:couch:

I have a somewhat different take on this tape. I find it terribly sad and can't mock her. She understands the least of any of them. She truly appears to me as someone with a LD, unlike her cuz and his ex--who, IMO, would have been in my ES classes. Can you imagine the challenges of raising a child like this? It doesn't just happen to the poorer people either.... I find myself having more sympathy than I thought I could muster. I am genuinely saddened by listening to her as she clearly doesn't understand. Her cuz and his ex are, IMO, miles beyond her comprehension. Her almost hero-like sounding comments re RC just confirm to me that this child KNOWS no better. JMO

Could be Helplessly, but I find her much harder. Angry, rebellious and hard. Now Misty I worry has the serious LD. As angry as I get sometimes at her I believe that there is a reason why everyone has doted on her for her entire life. They are hiding something about Misty IMO.

Never expected Hope to be so endearing and make such good use of the English language.

She looks just like her granma...mo.

. What a family! I like the Croslins better...LOL

I like the Croslins better too!
I think this tape was released to show the judge that this little girl has not learned anything from her 3 months in jail. She shows no remorse for her actions, and truly believes she deserves nothing more than the Salvation Army, (whatever that is!) The prosecution is going to love playing this "little goodie" for the judge. I'm assuming lying to the judge about her job won't sit too well either. The bad part for the prosecution is, she can prove that she really isn't smart enough to understand what she is pleading to. Pitifull!

could be Grandma--but MC is a chameleon and can play to whoever she needs to...she may have some base LD going on but she is more an ES (Emotional Support) case IMO and experience. Hope doesn't have the comprehension Misty does. I suspect that if you encountered Hope in different situations that she would be essentially the same...she lacks adaptive behavior that MC excels at and we have all seen how Misty can change behavior depending on circumstance and audience...JMO but this case...:banghead:

Actually, HH, I thought her Mother showed incredible restraint during that phone call. The normal response would be to hang up on her, or tell her to stop the profanity when she yelled at her Mother. That only would have made her behavior escalate. Her Mother complimented her on her appearance, called her beautiful, remained calm, and let her know she still loved her. This girl had to have been very, very hard on everyone living with her growing up, the behavior may have escalated at puberty. It has nothing to do with the way some children are raised, or bad parenting. Not sure if it is oppositional defiant disorder, or something else going on in the brain. H+ll, on the parents and all arround them, other siblings. Hope was able to calm herself down and tell her Mom she was sorry. A lot of kids are not able to ever do that. This may be the first example of good parenting I have actually heard in this case!
Thank's HH for reminding me to look a little closer at what I hear. :blowkiss:

I am listening to this right now and WOW what a potty mouth !! I would hang up on her and refuse to take her calls!

Who in the hell does this chick think she is ? Talking to her mother like that, if I was her I would be taking any deal she is handed ... she won't take the 6 years if she has to do rehab and another program, just put her in for the 15 years ...please by all means lock her a** up for the 15 ....

What is a No Contest Plea?

When a person is charged with commiting a crime, he or she is given the opportunity to respond. There are three possible responses: a guilty plea, not guilty plea, and no contest plea. If a defendant does not enter a plea, a plea of not guilty will be entered for him or her. From the Latin, nolo contendre, no contest means the person does not refute the charges, but also does not claim guilt for the charges. This can save time if a person convicted of a crime must stipulate to each of the charges.

However, while the person charged with the crime is not pleading guilty or contesting the charges, he or she is often considered guilty when pleading no contest. If sentencing for a crime is immediate then the plea does not carry any special weight when a judge considers sentencing.

In fact, a person who wants a trial to defend his or her innocence would probably not use a no contest plea. Sometimes a court can be petitioned for a change of plea, but this is not always allowed. Instead, the no contest plea is almost always used when the plea results in immediate sentencing. Additionally, a person convicted of a crime who pleaded no contest is just as guilt as if he or she pleaded guilty.

In some cases, however, clients who feel they would not win at charges but assert their innocence are convinced to plead no contest since this will result in a plea bargain. If the case really seems unwinnable in a trial by jury, a shorter sentence option may be more attractive. Yet the person still wants to somehow not make an absolute statement of guilt. In this case, one may plead no contest to suggest that one is resigned to accepting punishment for the charges but is not making an assertion of guilt.

This may not always be an effective strategy, particularly if the person asserting innocence may also be facing civil court for behaviors for which he or she is pleading no contest. In fact, a no contest plea is often looked at as a plea of guilty by the civil court, and thus the person is likely to lose lawsuits in civil court that result from damages incurred by the alleged crime. The no contest plea does not keep the court from finding the person guilty. In fact it almost always results in conviction.

State law in the US is usually the determining factor in whether a person can plead no contest. Sometimes the no contest plea is not allowed. Canadian laws leave decisions as to when the no contest plea can be used up to individual judges. Some countries do not allow for a no contest plea at any time.

Misty and Hope seem to think that this is something minor in their lives. I honestly do not believe they realize the severity in what they R facing. But, then and again, looking at court records and arrest reports in Putnam County, they do not severly punish the criminals for their crimes, especially compared to other counties, states, etc.
I would be scared to death if I were sitting in either of their places!
None of these 3 are afraid of going to prison .... Ron willing to cover for Hope and get additional time .... hmmmmm. As long as they get money sent to them to buy honey buns, they will be alright! Whatever.

What's with the Salvation Army thing? Hope's lawyer is trying to get her in the Salvation Army?

The Salvation Army offers all kinds of drug rehab programs, there was one in my area that was geared toward the very young - teens.

My goodness! The whining, the drawling, the cursing, the sense of entitlement, the total lack of personal accountability is amazing. Just amazing.

  • #173
ITA Grace! WOW!!!! the language! I would have NEVER spoken to my mom in this manner, especially when i am sitting in jail and asking my mom to take a phone call so i can talk to her like that? My mom would have hung up on me.

just WOW!!!!

Hope at the tender age of 19 has had 5 or 6 arrests.

How sad is that!

On a good note though, she does apparently understand being a "stripper" is not something to be proud of.

Can you be a "stripper" if you're under 21, legally?

She really doesn't look like what I would perceive a stripper to look like. She's a bit on the pudgy side, imo. But what do I know........

Hope - I'm not going to a program and doing rehab at the same time. :waitasec:

No Hope keep it up honey, Ron will be your charachter witness and get you off prison time.

Hope - I'll tell you what! I'm not going into boot camp, they think I'm bad now, wait till I get out.

Bad girl, whatcha gonna do when they come for you.

Hope strikes me as another Wangster wanna be. Yeah Hope, you tell em how it's gonna be. :croc:

I thought Hope was the quiet one too, until now.

She sure was excited to tell mom about her special ride with Ron though, the high light of her day, I guess. So, Ron told her that they are offering him 25 years and that he wants to "take" her charge ? I'd get that offer in writing myself.

I can't remember, did Hope have pills in her hand? Please somebody spoil me and don't make me find the video. The only thing I can think of is that Hope grew up around that kind of language coming from her mother. Otherwise, it wouldn't just roll off her tongue like that. Seems to me that it all starts with a mother......no respect there, means no respect for teachers, LE, or anyone else in this world. Geez, this whole bunch is a bottom feeder society. Every time I listen to tapes like this, makes me appreciate more and more what lawyers and LE go through, day in and day out.

What I got out of Hope's call from MARCH 21, 2010:

Hope did not understand what her attorney did in court!

Hope said she did not plea no-contest, he attorney did!

Hope is under the impression she is just going to the salvation army program, no jail time.

Ron got a deal for 25yrs in prison.

Ron got denied drug court!

Ron said he was going to try and take on Hopes charge and she told him no.

Hope got to ride in the cop car with Ron, wonder if the car was wired and what else was said.

Hope claims she dose not understand what her attorney did in court 3/31/2010.

Hope has two different court dates/charges. One for open court and the other.

Hope would rather go to prison than do both, the 6yr mandatory drug program and rehab.

Hope claims she would not do both, the youth offender program and the drug program.

Hope claims that if she has to do both, if they think she is bad now, WAIT UNTIL SHE GETS OUT! (Wow, she is a cocky girl! She is set in her ways and said she is not doing both!)

Hope sounds as if her attorney gave her the impression that she is not doing any jail time.

Hope said she never had any pills, she only sat in the car.

Hope also claims she is a stripper, but lied to the judge and told him she didn't have a job.

Hope said that they are all 10 steps in front of the game and if everybody would know how to pick up their dam steps....everybody was suppose to plea in open court and she seems confused as to why they didn't.
She is pist.

Hope is confused and Heated regarding how things went down in court.

Hopes mother said that Teresa, granny, her, JD is talking to his people, Crystal, and Rene are coming in as her witness to speak on Hope's behalf as her character witness.

Hope claims that nobody likes them, referring to her family.

Hope is pist because she wants to know what is going on with her old man...not sure who she is referring to. Her father or male friend/boyfriend.

Hope's mother says she is moving tomorrow in this conversation.

Hopes mother wanted her to call home to make sure she knew what was going on in court and Hope claims that she did not understand why her attorney plead no-contest. Her mother is concerned that Hope dose not understand what her attorney said and what happen in court. She told Hope she needed to talk to her attorney again. Hope said that they need to watch the video again because she never had any pills in her hand. Her mother says, maybe Hope's attorney got her confused with Misty.

Hope claims she wasn't paying attention and her attorney did not explain to her what was going on regarding pleading no-contest.
Hope's mother said the attorney told her that in the video Hope was caught red handed pretty much, (had pills in her hand) and Hope goes ballistic and said she never had any pills in her hand. Hope said she was only sitting in the back of the vehicle. That Misty had the pills and had cut two pills to try to say the dope boys f*K her over.
Hope ask her mother if she watched the video because she never had pills in her hand.

Hope's mother tried to explain Youth offender program is 6 yrs mandatory and that she may also have to do probation.

Her mother claims she would not do all that time most likely unless the judge wants to be a jerk.
Her mother tells her if she screws up in this point of the game that she will get 15 yrs mandatory. Hope claims she rather do prison than do both, drug rehab and youth offender program.

Hope says she rode back with Ronald from the hearing and she was so happy. She said that Ron told her that he was offered a deal of 25 yrs in prison for his charges. She also says that Ronald was denied drug court! She also told him he would write her, but that he has not written anyone.
Hope also states that she dose not understand what her attorney did at the hearing. The only thing she understood is that her attorney is trying to get her into a the salvation army youth program. Hope said that she is not doing both. Her mom tells her that the attorney told her that she is trying to get her into the Youth program 3-6yrs. But it seems that she will not get jail time unless the judge wants to be a jerk. Her mom goes on and on about the program about the program and probation. Hope said she rather go to prison if she has to do a program and rehab at the same time. She said she is not doing both. Hope sounds like a little brat as well.
Hope also says that she told the judge she didn't have a job because she didn't want to tell him she was a stripper. She said she feels the judge doesn't like her, her mom says it looks like the judge doesn't like Misty, like he has nothing to do with her.

Hope says she did not plea no-contest, that her attorney did. Her mother tried to explain to her what happen in the court and she goes ballistic because she claims that she did understand. She says that she never had any pills in her hands in the car. Her mother says she needs to re-talk to her attorney.

Hope is really pist that her attorney plead no-contest. She tried to explain to her mother what an open court is about people that can go in and talk about the defendant. Sort of like her mother could and others can come in court and talk on Hopes behalf. Her mom mentions that Teresa (if they give her the time off), and others will be there.

IMO, I see a problem here if Hope is claiming she did not plea no-contest and didn't understand what went on in court.

Bolded by me ...

Exactly! My husband's family is just like that. UGH! We're separated now .... I wonder why. :waitasec:

Anyway ... yup, Husband's brother and his wife talk like that, allowed the kids to talk like that, and everyone in the family and friends ... talk like that. So hey, of course, the grandchildren are going to talk like that ... and the adults have no problem with it, it's just a way of life for them. :snooty:

Hmmmm ... I wonder if this is because, she thinks (or KNOWS) that you can get drugs in prison?
