I has some time yesterday to watch utube videos when the case was young, (because I was in the naughty chair) and Missy said the dogs tracked the girls scent to the waters edge.

Thanks cinder, that's how I remember it too.

what in the world is going on

The delay is kind of disappointing. I am not in any way saying that the girls disappearing had anything to do with the family, but if it had, I was hoping DM's decision to plea out or not to plea out might put an end to the unknowns and if and only if, there was some connection that the girls would be released. I know this probably has nothing to do with anything, but it would have closed out one thing I had been waiting for.

Do you guys have any suggestions on how to ride a bike and video at the same time? Do you think that lady was holding a cell phone or a camcorder, and I was thinking about taping my phone to my head, LOL.

If you look back a few pages, you will see that the dogs did indeed follow the girls scent into the woods also. I didn't know that.

Got hubby talked into going to Evansdale tomorrow. I will be recording on my phones camcorder. I will start at Collins home and go past where the camera caught them and the onto Lafayette st, to the bike path and will go past the water lawn guys house to the lake. I will also record the woods and all aound where the bikes were found. Anything else?

Could you get also loop south from Brovan, across Morrell and north on Sipple?

What I'm curious about is that area on Sipple before Brovan where the businesses start (Chiro office I think). . .and well really that whole corner there. . .grocery store, bank, clinic, etc.

TIA!!!

I would love to see the most direct route, which is straight down Sth Evans, briefly onto Gilbert, then Lake, then across to Arbutus.

Maybe use a stretchy scarf to tie it to you?

Or maybe somehow mount it onto your handlebars?

Uhhh....bike helmet?

Cindersoot,

Whatever you decide to use--try it out now if you can. Make sure it works before you go to all the trouble.

And,

THANKS & A Belated Happy Birthday

If you are using a phone, make sure there is not a maximum time limit per video or you will get down an entire route and find out too late that the camera stopped recording 1/2 way there. (actually some non-phone cameras do this too). Basically just test everything to avoid frustration.

I had not read this, do you have a link?

TIA

About the dogs ... it's clear that the dogs have not been used anywhere except at the lake ... that if they were used a second time (which we haven't heard), it would be based on new leads.

July 18, 2012: "The FBI brought two dogs to the area to search Monday night, spokeswoman Sandy Breault said. Authorities did all they could with the dogs, and the animals won't be used again unless there is a new development, she said.
...
Authorities said Tuesday that they didn't know whether the girls had been at the lake.

"We have their bicycles, and we have the purse, and that doesn't tell me that they've been there, just that those items are there," Abben said."

The link you requested ... fairly generic "at the lake" information:

"In the Evansdale case, Breault said the dogs had indicated the girls’ scent was in the area near Meyers Lake.

“The scent did lead to the water, which is also where their bikes were found,” she said."

(I am having Font issues... Sorry)

ANYHOW...........

I can't seem to find anywhere that the FBI or LE said the dogs tracked the scent to the water's edge...

Only that the dogs tracked to bikes.

Only thing I can find is the family has stating they tracked to the waters edge and to the woods.

Thanks for finding all of those! Here's one from the FBI that they went to the water:

BBM:

In the Evansdale case, Breault said the dogs had indicated the girls’ scent was in the area near Meyers Lake.

“The scent did lead to the water, which is also where their bikes were found,” she said.

So I think she did say it at least once, unless they seriously misquoted her or they were paraphrasing and accidentally put quotes around it making it appear to be a direct quote from her. It isn't the clearest wording either. It halfway sounds like the bikes were at or in the water. By "to the water" she could just mean generically in that vicinity. I don't know. Confusing.

I've been looking and looking since I first read this and can't find where the dogs were "all over town." The only things I can find talk about them being at the lake. Do you have more info on this or a link to more info? I'd like to know more about where they did and didn't search.

(are there tracking dogs that can help find stuff in Google? ;) )

That's what I'm finding too. We know that the dogs were used at the lake, but any suggestion that the dogs have been used all over Evansdale seems to be completely unfounded.

Hmm that is very confusing. By her words she is saying the bikes were found at the edge of the water.

“The search has been expanded and now takes up probably about a five-mile-square area,” Abben says. “People on the ground along with dogs and then we also have law enforcement doing house-to-house (searches), making contact with people.”

I thought someone once said early on here that the river south was searched to a degree. They were talking about the low river level due to the drought I think. Were dogs used? Does anyone know or remember anything about that? I think a local said it, but I'm not sure. I may be "misremembering". MOO
