Hurricane Sandy updates

  • #1,461
at first i was outraged at the homeowner, after further reading, it became apparent that Ms. Moore did not have the children with her during her attempts to ask for help ( by the time she threw the flowerpot, the babies were probably dead)

Does anyone think it's strange that there are no further updates or clarifications of this story? In several media outlets last week the articles stated that the funerals would be a public event , due to the high profile nature of this story and how it has gripped peoples hearts.

I'm thinking, that CNN and others ran this story as a media sensation blaming the homeowner, Alan, and no longer wants to touch it after further investigation by LE, and perhaps by the fact that many different versions have surfaced, many of which state that the mother lost the kids before approaching any homeowner?

thoughts?

I agree with you. And I think the election has kind of taken over. All the storm coverage now seems focused on how it is affecting the election.

And I think we may never know the correct version of the story. If anything - wonder if mom will eventually vilified for taking the children out in the first place. There seems to be a backlash in the media against those who would not evacuate when they were told to.

Sad story all the way around.

I can't remember what I was searching under, but I found a website that is taking donations for the cost of the funeral and burial of the two boys. I'm not sure if it's due to money or if possibly the funeral home they wanted to use might not be up and running yet. I don't know that this donation page is legit, but here is the link if you want to see it:

I've read in several articles that a cause of death was going to be determined--maybe the medical examiners are overwhelmed at the moment. Also, there have been some new articles come out recently that state the boys' father is originally from Ireland, so it's possible the couple has been waiting until relatives can get here.

Consequently, this article has some info on the dad's background and mentions the funeral will happen sometime this week:

*MANDATORY EVACUATION: EAST OF BAYVIEW AVENUE IN THE BAYVILLE SECTION OF BERKELEY TOWNSHIP DUE TO THE IMPENDING NOR'EASTER (UPDATE)*** Nick shares this video of firefighters altering people to the east of Bayview Avenue in the Bayville section of Berkeley Township. Earlier report from BTPD: "The Berkeley Twp OEM is advising that due to the impending Nor'Easter storm a mandatory evacuation for homes east of Bayview Ave has been ordered. High winds and flooding to areas already hit by Hurricane Sandy are expected. Residents can use the shelter at Central Regional High School for assistance and supplies."

i've also noticed that since Sunday, most of the media repeating this story is from Ireland, being the father, as you said, is Irish-American.

Awful situation, but I don't think Mrs. Moore was denied help because of her race, In those winds, so loud, you cannot hear the person talking even if you are shoulder to shoulder, also, I'm sure her voice was hoarse from her screaming, maybe confused Alan as to gender, adding to the fact that there were no children.

I feel the press has been unfair, and No apology or corrections, updates from CNN, the whole thing makes me sick and makes Americans , specifically, NY'ers look bad for the unfortunate decisions made by Mrs. Moore, I don't get off on bashing her, but my point is that the press and she pointed blame at a homeowner who was asked to help her when it was already too late for the boys. Here is article where she said " "I asked you to help me, you b***ard!"

the angels were autistic? thank you for the link

I'm not sure if they were or not. The website is run by a friend of Glenda's who's taking donations to help them cover the cost of the funeral.

I read the dnainfo article the other day. It's hard to say by now what the real story is. I was hoping someone in MSM would set the record straight by now. I found a very interesting blog that does challenge the MSM stories, but I know blogs aren't allowed to be linked. If you look for the unreported Glenda Moore story, you should find it pretty easily.

The article also says she tried to physically attack the man and had to be restrained by police.

Makes me think it is a darn good thing he didn't let her in the house during the storm! If she is that crazy and violent after the fact what on earth would she have been like that night? Being trapped with a crazy stranger in your house for hours, not being able to leave, not being able to call the authorities, or get them out of the house, that would have been absolutely horrible!

Well at least now he doesn't have to feel bad about not letting her in. She is lucky she didn't get shot, in Georgia she probably would have.

I agree, I just can't imagine what she did for 12 hours after knocking on the doors., Did she eventually fall asleep? did she stare at the water all night? 12 hours is a long time, I can't imagine this.. she lost her kids and knocked on the door by 7:00 pm , then there is no mention of what happened in the 12 hours before she ran to a police car at 7:30 am? did she lose her cellphone?

yes, the one with the map of the route the SUV took, it does look like she took the beach road and was hurrying to the Verazzano Narrows bridge, which was to close at 7 pm.

I hope the media continues to dial back on this story. We really don't have to pick a villain between the so-called "racist neighbor" and the allegedly "irresponsible mother". No doubt the mother is hysterical and even projecting her guilt onto the neighbor. (I'm not judging her guilty, but I think we'd all feel responsible if we lost our children in a storm.)

As for the neighbor, I think even a lot of actual racists would admit two, black toddlers during an emergency. I'm not going to assume he knowingly turned away a 2-year-old from his door. As for not responding to a flower pot thrown through his door, who would?

Unfortunately, I'm not surprised by this article. Alan, the neighbor accused of not helping Glenda and her two boys, has been harassed enough that he's moved out of his house.

He should sue CNN for expenses as to having to leave his home. CNN is so quick to try and incite racial tension with "whitey" did it. i never watch CNN or HLN anymore. There news facts are disgusting just to get breaking "news"

This is truly a very sad story. There is no one to blame but the mother. It's the same to me as the african painted dogs killing the 2 year old. Momentary lapse of reason on the mothers part.

http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/world/55192334-68/bodies-police-kelly-moore.html.csp

Two-year-old Brandon Moore and 4-year-old Connor Moore were swiped into swirling waters after their mother placed them on the roof of her SUV on Monday amid rushing waters that caused the vehicle to stall, Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said as he announced the discovery of the bodies.

"She put the two boys on the roof of the car to avoid the water, and then another large wave came, and it apparently washed them away," Kelly said. "Of course, the mother was totally, completely distraught. She started looking for them herself, asking people to help her look."

I'm disappointed in CNN, you'd think they would get their facts straight before releasing the story. Makes you wonder about their agenda. How quick they were to play the race card, create outrage & blame this one homeowner when she said she knocked on *several* doors. Alan's mistake was appearing on camera and agreeing to talk to them, hope he is able to sue them successfully.

now this newspaper printed his full name, that's pretty bad.
Figures, look at the name of the newspaper, they are blaming Alan too. I don't think the Moore's will ever take responsibility, seems that is her coping method thus far.

I have read different versions of this story leaving me to wonder what really happened. One story says they were washed from her arms, another story claims she left them hanging on to a tree while searching for help, and today a different story quoting a sheriff saying she placed them on the roof of her vehicle and they were washed away. One story says she was trying to get to a relative's house, another she was going to work (her nursing job) and still another saying she was heading to a shelter. One story said she had the children when she knocked on the door -- another story says she did not have the children. A story said she had the children, got no answer to her knocking, and lost her grip on them while trying to pick up a flower pot to break in the house. So what really happened?
