MOO, and my own thoughts.
Even before the crimes he was acting tired and worn out. I don't know if it was because he was obsessed with thoughts to do these horrible crimes. He might've been having a hard time keeping his mind on his studies because he was intrusively preoccupied with seething thoughts. So tired before the crimes... very interested to learn if he was targeting one of them, and watching and waiting.

I'm sure the murdering of the four students took a toll on the killer in some ways. This describes someone who wasn't sleeping well at all. After he actually committed the crimes, perhaps he felt on edge like impeding doom of an arrest could be right around the corner and was chattier from sheer nerves and an attempt to act "normal".

He kept it together enough in his behavior to go undetected though. Might've even drove all across country with his Dad and managed to not raise red flags. So, he has the ability to be guileful. JMOO

“I did notice he was showing up to class a little late sometimes, he always had a coffee in hand, he always seemed to be just perpetually exhausted,” said Roberts, who was also a graduate student studying criminal justice at Washington State University.

“Bryan seemed like he was on the knife’s edge between exhaustion and worn out and at the time it was extremely difficult to tell which was which,” Roberts said.

However, after the deaths of Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin, Roberts said Kohberger became chattier and more social.

“He did seem to get a little chattier going into the later parts of the term,”
Roberts said.

Roberts said the kind of stress and exhaustion he typically saw in Kohberger can be typical for grad students. It didn’t raise any red flags because he said Kohberger
didn’t appear to be falling apart in other ways.

MOO and BBM
I want to add that the final part of the semester before winter break is the most stressful time, compared to finals before summer break, IMO.
Between the very beginning of November and up until Christmas eve (When I finally got my Math grade!), I was stressed out beyond anything. I started getting aura migraines, not sleeping well, being snappy, not eating particularly well and so on.
So some of BK's behaviour could be attributed to it being that time of the semester too. I'm not making excuses or anything like that. The description just struck me as how I was feeling during that time and I'm not a killer.

Questions in Kohberger's research survey via DeSales University included:

How did you travel to and enter the location where the crime occurred?
After arriving, what steps did you take prior to locating the victim or target? Please detail your thoughts and feelings.
Why did you choose that victim or target over others?
Before making your move, how did you approach the victim or target? Please detail what you were thinking and feeling.
What was the first move you made in order to accomplish your goal? Please detail any thoughts and feelings at this point.
Before leaving, is there anything else you did?
How did you leave the scene?
After committing the crime, what were you thinking and feeling?

Yes. Notice that none of the questions have anything to do with concern about apprehension.

If I were to guess, he wasn't trying to commit the perfect crime (without getting caught). He wanted to experience this act in its entirety...and either didn't care about the ramifications, or didn't think about them. In my mind, I'm comparing this to his ability to lose 80 lbs in one summer. Determined. Obsessive. Etc.

Moo....and I'm probably wrong.

On the subject of HVAC, is it possible that the victims had been drugged by a substance in the ventilation system? I haven't followed the case as closely as many (or most) of you, but I can't understand how four people were murdered so violently without anyone hearing them. I get that they had been partying and might have been intoxicated, but were there no screams or sounds of a struggle by any of the victims? I had wondered about carbon monoxide poisoning earlier, and now that I've learned about BK's (alleged) knowledge of HVAC, I can't help wondering if something like this happened. JMO
Graphic but if a person's throat was slashed first, they can't make a noise..:(

"Press Release, Re Kohberger Family Statement"* dated Jan 1, 2023 includes this:

“Sincerely
Jason Allen LaBar, Esq.
Chief Public Defender
Counsel for Mr. Kohberger.”

Not on letterhead of Public Defender office. Haven’t checked for one. “Chief” suggests there is one?
Not on law firm letterhead (if he was appointed for this case).
No contact info, such as address, phone, email, etc.

Why lacking that info? Unusual, imo, but have not searched further.

Imo some reporters have things texted to their phone and take screenshots to tweet quickly . Might not show the original document in it’s entirety in their hurry to be first to report.

Here it is on letterhead:

Are we still on this topic lol? Who knows. All we can do is speculate. Some find it odd others not so much. How about just as a hypothetical maybe he was had a recent change in meds ( if he took any) and thought it better to have someone with him while driving until he adjusted to the pills. He may have told his father he was exhausted after the rigors of the course work and feared he may fall asleep at the wheel. He may just have wanted company. Why didn’t he fly? Who knows. Maybe he has some type of a phobia. Maybe he is a germophobe or just uneasy/ claustrophobic in airplanes.
The reason will be revealed in good time.
His lawyer says it was pre planned. Meanwhile endless threads go on and on about this - Why? His parents are being treated as victims for websleuths purposes
So it cannot be about them. Just my opinion
you did make me giggle.... with all your additional "speculation" comments!!!

I agree. I did think it was odd, my mind immediately reached for oh they must be tearing apart the duct work to find something. Now that I look back upon it though, I wonder if the house's heater was functioning. Maybe they just needed to ensure the house was kept at a stable temperature and there was an issue doing so. Still weird they would need to call out HVAC repair but to me it seems reasonable that it was for a simple reason like this. MOO of course.
Didn’t BK take classes re HVAC? Could he have tampered with the system and it had to be fixed? Not sure why he would have tampered with the system though.

Very well said .. Hopefully all will learn by discussing this and exercising our brains. If you see something, say something. Sad part is, there will always be psychopaths among us. Stay vigilant.
I am a newbie to WS and I must say that your post and the one by 10ofRods to which you responded (It's #84, as I'm not sure it will be repeated as I post this) are perfect examples of why I have found this site so remarkable. This terrible event in Idaho is intriguing in and of itself and it has been fascinating reading the “facts”, the real facts, and the many theories regarding the perpetrator and his actions and motivations. But what I really have appreciated are the insights that many contributors here bring to my understanding of human nature, and particularly when human nature goes wrong. I’m an old guy (turning 70 this year) and I’ve seen a lot of good and bad over the years in both my personal and professional life. I’ve learned a lot, but mostly what I’ve learned is I have a lot to learn! I really appreciate the thoughtfulness and willingness to share by the folks here. There is nothing any of us can do to help those poor young souls who had their lives snatched away nor much if anything we can do for their families. But I believe that the sharing of insights and knowledge that is occurring on this forum will help someone down the line – maybe in a little way; maybe in a big way (IMO). So, I just want to say thanks to those of you who put in the effort to help us all understand a little more.

interesting.
So his family will be in court tomorrow at the extradition hearing, according to BK's attorney in PA. Two sisters and his parents.

yes to most likely to turn the heat on so the pipes don’t burst.
There is that! But I would think the heat should have already been on, the residents were still living there prior and IMO CSI wouldn't arbitrarily turned it off when they entered the home to process it

That could easily be that he is just laying on his bunk facing away from the door and the camera... Speculating here, but I would imagine that is the way most people in jail would act or sleep.
Plus why are these guards giving interviews to the media??

I did read someone comment that 'he was on the ground' facing a wall... and I haven't been anywhere but websleuths today... so there's that.

This article makes me sad. If person or persons who witnessed all of this cruel and anti-social behavior toward another human being would have tried, in some small way, to mitigate these events, perhaps many many lives could have been changed and saved. I'm aware these sentiments apply to all tragedies of this ilk but am specifically speaking to the Moscow murders.
I wonder if that was a reaction, however, to his behavior? The woman Quoted says that he didn’t take no for an answer and this came across as “creepy”. I notice males weren’t bullying him.

I also wonder if he meant to kill everyone in the house (coming in on the second floor) but stopped after a certain point due to fear of getting caught? If he had been stalking the occupants of this house there were five beautiful young women that he may have targeted.

I for one do not believe it until I have another source.

You think so? I thought so immediately as well, but was persuaded by others' opinions. I sincerely hope so and am waiting impatiently to know. Sticking a GPS tracker on his car, though, would have been cheap and easy (and allow them to send teams out to search for evidence disposal at each place he stopped - but the reason I thought they had an actual car following him is so that LE could roll up to every place he got gas/ate/stopped to check the trash and surroundings for evidence).

Oh, I hope so. "Well choreographed ballet" is a phrase that's making my New Year's Day much more happy.

Which he surely had to have (both in terms of rules and everyday reality).

No group of people more likely to turn someone in for not having a permit than other students,
IMO, the theory of an actual car makes more sense for reasons you stated. It would also explain the addition of 60 more FBI agents added to the case on December 19th. It would make sense, IMO, for them to have a kind of relay race hand-off going on at certain checkpoints to avoid a specific car detail being detected by BK.

ETA date additional FBI agents added

Personally I do not see any issues with his age while attending college. Not everyone comes from a well do family with the financial resources or the encouragement to continue their education.
Not everyone has clearly established goals at a young age; life circumstances such as Military Service, becoming a parent at a young age, battling illness etc. can be barriers.
I graduated High School and received a 2 year Associates degree at 19. Sixteen years later I continued college, taking afternoon and evening classes in pursuit of my Bachelors of Science degree while working full time. I received my degree (summa *advertiser censored* Laude) at age 43.
Many people in my classes were my age or younger.
Higher education has no barriers other than determination.
I agree. Some of were just trying to determine what exactly he's been doing since graduating from high school. There seams to be gaps of time when he wasn't working fulltime or attending school fulltime.

This isn’t necessarily true. Sometimes circumstances keep brilliant people from participating in the usual routes to “success,” while mediocre people get forwarded by privilege.
<snipped for focus>

So true.

I avoid flying in and out of small/regional airports. It's very expensive.

When we fly to Wisconsin, we always fly to Minneapolis or Chicago. Even flying to Milwaukee ups the price!

He likely flew from Philly.

If he flew from Allentown, he probably took a flight to Philly or another large airport.
definitely truth! Small airports are so much more expensive, AND often use smaller bouncier older planes.....
Pretty obvious that I agree with you, eh?

The possibilities and timeline are open-ended. That will be a tough item to bring out into the light. Only the killer knows for sure, and we don’t even know if BK is the killer. He’s only been charged as the person responsible.
I've been reading for hours on here today
That’s the best!! I’m sure we all do in our race to catch up after taking time to sleep or eat or LIVE!! Lol. The flow on here is amazing with LOTS of great info to be gleaned. I enjoy everyone’s input and banter. Even in the midst of such an event…we all find common ground in pursuit of Justice. Like a language with moves all its own, it’s a beautiful song and even better dance. Keep on posting…and reading!! The fundamentals of WS’s!

I don't find it weird at all. It's pretty heartfelt and accurate.
IMO the poem and mom submitting it to the local paper would seemingly indicate that the family had discussed Uvalde and maybe the threat that mass/school shootings are to our society. Was BK trying to one up the mass murderers who choose guns as weapons? Attempting to show that gun violence is not the only violence that threatens all of us? Scary…

There are functional drug-addicts, just like there are functional alcoholics. You'd be amazed, nobody would ever guess...
I only mentioned it earlier in the thread because If it is true, if the boxing became extreme, the diet as well- it points to a personality type that can be addicted, have to have control over things. IMO it could be part of the big picture of this person, more insight to his thinking. JMO, everyone is different and we don't know for sure. Just, my brian is similar- I've never killed (take spiders outside even) - but I do understand obsessive thinking and needing to have something to control. It sucks and can be life consuming. Some people's brains just work that way. All totally MOO.

IMO the LE never said they were trailing the car but merely said they tracked the car to PA. Big difference in tailing or tracking. IMO the tracking was after the fact. The car was in PA for about a week before the 4 day surveillance began prior to the arrest. If they tailed the car, why would LE not observe it for the week period before the surveillance began?
IMO LE did not have enough evidence of the perp prior to the car leaving Idaho. Just my 2 cents and my opinion.
The traffic stops appear to be strictly incidental for violations. This is second hand information from the appointed Atty anyway. MO
Thanks!

I think he already knew about the ramifications of getting caught as he has surely studied them. He knows mass murderers and serial killers are studied by many, written about, etc. However it is hard for me to reconcile him wanting to commit this act for the act and also for the notoriety or even competition at the same time. But, that is exactly what it seems like to me. Although I am far from educated on the subject. MOO
