For a criminology student, it seems he didn’t adhere to Locard’s Exchange Principle- that every contact leaves a trace.

I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade and I know everyone is excited that LE made an arrest. However, at this point he is still a suspect and with that comes innocent until proven guilty. We haven't seen what evidence that LE has and I feel we need to remember that.

Nope. We don't have to roll that way. I will not be sitting on a jury for BCK. But even if I were, I'm the kind of person who knows what the legal presumption of innocence means. I would abide by the dictates of the law and the court, as I always have.

But the law presumes innocence, not individual private citizens. The Justice system presumes innocence. No sane person does the same. If your neighbor breaks into your house and steals your stuff and is on your security cameras doing it, they did it - IMO, even if LE says your recording is dated wrongly or you didn't have the right sign on your door (this happened to me). Women who find out some weirdo is living at their apartment when they're not there (from lots of obvious evidence pretty quickly figure out who it is - but such people disappear just as quickly and are rarely prosecuted).

Or even society. OJ is guilty, guilty, guilty in my book and always will be so. This is my professional and private opinion. I taught for 12 years at a major police academy and still teach a field methods course that counts in the criminal justice program at my school.

If we all acted as if every person was equally innocent ("innocence" is a quality that implies "good" to me), we'd all be in a pickle.

I do not think we should go out of our way to say rude things about suspects, but we also are not required to respect anyone who has not earned our respect.

Yeah, he's not gonna give us a blood sample. Two aunts say he was vegan 4 years ago (I'll take that, I'm off the fence on that one). But more than one high school classmate mentions the heroin thing.

MSM is reporting about the heroin though, so for our purposes here we can treat it as fact if we wish.

I would say I read that a blood sample was taken when he was arrested in PA to confirm the previous findings of a match with dna from the crime scene, but I don’t have the link and I’ve surged too much to find my way back to the article….sorry..JMO

Decent. As expected. It must be unimaginable tragedy for them.
He is not only arrogant but also selfish egoist.
I was sort of on the fence about what his parents knew, and if they might have suspected something, but I'm gonna have mercy and assume they have no idea. I'd like to start the new year with some mercy for these folks until I know more.

Especially considering really nothing has been released by law enforcement.
Except for their statement that his DNA was found at the murder scene, and he drives a white Hyundai Elantra...

I think you (and others) may be correct on the incel angle. Incels also hate "chads" which are the guys that get the girls so EC could fit into that category.
I agree on the Incel thought.

Yes, but a round trip plane ticket would be a lot cheaper and way way way easier on everyone than the one way flight for dad plus then gas, food & hotels for the multi day trip home. And then BACK a few weeks later. It’s not the going home. It’s the complicated way it was done. All to get the car out of the area IMO.
It would make sense for him to get the car out of the area.
However, a plane trip from Pullman (let’s say) to Scranton, the nearest airport to the PA residence (right now, round trip, American Airlines) involves 2-3 stops and 15 hours and costs between $1600-2400. I don’t know what a flight would have cost in December, but generally from Thanksgiving through December travel is more expensive than January.

Driving distance is 2500 miles. Two people can drive that in two days. That’s why a second driver is helpful. None of that is to say that bk didn’t want to get the car out of the vicinity of the murders. But even with the father’s one-way flight, it was almost certainly cheaper to drive.

I could not agree more with everything you said!!

Gloves or no gloves shopping in Pennsylvania will have no bearing on the case. It’s really all about Idaho. Evidence gathered there. Stuff that is specific to murder. Linkage.
The FBI searched the home in Albrightsville for several hours. I believe they removed things. Evidence will not only come from the crime scene, unless it's a slam dunk case, which Imho is a confession. Imho

There’s no telling what they know or don’t know. Nothing really to discuss about it at the moment.

I do wonder if he had issues with empathy as a child or other potential developmental issues that were left unchecked. I’m not sure what the current research is in this area.

I live in Idaho and we are a very conservative state (lots didn't get the vaccine and didn't believe the virus was real) and I still see all types of people (young, old, male, female) at the grocery store who continue to wear masks and gloves. So, it would not be too weird to see someone with gloves on. Much to the suspect's advantage, I might add.

Just curious, have they stated what type gloves? I agree since 2020 it's not odd to see people wearing surgical gloves but could the ones he was wearing have been winter gloves?

Thanks @Cindizzi …thought this was especially interesting…

LaBar said BK recalls being asked whether he knew what was going on and he responded by saying something to the effect of "of course I know what's going on I live 10 minutes from this." Then, BK asked for a lawyer @LawCrimeNetwork

"5 to 15 minutes" is sort of a wide range :) Personally, I'm hoping it was closer to 15.

IMO, I wonder if BK stole something from the house, but was not the kill

I hope DNA connecting the killer to the murders comes directly from the victims. All 4 . Moo

There may be policy where prints taken for employment are not stored in a criminal database or even stored at all.
Its all coordinated through the state police if I am not mistaken.

Sadly, even confessions are not slam dunks.

Entirely possible that he brought evidence with him. And they were still looking for the murder weapon.

LE hasn’t even said how the white Hyundai Elantra was involved.

I can’t claim to know if he’s guilty or not, but let’s be honest, we likely only know about 1% of what’s really going on in this case. And the other 99% will be very important IMO.

Innocent until proven otherwise. That blanket covers the immediate family (parents) as well.

I suspect most parents couldn't wrap their minds around the possibility that their child could be guilty of this. Also we know that there were many white Elantras owned by students at the U of Idaho in Moscow plus however many at the U of Washington in Pullman. Surely the families of all of those students didn't suspect their children. Also, BK's car wasn't from one of the model years of the Elantra the authorities claimed to be seeking.

I wouldn't be surprised if his mother didn't suspect him at all. He's a Criminologist, she probably expected to discuss the crime and what his thoughts were about it, it's only natural for her to show an interest and bond with him when he arrived home.
By what I've read, she's been described as a sweet, kind person. Once she learns the truth, it'd be like a stab to her heart!
Where did it all go wrong, is he another abomination set on destroying lives for his own sick twisted pleasure?
Elliott Rodger's father said he wished his son was never born. The strongest words I've ever heard from a parent of a mass murderer!
