No, don't do that! We like it when you talk, keep talking!

I see it this way - Jose is just playing around with everything, hoping he gets a miracle. HHJP has learned to play Jose and get him to admit his mistakes, thus making Jose burn himself. HHJP is the grandmaster here, and Jose wishes he could lick his shiny black shoes. LOL.

We're all good here! *hugs all around*

Absolutely!!

Hugs right back at you.

I like Judge Perry and see him as a no-nonsense judge. I think there's a strategy in his rulings and in extending the deadline for depos. This is a high profile death penalty case, and I think the extension in the deadline is a move to close any loopholes for appeals.

The judge is just making sure KC gets proper representation, even if it is the judge who has to do the work. jmo

Hey, I wasn't trying to correct anyone or rescue anyone. I just saw confusion building and thought I could head it off before feelings got hurt. I like to butt in. It makes me feel special. HaHaHa

An aside.....
I found a really great article about Judge Perry last night. I am going to go find it and I think it will really give folks some insight into his methods.

A snip of Judge Perry's comments.

As I indicated to all of you, this is very, very serious business.   You're asking 12 folks over there to consider sending this man to Florida's electric chair.   And if they make a recommendation of death, then you're asking this court to consider looking at Mr. Mansfield and telling Mr. Mansfield he needs to die in Florida's electric chair.   And besides what I call minor issues, and these are minor issues, the extra expense to the taxpayers because we had to hire two lawyers because it was a death case.   If it wasn't a death case, we wouldn't be paying two lawyers.   We would not need to be back here today.   The disruptions in the lives of these jurors, who God only knows whether or not all of them had a good night's sleep knowing that they would have to come in here and decide whether or not they should recommend that this man die.

Either a person meets the criteria to die in Florida's electric chair, and if the proof is there, we need to put them there.   If the person does not meet the criteria, then so be it.   And that's why we have all of these arguments now back and forth about the death penalty, because people claim that it is willy-nilly applied and that there is no rhyme or basis as to who gets it and who does not get it.
If folks are going to have confidence in our system of justice, then they are going to have to know that we're going to evenly apply it to everyone.   If you meet the criteria and you don't have any proof problems, then so be it, then you go to the electric chair.   If there are no proof problems and the State of Florida can prove their case, then-then the ultimate sanction can be imposed.   Then we will not have the naysayers who constantly, constantly point out-and one justice on the United States Supreme Court got so frustrated that-who used to be a big supporter of capital punishment and said the he wasn't going to support it any more because it could not be evenly applied because there was no rhyme or reason.
So what is it that the State of Florida wants in this case?   Because he has been found guilty by a jury.   He has been adjudged to be guilty and fingerprinted here in open court.   Now, that stands.
Now, are you saying that in exchange for waiving the death penalty, you want him to give up his, quote, appellate rights?   And I'll be honest with you, I don't know how valid that is, but ․
What is it the State of Florida wants?   I am just confused.

This is a case from 2005.

This is an article about Judge Perry's father. What an amazing man. Judge Perry was raised well.

He sent four children to college. One became a teacher, one a surgeon, one a lawyer and one a judge. Another son become a business owner.

As a father, Perry was as strict at home as he was tough on the street. If he didn't like the way the lawn was mowed or the garage was cleaned, it had to be done again.

One time, when Perry Jr. was home for the summer from Tuskegee College, he spilled beer in the car he had borrowed from his father to go to work.

"Young man, how old are you?" his father said.

"You know how old I am," the son replied.

"You're 18 years old. You're not supposed to be drinking," Perry Sr. said. "If I hear you've been drinking beer, I'm going to arrest you and put you in jail myself."

His father didn't take him to jail, but he did take away the car keys. For the next month, Perry Jr. walked or took the bus to his summer job cleaning floors at a hospital.

Additionally, Judge Perry provided additional written jury instructions. The defense challenged him, claiming that they were not authorized by law.

I love the way Judge Perry runs his courtroom. He is a no nonsense Judge. When I see him questioning the attorneys I look at him as preserving the record. He wants every issue on the record for appeals. No private emails or phone calls for him. Everything will be documented. I LOVE him.

After trying to work out what the he!! Baez is up to with his pithy attitude and snipe I had a thought today......could he be trying to provoke the judge into leaning towards the prosecution in an attempt to get him to rule unfairly in their favor at least once and give Casey grounds for appeal? If so HHJP isn't biting. I am 100% for HHJP erring on the side of caution in all this, there will be appeals lodged after the trial, I think he isn't about to make it easy for them.

I think he's doing a great job. I admire his impartiality because I tend to have rather black and white opinions in this case. When I feel he's given the defense something they don't deserve I have to remember that I have such strong opinions I couldn't even be a juror here or maybe anywhere, let alone a judge in this case. So, BP has my full support. Death is different and I want ICA to have had every opportunity at a defense.
She'll lose and BP will throw the book at her IMO. It's just hard to be patient :)

I'm definitely glad we have him now. Strickland just wasn't moving things along and I think he was a bit too soft, though I find him fascinating.

This trial will be televised right? If so anyone know what channel will be showing it? If local any streaming cause I don't want to miss it. lol

  • #156
If it is not streamed live you are going to see a whole huge crowd going wild. There will be screams, crying and wailing. I am already pre-planning menus so I do not get interrupted with food questions on what is for dinner. It will be in a round dish that either pops in the microwave or oven. Hubby will have lunch recess to get it all out of his system on anything he needs to ask or say to me. I will be plugged in on here, watching on TruTv too. I do not want to miss a word when they go to commercial. The day CA, GA and LA testify I am sure I will have rag stuffed in my mouth so the neighbors do not call the cops from all the screaming coming from our house.

BTW I love HHJP!

I am like you KaRN, and sometimes I find myself saying "enough is enough, when is HHJP going to force JB to do his job" because I would have dropped kicked JB by now.... but then as patience would have it, and some sound logic from AZlawyer, I realize if I were judge, ICA would definitely have a case for appeal. And my patience is often rewarded by HHJP when he provides JB just enough rope to .... well you know

LOL, I hear you! I'm lucky in that my husband cooks all meals and even he'll deliver my plate to me at my desk. I just need to know what station and or what link. TruTV covers court cases still like old channel "Court TV"?

Unfortunately the judge is forcing JB to do his job, which he should not have to do, but leading the way for him, spoon feeding him because JB has no experience which we can see by his motions. Maybe it is JB's ego that gets in the way but clearly CM is experienced and either CM has forgotten the basics or he just has no control over what JB does. I think it is the latter. jmo

I heard they will be covering it. Just not for sure how in-depth it will be if they are.
