In my humble opinion I believe this is a revenge killing related to the house and not a specific person. Revenge for what? That is the only answer we need. The problem with this is that it implies that the house had wronged someone. If the student body does not have any ideas then it must be a local resident. Does the house have a name used by students to describe it? grasping at straws here.

<snipped for focus>Is he just going with the general theory that the killer would want to be at the service or is there a specific person he knows would have to be there?
Yes, I think he is just going with the theory that the killer would likely show up at the service.

Thanks for the information. I do see an entry at 3:01. Seems pretty close to the time period. Is Band Field the field between the frat house and the crime scene?

Absolutely. "Targeted" does not imply a previous relationship per se, only that the perp decided that that victim was going to be the one. That decision could be made in as little time as a day, few hours, minutes, etc.

(In the Cheshire home invasion for example one of the perps saw the mom and her daughter at the grocery store that afternoon and followed them home. He hadn't known of them previously.)

Apparently the Grub Bus is the only late night food stop which everybody goes to ( Everybody who's left the bars & clubs at closing) It's like the central locus of activity in the early hours at weekends.
It's location also means that it would provide opportunities to scope out vulnerable people

Grub Bus livestreams on twitch, but IDK how many nights a week they do that.

“Potential for maximum shock value” I wonder if that’s what we have here?
Mass shootings come to mine. Also Jim Jones. With mass shootings, usually the killer dies or knows they will be caught.
So, they do things for shock value knowing that this is the end of their crime spree and often their life. Terrorism is another example where shock value is used.

Serial killer avoid getting caught. They probably do enjoy everyone being shocked at the crime, but that isn't their main goal. I remember Ted Bundy wanting details of his crime scenes being kept under wraps. He said, "Everyone is eyeing me like I'm some kind of weirdo". He did not want people to know what he did to the women.

Has anybody been keeping up with the jail roster? Someone was booked yesterday then charged with Agg Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Are 911 calls public information? I know the 911 call about the murders is being held back but, in general, are they available? I ask because I'm wondering if any other 911 calls came in that night/morning that could be related. Like a dispute somewhere else in town that potentially might have carried over to the house.

Depends on jurisdiction and no, they are not generally publicly available. Some jurisdictions keep logs of the calls, using a system where the time and type of call is public. Others provide a small amount of local detail.

I believe 911 calls used to be more available until youtubers and podcasters started routinely using them, causing controversies at the local level (victims' families very unhappy about it...at the top of the list of complaints).

If this is the first big case you've followed, you'll find that it may be quite a while before the slow process of bringing justice begins to spit out much information that websleuths find helpful.

I'm fairly certain that field between the frat house and the road is called band field.

I had a thought. Hard to keep up with threads so I'm not sure if it has been mentioned yet.
I keep going back to the "coincidence" of Kaylee going back to college after being away just to show her friends her car and then this event occurs.
Maybe there was actually another reason she went back that weekend and whatever that reason may be is what resulted in the subsequent event.
Could also explain why her parents seem to insinuate she was the target.
I wonder if any of these kids had a big crypto currency loss or gain

IMO, people weren’t necessarily speculating that it was related to the murders but they were shocked at the fact that LE was right across the street within the timeframe of the murders.

how annoying for LE they have to make a statement whenever rumours run rampant online.

So sad reading Kaylee's obit and seeing survived by her furbaby Murphy :(

  • #233
The obit actually lists all of her siblings, one has a different last name.
One sister is married, that's why she has a different last name.

That is a fact that came from Kaylee's family quite a number of threads back in the context of: Maddie was so much of a sister for Kaylee that she was a bridesmaid at the sister's wedding, along with Kaylee and the other sister(s).

It is buried in the article. The coroner is quoted for one thing, and then others ("experts") discuss what the coroner said which is not directly quoted in the article. The discussion refers back to what the coroner released. It was early in the timeline.

This is a perfect example of inference. The discussion refers back to something that was stated clearly by an authority, but by the time the public gets the information we have to infer through what is discussed by the media. I wish they'd have quoted the public authority more deliberately for clarity.
I read the article you linked. The coroner does not say that the knife had a hilt in this article. She said victims were stabbed multiple times with the same weapon.

However a store owner revealed that investigators were asking him about the Ka-Bar knife.

One could surmise that this type of weapon was used in the crime since investigators are inquiring about it.

MOO - There is no way this was committed by a woman.

You can get the same knife, not a knock-off, from Amazon for $89.99, and have it delivered in three days.
Or find a used one at a garage sale for next to nothing.

I liked reading her obit and learning what a wonderful and 'real' person she was. Her family even included a few true but very minor downsides to her character, can't even remember what now, but they added something like 'sorry Kaylee but it's true!' But it was sad too, I was tearing up.

or who wanted in state tuition

University of Idaho's tuition is $8,396 for in-state and $27,632 for out-of-state students. Compared with the national average cost of in-state tuition of $11,286, University of Idaho is cheaper.

Holy cow, college has gotten ridiculously expensive. When I enrolled as a freshman at the U. of Ky. back in 1977, my in-state tuition was $272/semester.

I'm fairly certain that field between the frat house and the riad is called band field.
seems every frat and sorority live next door to each other on that same street. Think Sigma is the 2nd of 7 or 8 houses

Right, and I mentioned that in my comment. The "experts" cite the coroner's statement. That's why I wrote that by the time we get it, it is inference and not a direct quote.
