"Fair & Impartial Jury" as Atty's Goal?
I recall a professor w extensive trial experience as a prosecutor & def counsel, saying many yrs ago: attys don't get to choose a jury; we just try to get rid of the ones we don't want or can't live with.
The JUDGE, not prosecution and defense, tries to seat a "fair and impartial jury."
Each side has a given number of strikes "for cause" & "peremptory" strikes and they use those challenges to exclude from the jury pool, ppl who are (or they perceive as being) unsympathetic to their side.
--- Prosecution tries to strike ppl who express bias against the state & LE gen'ly or specific persons expected to testify for the state.
--- Def. Atty tries to strike ppl who express bias against the def't, or specific persons expected to testify for the defense.
Doubtful we can say either side actually wants a truly, objectively "fair & impartial jury." imo jmo moo

snipped for focus. @SRWCF....I believe the prosecution and defense will go to great lengths to ensure that they choose a fair and impartial jury. They should easily be able to weed out any potential jurors who have been swayed by the social media and media nonsense by asking a few simple questions....
