Had a few close friends evacuated from a vacation at Fort Walton Beach last night, they arrived home safely this morning. I hope everyone makes it through this beast of a storm safely!

Landfall made with 155 mph sustained winds. Between the AFB and Mexico Beach.

Explain that to the dude on Fox, lol.

thats funny my dear !!

those of us who have been in these know how scary (especially at night) the gusts are

it really is like an approaching jetliner -- you hear it "coming" getting closer then you start feel it then it is like is swishes on top of you but you never know how intense each swoosh is it is very scary

then just like a plane going away but if there is another jet on the way in you have the departing jet and the incoming jet and stuff is vibrating but you just have know idea what is gonna happen from second to second

msnbc crew being idiots

they are live trying to hold up the sliding glass door

it looks like a front loading washer machine

the main dude just basically tried to tell them on air to quit trying to hold up the damn glass door and get the mattress \

kinda helps with staying alive

CNN's Wolf Blitzer reassured viewers they have brought their crews in. Apparently they are swamped with calls from worried viewers!

119 mph gust on Tyndall Air Force Base.

106 mph gust in Port St Joe.

(fox news)

ETA: MSNBC reporting 129 mph gust on TAFB.

I have constantly been watching FOX since 4am this morning. Their reporters are excellent and seasoned who have reported on hurricanes for many years.

Even though I dont care much for Sheppard Smith he has excellent knowledge when it comes to hurricanes.

It is so strange to hear our own area in Georgia being named with this hurricane. Seems surreal.

And the worst thing that is so frightening is our area will have the bad weather come in the night and early morning hours when its pitch dark. Sheppard just said it could still be a cat 2 when it gets to us.

My family in Florida that I have mentioned live closer to Mexico Beach and Port St. Joe. So I know their homes had to have suffered catastrophic damage. They may not be able to return for weeks.

Continuing to pray for everyone.

Wow. I walked away for 10 minutes and totally missed that.

ETA: They are broadcasting from the room in Panama City Beach - in the background people are holding the mattress in place. Scary.

It was Lestor Holts crew!!

I like the MSNBC weather dude - never seen him till Florence -- just listening to him ( he is a visual thinking which is how I process info so learn stuff ) he just knows his stuff

i am not being snarky i love miss stephanie ruhle but (BUT) and lestor just did it

how on earth have you been covering stuff like this and not pick up some basics ?

it was interesting tho (therapist stuff! ha ) when the main weather dude on air told whoever was being a moron standing in front of sliding glass doors pretending to the incredible hulk (!) to do the mattress ok

just a few minutes ago - it was like ugh oh that was our prima donna Lestors gang!!

the main weather guy then did a thing like I did not know it was lesters crew and dont care just wanted them to be safe

But I do think there might have been a little behind the scenes drama regarding the main weather guys admonishment regarding being total idiots on national tv !!!

drama drama drama!
