Yes there are -

"Cell phone pings that show who he followed or came in contact with."

Bryan Kohberger stalked Idaho victims before murders, wore gloves in grocery store weeks afterward: report

Cellphone data shows that Bryan Kohberger, 28, was often in the same location as the three sorority sisters and one of their boyfriends before he allegedly slashed them to death as they apparently slept at an off-campus house, a source close to one of the case’s investigators told the Daily Mail.

Kohberger also seemed to be careful about not leaving fingerprints in public even as he fled to his native state of Pennsylvania in recent days, the anonymous source told the outlet Sunday.

“He’s not stupid and has been very careful,” said the source, who claimed to be “good friends” with one of the cops who had surveilled the murder suspect in the days before his arrest.
According to a "source".

I don't think it's known yet whether venue will be changed. But apparently Latah County doesn't have a DP-qualified prosecutor? So a nearby prosecutor with the proper qualifications was arranged. MOO

I don't think the prosecutor has to be qualified to request the DP. It's the defense attorney that must be so qualified, in order to ensure that a person who might possibly be executed gets competent and qualified representation.

Anne Taylor is a criminal defense attorney, not a prosecutor,

Is this not typical of a defense? I’d assume they think LE is biased, and want to do their own investigation. I thought this was standard.
It is a bit unusual that he already has Idaho counsel and that said attorney has already coordinated with what is described at private investigators to inspect the scene. I am wondering if he anticipated his arrest and had already arranged counsel to be prepared.

Can someone remind me- on the day he was arrested, or the night before, was the family holding some sort of press conference, meeting, remembrance, or something? For some reason I thought there was some sort of public event about the case.

Insanity is often not what people think it is either. IIRC it’s just knowing the difference between right and wrong AT THE TIME you committed the crime. So trying to hide/run/etc proves alone someone knew what they did was wrong.

If he were alive today I'd guess Mr. Jewell would disagree. You never know. You hear about people getting out decades later after finally being exonerated. Sure not the norm, but it is exactly why we have the Bill of Rights.
99% of the decades later cases were exonerated because of DNA found the perp all if not most were convicted on other things, not because DNA pointed to the wrong person

A prosecutor doesn't need to be DP qualified.

It's absolutely confirmation bias on my part and I know that but BK just looks really eerie to me. Seeing him live in video just feels a bit unsettling given what we know about this crime.

There was a celebration of life that afternoon for Maddie and Kaylee

There’s a chance that he could be charged with a Hate crime, gender based. Unfortunately we do not utilize an underlying misogyny as motive enough in the US. IMO
I remember the Carringtons (Carole Sund's parents) thought Cary Stayner (Yosemite Murders) should be charged with a hate crime as all four of his victims were women.

Carole Carrington, who lost her daughter, granddaughter and a family friend to murder, is taking her story to Washington to tell federal officials that the slaying of her loved ones was a hate crime.

Carrington, who lives in Eureka, expects to testify before a House judicial committee today. The committee is considering legislation, the Hate Crimes Prevention Act, calling for the expansion of the federal hate crime statute to include gender, sexual orientation and disability.

It is, and it's just beginning. Ms Taylor did not waste any time. She knows what she's doing.

Totally standard.

I think we'll find she was appointed for him. If he wants to substitute his own lawyer, of course he will. But I think they wanted him to have a PD before his feet ever set foot back in Idaho.

Thank you both, what an embarrassing goof. I edited my post. I think I'm courtroom dyslexic...

Maybe so.

I just figured a public defender might not have the resources to hire private investigators.

Because of the publicity and how small Moscow is. Seems it would open the door for defense to claim he cannot get a fair jury in Moscow.
But a county that is host to the university is likely to be much more liberal and thus less inclined to impose a death sentence.
