Ty Ayms for this news... even though the news sets my teeth on edge. Grrrh...

From your link:

Sorry you can't open link. Here's some more from link Ayms just gave us:

<snipped> ...is also awaiting trial for misdemeanor domestic abuse charges.

Trial in that case is slated for April 29 in Davenport, and prosecutor Brad Walz asked the court to postpone the domestic trial until after trial on the drug charges.

But defense attorney Kevin Schoeberl said Morrissey wanted to proceed with the April 29 domestic abuse trial, and Judge David Staudt agreed.<snipped>

The domestic charges stem from an alleged assault on Lyric’s mother, Misty Cook, that occurred before the disappearance. The pending drug charges stem from incidents between December and February, after the disappearance.

Morrissey is also awaiting sentencing after pleading to other drug charges connected to incidents before the disappearance.<snipped>

I'm curious. Hopefully someone with a little more insite to the laws, etc. can answer this for me. When they charge someone with conspiracy to manufacture meth, does that mean that they were one of several who were manufacturing? Does that make it a conspiracy? Or does this mean he could have been with people who were actually making the meth?

I'm not sure what the word conspiracy means in reference to these charges. To me, a conspiracy to manufacture means more than just being charged in the making of the drug.

Anyone know for sure why the word conspiracy is used? Or is that really the formal charge verbiage when one is arrested for manufacturing a drug.

Good catch!

bbm - I don't know answer for sure, but I've always believed it took at least two people to form a "conspiracy."

Conspiracy

One of the most frequently charged drug offenses in federal court is conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute a controlled substance, which involves actively planning with others to possess or distribute a controlled substance, regardless of actual possession or delivery. This is typically the most serious type of drug accusation and usually involves multiple defendants and large quantities of drugs and can be extremely serious and complicated.

Hmmm...I wonder why we haven't heard the names of the "others" that were arrested in this conspiracy. You'd think with all the hype about DM, the WCF Courier would have been ALL OVER this.:waitasec:

The park's design was inspired by the murders of young cousins Lyric Cook and Elizabeth Collins.

With a hefty price tag, folks have hit the streets to raise money to transform the island at Meyers Lake into space with lots of trees, flower gardens, gazebos and picnic areas.

What kind of hefty price tag would be surfacing on this renovation? My understanding was that they were using the funds ALREADY IN THE ACCOUNT to do this renovation, and that all work is being volunteered.

Sounds to me like the PLANS were made of what needed to be done, with no budget or costs in mind. NOW, after renovation has hardly begun, they realize they don't have enough money, so they are hitting the streets begging for money to keep the project afloat.

WTH is going on with this whole thing?!? :banghead:

I don't have a problem supporting the idea and the project. However, I'm not an idiot and I won't blindly support something that is not only grossly underestimated, but poorly managed. Intelligent people don't blindly support a project, regardless of the premise of the project. :(

I don't know, but from link and the video the island is quite sad-looking right now and the goose wandering around on the island seemed sad too. I bet that is the same one cindersoot saw the other day too.

Ms. Werk seems like a very nice lady with a lot of energy wanting to do good things, but you are correct 3CK intelligent people want to know what the plan is and as far as I can tell a lot of it was spur of the moment.

I just don't get this whole thing. From a small memorial on the island, to island deforestation and multiple gazebos, with no apparent plans or oversight. And suddenly a volunteer project has a hefty price tag.:waitasec:

Something is wrong. JMO.

As much as I am sure people would love to donate their time and services, it sounds like a million dollar project. I just don't think that kind of money was raised. I think the money that was pouring in when everyone was told the girls were believed to "be alive" have trickled down to nickels and dimes after the girls' bodies were recovered.

As an aside, the above article 3CK posted had no problem calling the girls' deaths murder so why can't LE officially call it a homicide instead of saying they are treating it like a homicide?

OT: One thing I learned in little Caylee Anthony's case was she was always worth much more money "missing and alive" than "found dead" less than a mile from her home triple-bagged and dumped in a swamp.

Excellent question. :waitasec:

An unusual silence...unless of course the co-conspirators are being protected by LE and have a plea deal themselves.

My line of thinking is the longer LE keeps DM in custody, the more they realize he had nothing to do with the girls' deaths. Even the State of Iowa doesn't want him. He's costing them money to prosecute him because he's so small time. Sure, he's got a rap sheet about a mile long, but he didn't have the brains to pull off an elaborate kidnapping hoax. He rode in to Meyers Lake that fateful day in July on his 4-wheeler like Mighty Mouse, "Here I am to Save The Day!" He thought it would be like the week before, Lyric would eventually show up and he would be the hero! I think he had more input in Lyric's life than we are allowing ourselves to believe and I don't think he had anything to do with their death. . . other than maybe by association.

Well.... that's where it gets confusing, right at the beginnings with the times and all. I think. . . we started with Wilma last seeing the girls at 11:30. Please correct me if I am wrong anyone.

Then the cctv video was released and the official time of the girls last being seen was 12:15. I do not know if that is the adjusted time. Mr. P says clock was 8 minutes slow.

I am not sure if they were captured on cctv before or after standing with their bikes in the parking lot, but I am pretty sure it was after the fact, unless the camera captured them twice riding around in a circle??????

Yes, I definitely think Elizabeth could have been at Meyers Lake the day before L and WC, but that is :moo:.

I am not sure what time L and WC arrived at the Collins household. I would like confirmation on that as well.

I am under the impression that the dogs captured both girls' scents at the lake per Sandy Brault, the FBI spokesperson.

Okay, I'm way behind again and apologize if this shows up in another discussion.

I remember when Wilma said she saw the girls at 11:30 and then changed the time later to be more in line with the camera time. She may have been right to start with. BTW, did LE check the actual time out themselves or just go by what the owner told them?

When Wilma looked out the window and saw the girls riding by, was she looking out the same window E & L looked out while they were fixing their drink? Does that window have the same angle and line that the camera did? In other words, does the camera and the window have the same view of the street that the girls were riding on when they were taped?

If the girls saw someone while they were fixing their drinks and it lined up with the camera, LE should be looking back to 11:00 or so on the film and see who might have been on it then?

I have thought that Wylma's time may have been right from the beginning.

I would certainly hope LE/FBI checked the actual time out themselves and would not just go by what the owner told them. From the article Sapphire linked yesterday (?), LE/FBI was still seeking cctv footage from anyone in September of last year - 2 months after the girls disappeared. You would think LE would not have to beg for cctv footage . . .
