Hurricane Sandy updates

I am not in a direct hit area. Wind and rain for us and nothing compared to what folks are enduring and will. Ironic part is my friend "Sandy" will arrive at the noon hour so she is not alone. She hates wind. She is not liking sharing the name of a Monster Storm. Stay safe all :please:

Well good grief. Found the Bounty's FB page. Apparently, doing a bit of reading, instead of staying out at sea to the eastern edge of Sandy, where the weakest part is, this captain chose to sail in, towards the strongest part of the storm, trying to skirt it to the south and reach land. Really, really bad move.

Thank goodness they're being rescued, but all those lives at risk - even still, until they're all in.

Good grief was is up with that Captain :banghead: We dont need another movie "Perfect Storm" Part 2!

Latest update from coast guard is that the crew is actually 16 total, not 17. 14 rescued, two currently missing IN THE WATER. They are sending out another rescue crew. :(

Lemme try to find link to statement.

Update from NBC Station WITN-TV:

"The HMS Bounty, a 180-foot, three-mast tall ship, was last marked about 90 miles southeast of Hatteras.

The ship has sunk, according to the Coast Guard at 8:45 a.m. Monday.

Just before 8 a.m., the Facebook page for the HMS Bounty says 14 of the 16 people who had to abandon their ship have been hoisted to safety.

Break:

Discrepancy in reporting. Ships manifest list 16 crew members, reports were 17. Two being reported as missing.

stupid boat captains thinking they can ride out anything putting his crew at risk and the rescue teams that have to save them :banghead:

Today show just said that all highways in CT will be closed later today

Just rain here right now in Alexandria VA....

My youngest daughter and her husband bought a new townhome on Madison in Old Town Alexandria. They are just blocks from the Potomac. No work for either of them in D.C. today, so they are with his Mother in Springfield because she is sick.

It is supposed to be cold, rainy, and windy. Nothing too bad projected for now at least! Thank God!

Take care!

Weird. I just had to make a run to the bank, and while it's raining lightly and a little blustery, it is COLD. Our temp is 54, but I swear it feels about 15 degrees colder out there.

There saying on TWC that the storm is worse that they predicted comparing it to the storm in 1962 that obliterated the Jersey Shore.

Please know that all of you who are in this storm's path have my thoughts and prayers. Please take care!
