So what's everyone's guess how he came into contact with the victims?He sure doesn't seem the type to hang with their type of group.

The scenario making the most sense to me is the one where he meets X and M, at the restaurant where they worked as servers. It had a large Vegan menu available.

My daughter and daughter-in-law and granddaughter are all vegans. So when we all go out we have a short list of nice restaurants to go to. We go to a few of them quite often.

I do think it is quite possible that he went to that restaurant often and he is known to try and hit on women who wait on him. He may have become obsessed with one or both of them? And/or felt dissed or rejected?

He could have easily followed them home from work one time and then begun stalking for awhile. Since one slept on 2nd floor and the other the 3rd, it makes sense that her went to both levels. And then ignored the lower level.

My guess, and just my opinion... I think he saw one of the girls, became obsessed with her, perhaps saw her at a restaurant or bar, then followed her on social media. Perhaps he had approached her and was rebuffed. Something perhaps similar to the Jayme Kloss case.

It depends if he’d chosen to formally relocate (i.e. file his tax return in Washington instead of PA). Furthermore, we don’t know that he was living with his parents in PA before moving to Washington. Maybe he was renting an apartment there. If that were the case, once he left that apartment for his new university, he likely would have formally relocated.

Don't think the address in important as a student. I have had multiple kids in different states. They usually don't make a ton of money (low enough for 0 tax), and the only reason to relocate is for in state tuition. I don't know every case, but often there is no instate tuition difference for grad school.

If this forum was like the legal process, no one would read it. Today I submitted a document that stated "Defendant denies the allegations in this paragraph of the Complaint" 137 times. That's it, that was the whole document. It took like 15 meetings to get there.

Plane tracking is absolutely thrilling compared to day to day legal work, I promise!

I am not familiar enough with crime scene procedures. Did Moscow PD, ISP or the FBI request this forensics expert's services? And now he can work for the defense?

From there I think he stalked them on social media.

You are probably correct. IMO. I was thinking leases as year to year, not semester based.

I think if BK is no longer registered in the spring, whatever lease he had for student housing on campus is no longer valid and the lease would be terminated. JMO.

It sounds like he was retained by the defense. The defense are allowed to review all of the evidence collected by the state, including bringing in their own experts. They got "lucky" (I guess? from the lawyer's perspective?) that he was arrested before the crime scene was cleared so they have the opportunity to look at everything themselves. Maybe the state missed something that could aid in his defense? At least that's their hope.

Can everyone in the US try for a plea deal to avoid the death penalty?

Used sometimes to lessen the cost of trial. If someones is obviously guilty they may be advised to take the plea deal to avoid the death penalty. Prosecution will take the plea deal at 100% rather than risk taking it to trial and loosing. Never know what a jury will do.
