Doing good here, lights flickering on and off but I am ok. Over 500,000 without power here on Long Island though.
Do you have a generator? Are you able to watch the news coverage? Are you in the highest place you can be?

That's fantastic because I am sure a lot of people would tend to stay rather than leave their beloved pets! Was there buses provided for people who had no transportation? Do you know?

Hang in there, it will probably get worse before better! They won't be able to start rescue efforts until 7:00 AM. I hope it doesn't come to that for anyone.

Not sure. The post come from a local pet store here. I just thought that was great cause I know in the past even here when we were told to evacuate most of the places would not allow pets. If my fur babies can't come neither could I. I am sure it was for the people's safety to get them to leave.

Yes I am worried about LI also! It looks like such a small strip of land on the map and the storm is so huge! Are you able to watch the news coverage?

Just announced on CNN there are buses and people are encouraged to bring their animals, that most of the shelters are accepting them. They are reminding people to make sure their pets can be identified in case they get separated from their owners.

They JUST announced it? What? A Day late and a dollar short! Were buses offered days ago? God I hope this insn't another Katrina. I hope they learned how to better deal with a hurricane

Babylon Village is completely swamped ... I hope Native is ok. All the tunnels into the city are underwater, flooding in Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn ...

We Long Islanders are a tough bunch, we will get through this.

I read on Newsday that all 70 people who stayed on Fire Island through the storm have been accounted for. I can't believe that many people stayed on such a tiny island. Glad everyone was safe!

the exchange is closed. Trains are shutdown. wine rack is full. Im looking forward to it. but Its all fun and games until a tree comes through the living room.

How'd you make it through Sandy, bro? It's a shame you and your girlfriend broke up so recently. You could have used her to pass the time during the storm. Oh well, such is life I suppose. If you want I can always send over Fluke to keep you company? I'm sure he wouldn't mind. Hopefully he still remembers how to get to your house.

You are a sick puppy.

All is well by me. Thank you very much for the concern everyone.
Lost a little power, read some Edgar Allen Poe, drank some chianti, smoked a bunch of cigars, walked around in my pajamas alot, and most importantly helped a a few people out. A friend and I were joking around about going looting and then a national guard humvee drove passed my house with a machine gun turret on top.
