Not the OP, but IMO there is truth in what was stated. Here is my POV:We do not have "Barristers" in the US, but the UK does.
Lawyers can charge whatever amount they want for their representation.
Just what is "old fashioned" about "courts, legal systems"?
Exactly what is "2023 language"?
If you were a judge, you would not lift the gag order.
Lawyers can charge whatever they want. But the cost of good legal representation is so high that many people do not get adequate to great counsel to defend them. Not sure of the solution, but the problem is serious.
2023 language would mean not clothing procedures in terminology only insiders/trained experts understand. Just because certain kinds of legalese is the current norm doesn't mean some changes that allow laypersons more understanding are not possible. Why not? It's no longer 1776.
If I were a judge, I would only issue a gag order for a very limited time & purpose. Why? Because free speech rights are so vital & fear is not the best tool in the legal toolbox. States with Sunshine Laws manage to reduce fear & release public documents. That is more in keeping with justice than judges imposing restrictions that keep the public in the dark. Competing viewpoints enrich the search for truth.
