This is so sad about the van being found and the remaining family there waiting .... on the other hand, they at least have found they and can give a decent burial. I would want my loved ones bodies.

This is only one of so many sad and tragic stories we are going to hear about. Brace yourselves. :tears:

• Local officials in Texas have reported at least 30 confirmed and suspected flood-related deaths.

Don't know how accurate this is, but it says 30.

Any updates on Port Arthur?

Last I saw was a plea for rescue boats.

Residents of Port Arthur posted urgent pleas for rescue on social media Wednesday as the Texas city struggled to function after days of hammering rains from Tropical Storm Harvey that forced closure of the nation's largest oil refinery there.

The city was slammed by more than two feet of rain over a 24-hour period, flooding the civic center that had been serving as a shelter for more than 100 flood victims. A community center then was set up for evacuees.

The first responders will have such a daunting task once they can get back into all of the flooded areas. They will have to go door to door searching everywhere even in all of the attics looking for any deceased victims and in businesses too. Once the floodwater goes away I think more are going to be found either in vehicles or those who were swept away when on foot.

My heart breaks for all the first responders who have such a long road ahead of them. It will be horrible once it turns from a search and rescue to recovery. :( Their own health will be at risk as well.

I know Spellz posted about some Michigan flooding. Ont. Canada had some as well. Nothing compared to Harvey of course.

DH encountered flooding on I696 on his way home Monday evening. Traffic was moving very slowly through a particular area, and we heard later that the freeway was eventually closed due to rising water levels. Flash flood alerts a few times during the evening. We kept checking the basement to make sure the sump pump was running.

So very sad to see more deaths. Prayers and thoughts going out for all affected.
