliest cases of Covid in the US. In December 2019 i was SO SICK ( and i'm generally pretty healthy; i hadn't even had a cold for like 2 years.)
I had the bad dry cough -- i actually woke myself up in the night because i was violently coughing. I remember getting winded and out of breath even just walking a few feet. I had pressure and pain in my sinuses. I coughed up a lot of junk, one time which had a little streak of blood in it which had never happened before. I was also sick for like 2 weeks.

Anyways, since it's been a year I'm wondering if the antibodies would even show up if i took a test? I know people have gotten Covid twice, and i remember hearing that scientists thought that the immunity was rather short lived - like a few months at most? But then again since this is a new virus the discoveries are always changing.

I had walking pneumonia back in Sept. i had more symptoms of covid with that, than when i actually had covid. I was tested for covid then, but negative. I doubted my test results so a few weeks after recovering, i donated blood to have the antibody test. No antibodies.

The experts say to get the vaccine even if you have had it/think you had it.

As part of a Covid-19 and Multiple Myeloma Study, I was given an antibody kit back in June. I had to go to the Health Dept and have it administered. It was a finger prick dropped into a small tester and you waited for a line to appear. The line that appeared indicated I was negative meaning I have not had the virus. I knew I hadn’t had it. I was pretty sure the two people I know that were deathly ill back at the first of the year did.

Steve, a good friend’s husband, did the antibody test in June and it was positive. He was very sick during the last week of December and into the first week of January. I wasn’t around him at all. But his wife, my friend could have been a carrier. I only see her every few weeks tho. So I must have really dodged a bullet there.

My other friend was very sick in February. She stayed isolated for almost 2 weeks not only because she was so ill but because her Mother has cancer. She has not done an antibody test. I encouraged her to but she doesn’t see the need.

These 2 friends mentioned above actually work in the same building. There was a rapid spread of this “flu” going thru the building in Feb & Mar. By the time the quarantine hit mid March, all the employees (800) were working from home. The only people who remain in the building, even now, are the 15 IT people running the servers and addressing computer issues.

That could be. Whatever was negotiated in their contract with CVS. I am not required to use mail away service, thankfully. I am truly hoping people will not be charged their life savings for this vaccine. Everyone who can take it, hopefully will, but I know that is not likely.

that's interesting about Steve. So he still had the antibodies ~6 months after being sick.

Yes, and I mentioned to my friend, see if Steve will donate blood. He could really help someone else. She said “He won’t ever do that, it’s just his nature. He’s too selfish.” I guess after 47 years of marriage, she knows him pretty well.

After we finished our Christmas Eve dinner last night, my girls washed the dishes and put everything away. They chased me out of the kitchen but not before I told them to wipe the entire kitchen down with alcohol wipes when they were done!

I was looking for the Covid testing thread but haven’t found it yet. But here’s my vaccination schedule.

My oncologist has me set for the Modera? Covid vaccine at 7:30 on Thursday. They don’t think there’s anything in it I will react to. I have a stupid amount of allergies so I have to be in a hospital or clinic setting. At 8:00am they’ll do bloodwork. At 8:30am I see the doctor. As long as everything is going well, I can have my treatment afterward. The second dose will be at my next treatment appointment Feb 11th. Same process. I’m taking my own epi pen just because I’m a little scared. I’ll be in a hospital but still.
