Edited to add: I think it is quite possible he'd already resolved to commit a murder once he was out there well before he actually moved.
Yeah, I’m on the same page. You don’t just wake up one day and decide to stab four 20 year olds to death. MOO, he’s been wanting to murder for a long time and finally decided to do it.

The fact that he was in a doctoral program for criminology and studied at DeSales under a renowned serial killer researcher isn’t a coincidence, IMO. The dude has been obsessed with murder for a long time,

Again, MOO.

I think both types exhibit psychopathy but only one, psychopath, has a primarily genetic predisposition/origin.
Is that what they're saying nowadays? In my opinion (and only my opinion) I think the condition is caused by an infant going through a prolonged period of trauma; a defensive mechanism as it were, to protect the infant from the physical effects of stress brought on by the trauma.

I was responding to @Puzzles8 as the thread changed and I lost my post. I agree with your theory @rabidstoat , that steroids may have been a part of his aggression. Diet. I think he dedicated that summer to not coming back to school being the heavy kid that he was. New Year New Me. We then see that he gets started in boxing and running. His eating habits drastically change. This fella is lean and strong. His still very rigid with his eating. Possibly to the point of an eating disorder, but not anorexia. He seemed to have made a pivot over that summer, and then possibly started abusing drugs, and possibly drinking too. He represented that he did. I think it's entirely possible he started abusing steroids, and very likely one or more others. But those eyes. Something is just not right. Even a friend or two noted his eyes.

I thought this guy would have to be athletic. I was thinking upper body strength would have to be a factor. Possibly had on shorts and a college t., underneath coveralls, threw the coveralls, shoes, and knife in a bag, Ditches his coveralls and shoes in a dumpster or lake along the way. There are two routes he could have taken, both take about the same time. He'd be just another white sedan traveling home. He could've told his mother he was heading home the day before. He's young. He could drive 18 hours, maybe more, especially on an adrenaline rush, and he'd arrive about right on time. If he's truly a psychopath or some other path, he learned how to blend a very long time ago. He's a chameleon. IF he's a true psychopath, he knows right from wrong, so insanity would be out the window. JM2 All psychopaths don't go around murdering people. They adapt. IANAPsychiatrist, I just play one from my armchair. Seriously though, in every picture, the eyes have it.

So why were the two survivors spared? Any theories?
He didn't know they were home. I don't think they were spared, I think they were lucky. If he had known they were in the house he would have done the same. There is no reason or justification for his actions. We are just trying to, as normal people, to make a reason for this behavior. This investigation is going to be like a can of worms. I just really hope this is his first. Jmoo

Mad Greek restaurant has Vegan and Vegetarian options on their menu online. Maybe M served him.

Maybe even tried to get to know her and rejected in some form. Or she made a snide remark if he asked if food was prepared in separate pots/pans

It really seems like that Reddit post really made people forget the OG facts.

The police have said this was targeted since day one. They said we can’t tell you how we know, you just need to trust us. I think MPD should have earned a ton of trust.

Is this guy a sociopath? Absolutely, non-sociopaths don’t kill like this. But I still believe this was a targeted attack against KG that ended with 3 non-targeted deaths. She was the one leaving, she was the one recently single, and then throw in the Adam comment and it’s obvious there was something to tell.

I believe that KG and BK connected in some way - could have been as much as a date(s) or as little as a flirty exchange over instagram - people that know him currently have stated he was friendly so it’s not out of the question. The accounts of friends who knew him state he was socially awkward, prone to anger, and was bullied as a kid - so I believe that LG rejected him and he snapped. He thought he finally had a girl and it broke him - if he couldn’t have her, no one could.

So he plans to kill her, breaks in and waits in hiding. She sleeps in MMs bed, so he kills both. And then kills E&K who see him or he hears are awake.

There is no way that he went through all the trouble of planning a murder of a whole house, and then didn’t know or forgot about the other two. It just doesn’t track. And I trust that MPD has evidence, digital or otherwise, that KG was specially targeted - and the others collateral damage.

Criminality isn't a mental health issue. No evidence of a diagnosable mental health condition in this individual yet. I'll be eagerly awaiting more details.
MH sufferers commit crime at the same rate as non MH people.
It’s not an excuse.

They are both genetically based. The environment might cue certain levels of dysfunction that lean more towards a "sociopathic" outcome, but it is now accepted that both psychopathic factor I or II is largely genetic, at least thoretically. It's important to remember that psychopathy was essentially a construct used to explain criminal behavior.

He became what he studied.

If, and only if, he went to HVAC school, I'd be looking in the duct work at his apartment, office and parent's house for the weapon.
Omg great call.. look up LE

I agree.

And as collateral damage, people may now start side-eying anyone who goes into this field, even though practically everyone in that field has an interest in seeing justice be done and helping keep humanity safer.

The house in PA near the Poconos belonged to his parents. He also grew up in the area and attended school there as well. He moved to Pullman Washington around August 2022.

And I wonder if that's why the police more-or-less dismissed the idea of a connection between the two crimes, even at an early stage in the investigation. It suggests they've known about Kohberger for quite some time.

Particular, perfectionistic, probably? Or, it is often used to self-describe, "with my OCD, I had to check the spelling, you know". However, obsessive "ruminative" pattern of thinking, is difficult to catch, even for its bearer, and it might be very serious.
IMO, OCD is manifested by repetitive behavior and hoarding/collecting .Always washing your hands. Turning the light switch on and off a million times. Obsessive thoughts bring on obsessive behaviors. Stabbing someone over and over would be pertinent here.

iOS it possible that with his criminal justice education and being a TA etc. he used that as an excuse to obtain and watch LE body cam footage of different incidents in a variety of locations and after seeing at least one that we know of where there were people having parties at 1122 King street when the actual occupants weren’t home? Afterwards decided to ‘target’ or surveillance of the home to figure out if it would be possible to comment the crime?

Just curious

I have never heard of LR asking for more tips or saying the tip lines are open after an arrest. There is something else going on. Jmoo Makes me kinda scared.

It’s not an excuse.

No one called it an excuse? But also, people tend to jump on the MH bandwagon very, very quickly, even when there is zero evidence of it. While MH sufferers happen to commit crime at the same rate (and could you share a source on that please?), the majority of crime in general is committed due to criminality and not due to mental health. Anxiety doesn't make one plot and carry out a murder, for example, so the fact that a killer had anxiety is irrelevant to motive. That's what I'm saying.

I mean, look at us right now, obsessing over murder on a Friday night. Difference is we haven’t stabbed a bunch of college kids (presumptively). ;)

I think the accused is an Incel type. JMO at this time
That was my theory from the very beginning... someone who hates women and guys popular with them... feels like an outsider. Those murders show a lot of pent-up anger and hatred.
