Hurricane Sandy updates

From what I can see; the site is legit; run by a family friend. I emailed to ask if they'd consider setting up a FB page to go with it. I found another FB page taking donations to a different location (Staten Island Police). I'll post back if I get a reply.

Reply;
Thank you so much. The boys were laid to rest. I will be shutting down the site shortly. Thank you for reaching out.

I went to the police page & do not see anything.

Sorry about that... Is the carousel close to the edge on the pier?
article-2225865-15C87582000005DC-478_964x462.jpg

Yeah, so glad Jersey Girl is safe. She's a good heart.

Again I asked after the carousel in Seaside as my nephew had asked if I had any photos of it. I do. Plenty. Again it's just a "thing" with memories attached. People lost so much. They are cold, hungry, and devastated so a carousel is not a huge deal.

Thanks all for the heads up.

The Seaside carousel is over 100 years old. It's all wooden and handcarved. I think it's named for some Doctore Moreland maybe? It was never as long as I recall on the water side of the boardwalk. It was inside I think Casino pier. It has to be royally messed up.

Again, memories and things can be replaced though.

Still sending up prayers for everyone.

"Supersonic Hurricane Neutraliser"

http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn16172-invention-supersonic-hurricane-neutraliser.html

Of course I am no rocket scientist. The storm is done and people must focus on recovery. However, that sonic boom heard and felt at the Jersey shore on October 19th or 20th is bugging me.

Could they have actually pulled that off? Could they have actually stopped the hurricane from being worse? Orrrrr have they made that all up to keep our focus off something worse?

The mother's story in this situation had changed a million times. She has never told a consistent and convincing version.

I feel very badly for her and the pain of losing her sons so tragically but the responsibility for those choices is must be laid at her feet and no one elses. She made a serious judgement in error on that night in many ways.

It is simply a tragic story for all involved.

I have not read much of the story. I read a story about the guy who's house she went to; there were direct quotes from him that were really cold. I read another story about how she tried to leave & got stuck.

I just did a google search; found a video that shows where she was; her SUV went off the road; looks like it's lower then the street.

Anderson Cooper video

To go directly to where they show her car; click here. You can see where it looks like water behind him.

Some people aren't good in storms; others are not good when someone gets hurt. I'm usually able to keep my cool but there are times that I can't. I can't even imagine her emotions during the storm; debating to stay or go; then leaving & it looks like her car went off of the road.

I can't imagine her trying to get the kids out of the car & walking if the road was flooded & whatever happened; I'm surprised she can recall much of anything. The guy looks like a jerk. Watch the video.

Is Ferretti really a doctor, I mean is he practicing? I thought it odd that the news reports didn't refer to him as Dr. Ferretti??

He may appear a jerk but that does not mean the childrens death was his fault. Trying to blame him is crazy. He is not the one who put them in that SUV and drove into the water.

Upon rereading my post, I feel like I sounded kinda heartless which was not my intent at all. I truly cannot imagine the agony this poor woman is going thru over the loss of her kids. But I didn't not feel the man should have been blamed for not doing more.

I don't think he appears a jerk. People want someone to blame, but I don't think he is the one to blame. Sounds to me that he was scared during a hurricane, which anyone would be. Not everybody is a hero. In fact most people aren't heroes.

Can Glenda Moore be charged with any crime?

I think because of the tragedy of the two boys ending up dead, no one is going to pursue any charges.

IMO, CNN really jumped the gun when they were reporting. I feel they left out a lot of details compared to many of other accounts that were published by other sources. I'm not sure any news source has the absolute true facts of what happened, but I think the fact that there are so many different versions is interesting.

Obama met with Damien and Glenda Moore today and praised the police lieutenant who helped find the the two boys.

i agree, however, if she were a babysitter and those 2 boys were not hers, I'm wondering what crime she would be charged with?

I have read different versions of this story leaving me to wonder what really happened. One story says they were washed from her arms, another story claims she left them hanging on to a tree while searching for help, and today a different story quoting a sheriff saying she placed them on the roof of her vehicle and they were washed away. One story says she was trying to get to a relative's house, another she was going to work (her nursing job) and still another saying she was heading to a shelter. One story said she had the children when she knocked on the door -- another story says she did not have the children. A story said she had the children, got no answer to her knocking, and lost her grip on them while trying to pick up a flower pot to break in the house. So what really happened?

so aggravated with stories saying she was desperately driving to seek shelter from the storm when she WAS at a safe place before she started driving. SMH

what about the SUV? did she hit a tree? did it stall? did it fall into a hole? did it get hit by a large wave and fall over? I'm wondering did she lose sight of the road and drive directly into the ocean, or the marsh grass where the kids were eventually found?

There has been so much conflicting info published, I don't know what to believe.

But at least one link said she accidentally drove the SUV into a hole where it stalled. As the water continued to rise, she decided to make a run for it with the kids. She set each one on the roof of the SUV, then a large wave overtook them all and swept the kids away.

Yes, she should have stayed home. But she's human and apparently she didn't realize the danger at the time she left. A lot of people have testified that the ocean water rose to unprecedented heights in mere minutes.

Tragic all around story. The mother should of stayed at her home as she was more likely safer than on the road. When there are evacuation orders, people need to heed them. People evacuate because of storm surge and it is deadly.

And another article about his 140 million dollar lawsuit and how he claimed he was discriminated against.

http://articles.nydailynews.com/1998-04-11/news/18064288_1_mount-sinai-medical-center-oral-claims

The guy obviously has some issues. When he said he couldn't help because he was wearing "flip flops and shorts" that pretty much summed it up. When the neighbor said he came out of his house the next morning wearing a towel...well that was another sign.

Problems or no....he didn't cause the drowning death of any kids due to bad judgement. The woman should be glad he was a flip flop/shorts wearing "I can't man-up during a crisis" sort of guy when she was attempting to break into his home.
