I would concur with that, but only because the public defenders here in my state are lazy and don't put any extra effort into anything.

In regards to high profile cases, oftentimes, I high profile attorney, or other private attorney will take the case Pro Bono for the "advertisement" purposes thru media reporting. Case in point: Jodi Arias

Don't think that worked out well for him. Lost the case, attempted to write a book, and was disbarred.

She would have probably been better off with a PD.

With an offender of this level they absolutely do not just put him on a bus and hope for the best. It doesn't matter what is technically allowed under the law, it matters what the FBI standard operating procedures for dangerous criminals calls for.

Maybe you can call the FBI and Washington state police and let them know that you disagree with their decision and suggest some improvements?

He’s not changing the colour, he’s not selling the car. Changing the plate from PA to Washington. How does that help him?

Not at all. Many dedicated people make it their life's work. I know a couple.

BK still has an apartment in Pullman, WA the parents or interested parties, with his permission could make it their "home base."

I don't think the university would allow BK's parents to live in university housing, I assume that BK won't be registered for the spring 2023 semester at WSU. So no longer eligible to have that on-campus apartment. JMO.

I think because he wanted new plates; he would have been worried about the car being caught by a license plate reader or camera, and was willing to bite the bullet and put that vehicle on their radar by being located near to the crime scene.

I’m convinced that’s how they initially found him.

Hmmm. Didn’t work very well for him. I have been convinced he calmly planned these killings just to prove he could get away with it. I’m not at all sure of his reasoning now. Just very strange.

IMO to try to throw LE off his tracks in case they got his car on video. If they are looking for a car with PA plates ending in XYZ (illustrative) his car with WA plates ending in ABC wouldn't fit the profile.

Regarding the FBI : Laying out his options ?

I wish BK would forgo the trial and plead & throw himself on the mercy of the court, and in so doing, spare the families of the victims from a lengthy (& gruesome !) trial.
Of course we know this will most likely not happen.
He's going to fight it .

“We have fully cooperated with law enforcement agencies in an attempt to seek the truth and promote his presumption of innocence rather than judge unknown facts and make erroneous assumptions,” the family said.

The best advice the Kohbergers' could give BK at this time is to be honest and not lie -- as if he's caught it will go even worse for him.

So if they were looking for a white Elantra with PA plates (registered in his mother's name that was seen in Moscow at the time of the murders), they wouldn't contact her, and he would be the new owner with new WA plates, in other words the car would have a different identity than it did a week before, and maybe be harder to track down with changes just made? JMOO

Will we be seeing the probable cause affidavit? Does the gag order put limits on that?

Yes!!!!! 100%.

Yes and . . . We do not cite unsubstantiated leaked information or rumors but we all know the crime scene was described as gruesome with "tears" and "gouges" rather than typical "stab wounds" only per the father of a victim who was involved in at least two victims' records and also the ME. Then the scene is described as containing a "mess of evidence" from an alleged perpetrator, who was "sloppy."

So we have heard that some dna was found at the scene or else investigators learned from genealogical forensics tracking to a family member and given the traces and surveillance linked to the suspect, there was ample activity to try to collect dna from another source (e.g., garbage or cup, etc). I noted ID is not only a death penalty state but also a felony murder state so that even if murder is committed by one while committing another crime, including burglary, one can be charged with murder in the first degree. Idaho Statutes.

If the hyundai elantra was captured on the ring camera, maybe it was not as premeditated. If a suspect such as this one is familiar with the area then s/he would easily know the paths identified for us where they could park offsite or take a path, etc. I could see the rush to examine the affidavit and other information. But I also see where this could not constitute premeditated murder on some grounds and so far he only discussed not taking medication that would interfere with what the judge stated related to being extradited, etc. So we do not know nearly anything that this particular suspect has stated thus far.

I would see a really good attorney or team able to cast doubt on guilt without a reasonable doubt. When the suspect's father mentions the "shooting" in WA that very day as captured on the police body cam, it was honest and certainly a reason to seem keyed up. If there are all of these pieces of evidence left behind then it does not seem absolutely premeditated but with the burglary charge if there is proof what a suspect did constituted "burglary" at the time frame where murders occurred---then I am not sure how much evidence is needed or what the burden of proof is to charge someone with burglary and gain a conviction and then by extension for them to be guilty of first degree murder due to the felony murder statute in ID. I do also think the "education" component could figure into part of his defense strategy.
