TODAY IS JCs FIRST THANKSGIVING WITH BIO FAMILY...
I think she will have some major comparisons after this day.
I wish them a very fun filled day - And much to be grateful for.
After reading her story I feel blessed

I just came back from the parade with my grand kids, we had a sleepover and it was great.
I let their parents cook in peace, and I had a great time :balloons:

I can laugh at my old psych reports, all the doctors that said I would never have a sex life, or children, or be able to feel empathy. The ones that projected that I would never be able to cope in normal social situations or catch up with the rest of my age group...

I think it is magnificent that you did beat all the odds.
It sure does testify how amazing the human spirit can be.
While I take my hat off to you for all your achievements.
I wish more people were just like you... but you are rare.
And knowing what is real is of value. I too hope she can beat all the odds.
I sure want to know what she is faced with, and while I may not have a
close up view of what she is going through, and that is how it should be.
I now do understand far more about what she is facing, I already knew much,
and now I know More.
I just think the headline was very wrong, and designed like a tabloid
which I stated in the first post about the NE article.

OT: but related.
There is a huge difference between Positive thinking and the glass is 1/2 full. HUGE difference...
I did teach motivational Seminars in my day which did include how the mind does work.

Here is a metaphor I use for positive thinking:
If you have a ball of chit and you put lots of cake and whipped cream on top it will still stink, because it is still chit.
That is positive thinking. It includes a huge cover up of the deeper thoughts and feelings.

I will leave it at that....
None of what I just said means that we should not be optimistic. HUGE difference too.

I don't have the life that I would have had but I'm a better and more compassionate person because of what happened to me. I am actually a very happy person now. I had (gladly) to raise my 2 nieces (I love them as if they were my own children) after they were abandoned by their parents and that made me get sober so I could be a positive influence for them (ones in college now and the others an honor roll student so I guess I was a decent influence on them) and that kept me sane, along with my pets. I also take care of my widowed and disabled mother. .

I just want to say that I am so thrilled that they finally found their privacy with no tabloids, no more buzz around them.

It is a great thing for them to now go on with their lives and their healing, and adjusting till they are ready to come out again.
And they may not come out again till Terry's book.

GOD BLESS THEM ALL And I hope they have a great great year. 2010 will be the first year JC would have celebrated the New Year with her real family :beats:

Something I learned as a child... is they just keep on changing cars sometimes cloths too LOL and move in ways that are not easy to track, they get around it.
Yap had family in secret service I was 8 when my uncle used to take me along on these rides to wherever.

Whoa, the media can get access to your address by obtaining a copy of your ID card and/or license? I thought those were private? That's kind of creepy if they can.

All that said, I think she'd be okay to get her license. She isn't really in the news that much these days, and even when she is, it doesn't create nearly as much buzz as it did before, so I don't think she'd be a big paparazzi/tabloid target. There's always the risk, of course, but I think it's lessened a lot with time.

I assume that she would need to take some sort of test to get her drivers license (unless in CA they just hand them out to anyone who asks for one). That is more likely the delay there, she may need to learn to drive first and I expect it is the reason why she has to pick it up in person, lol.

You're probably right. She probably has a learner's permit and hasn't gone to take the driving portion of the test yet.

Sometimes it seems like they just hand out driver's licenses for the asking, but actually, people have to pass both a written test and a driving test in California.

The California I.D. card is almost a must have for anyone of any age who doesn't drive or doesn't have a driver's license for whatever reason. To get one, you have to apply for it in person, fill out an application, give a thumbprint, have your picture taken, give your social security number, verify your birth date and legal presence (in other words provide a birth certificate).

The new I.D. gets mailed out within 60 days.

It is against the law to run a "name" through the DMV just for the heck of it. Even law enforcement people may not do that. Obviously, DMV people may not do it either.

Additional thought, it is likely that Jaycee applied for a "learner's permit" at the same time she applied for the ID card.
