MAY 22, 2023 -- LIVE BLOG FROM HEARING
After less than a half an hour, the day's proceedings are already complete - with the next hearing pertaining to the case poised for the beginning of October.
Before court was dismissed, the defense had asked the judge to set aside six weeks for the high-profile trial, with four being the minimum.
It was not yet clear if that request will be granted come October 2, when the trial is slated to commence.
For the next four and half months, he will remain in solitary confinement at Latah County Jail, where he has been kept since December.
Kohberger remained silent after the judge asked him to enter his plea - spurring the jurist to enter pleas of not guilty for the defendant himself.
The exchange came after Kohberger responded affirmatively when asked if he understands the charges - and penalties - against him, which could warrant the death penalty.
The prosecution now has 60 days to pursue that penalty following Kohberger's plea Monday - after which his attorney asked the judge for a trial date in October, to which he agreed.
Court is now officially adjourned.
Judge mispronounces victims' names while reading indictment to room
The judge is currently reading each victims name as he goes over Kohberger's indictment - mispronouncing two of them to the visibly dismay to relatives in attendance.
The judge mispronounced Kaylee Goncalves first name - spurring members of her family to shake their heads.
The jurist also flubbed over that name of slain University of Idaho student Xana Kernodle, who proscutors say fought back against her alleged killer.
Kohberger is silently reading along with his own copy of the indictment.
Kohberger has just been escorted inside the court.
He is wearing an orange jail jumpsuit and what appears to be a bullet proof vest underneath.
The judge, after reading him his rights and charges, asked the defendant if he understand the allegations leveled against him.
Looking straight ahead, Kohberger responded by saying 'Yes I do' - before taking a quick glance and the gallery and taking his seat.
Court is now in session.
The defendant’s family is reportedly not among the 50 or so citizens in attendance this morning - though there is also an overflow room where attendees are allowed to watch the proceedings remotely.
Everyone is waiting for court officials to escort in Kohberger - who had just arrived.
People are starting to file in the small Latah County Court in Moscow for the day's proceedings - though the defendant has yet to appear.
Proceedings, however are expected to begin momentarily, at 9am local time, with prosecutor Bill Thompson among those already in attendance.
Kohberger, meanwhile is expected to enter momentarily, ahead of entering his inevitable plea.
Here DailyMail.com will bring you all the latest coverage on Bryan Kohberger's arraignment in Moscow, where a judge entered a not guilty plea on his behalf for four counts of first-degree murder.
