In this FOX interview with a forensics expert, the expert explained that the coroner did not see the bodies until much later than the norm. (See link to video below. Another member posted it yesterday) He further explains that the formulas used to determine time of death based on rigor mortis, algor mortis, etc cannot be used effectively.

Any ideas on how LE was able to estimate the time of death? If I am not mistaken LE is currently saying between 3 and 4 am.

What would be law enforcement's motive for releasing that information? Perhaps they are aware that the perpetrator is following the case and they want to the perpetrator to believe they have determined the slayings occurred between 3 and 4.

Edit - it is also noted to be "homicide" I don't know if that was how it was entered that day in the call log, or updated later. But in general it sounds like they knew they weren't responding to a person who fainted.

I hope that LE examine and investigate where KG may have stopped for gas, food, and coffee etc., on her way back to Moscow.
She is described as being open and friendly and may have excitedly spoken about the adventure she was in or where she was headed to a friendly clerk or waitperson or gas station clerk etc., which may have been overheard by another (unsavory, psychopathic) customer who then followed her to Moscow, and murdered there. I hope they track where she was and review tapes from the places she may have stopped.
I remember reading about something like this happening - some (3?) young men were going fishing in a remote place in or near their hometown, and they stopped at a dollar store on the way and chatted openly about what they were doing and where they were going, with the friendly clerk. Unknowing to them, the customer in line behind them was listening in, and rounded up accomplices and
followed them, and killed them.

It also assumes responsibility for that information. They are essentially telling people that the information they have is dangerous if it's in the hands of the public.

That's a good question. As for me I really can't think of an answer with what we have been given. Maybe the neighbors?

IF you weren't familiar with the outside of the house and you wanted to scope out potential entry points Halloween would be a great time to do it. You could disguise yourself and not raise suspicion

I will stop posting about the 911 calls after I just say this – – I do think it’s important for people to trust what’s being put out there by the police, and if something makes no sense whatsoever, then how is the public supposed to believe other statements they’ve made? I personally don’t need to know of course, but the people who live in that community might need to know. The police have said that they were targeted, which implies that others in the community are not in danger. If you can’t make sense of what they’re saying, how can you trust that you’re actually safe? I think there are plenty of examples where doctors and people of authority have gotten the facts wrong, especially in the case of a chaotic scene.

If we can trust what law enforcement is saying, then if the perpetrator(s) are following the case, then they/he/she can as well. Law enforcement needs to act in a veil of reasonable secrecy to protect the integrity of the case. It must be a delicate balancing act for them to get info to the families without risking info getting into the hands of the perpetrator.

If there was a big noisy party going on in the field near the home at the same time as the murders (revealed by the police blotter info) that may explain why the surviving roommates did not hear anything. As well as why the murdered roommates did not hear anyone entering their home.
Also, maybe the call about the noisy event was placed by the killer to distract the police.
Also, maybe some or all of the roommates briefly attended the field party and were

I keep coming back to ruffied/roofied too. I was ruffied/roofied in 1989. For all I know there are new drugs and they put them in drinks everyone was drinking like they did everclear in the jello shots a long time ago. Which could also explain why the room mates on the 1st floor slept til almost noon. Like Fentenal? Or? I just cannot wrap my head around anyone sleeping through all those murders (or being caught off guard after previous room mates were murdered), the victims not screaming and the the live room mates not hearing them. Except if they were drugged.

Just describing my thoughts and experiences, all IMHO.

Depending on which room the perp was in at the time, he may have seen the police lights or heard the siren and got spooked. The time of the 911 call fits in the 3 to 4 AM time frame in which LE believes the murders occurred.

And it happened at 3:01 am, just as the victims were falling asleep. (The last call to J was at 2:52).

Those are definitely some crazy coincidences if they are coincidences.

Speculation / new theory: one of the victims (maybe one of the two with the 4.5 hours missing in their timeline) called the police on someone. That somebody got extremely angry, followed them home, and killed them.

Yes and it also means the police were in the area after responding to the call. At or around the 3 am to 4 am killing window they allude to. I wish it said when they got there (does it say that anywhere?)

...There has been lots of speculation that the killer was interested in one of the women. I wonder if he could be gay, possibly not out of the closet and conflicted about his sexuality, and have been interested in Ethan. Perhaps he was angry with Ethan for not returning his overtures and with Xana for being the object of Ethan's affections.

I am a nearly 70-year-old gay man who has lived in cities on both American coasts and, off-hand, I can't think of a single case where that happened. (I assume it must have happened somewhere, gay men being human beings and all, but I don't think it's common. All gay men have to learn not to fall in love with straight guys, and the overwhelming majority of us do so without resorting to violence.)

The "homicidal pervert" used to be a common trope in movies, but that had more to do with screenwriters' homophobia than trueness to real life.

What's an alcohol offence? Options include noisy partying, hollering, singing or fighting. Or underage drinking. Or property destruction?

Okay I understand that, but why was no one asking about the other victims cars?

It's the recentness of the purchase along with it's being an expensive vehicle that brings it to my attention. I'd be interested in the recent purchase of any big ticket items made by any of them. Or any vacations, even camping trips, or weekends spent in unusual places.
