I read it to mean tips as in money being sent to the truck workers.
Heartbreaking she never got walk in her graduation in Dec :(
Any of the motives that have been discussed here. If (for example) the perp was a fellow frat member and also secretly had a thing for one of the girls (or secretly held a grudge against one), the 'excuse' to stay at the house could have been a pre-planned invention.
the thought that maybe it was an out of town/state guest at E's sisters event earlier is circling my mind. Endless possibilities like he spent time with E&X there then ended up at E's frat, poss. encountered K&M at the bar etc. I'm feeling an out of town/state vibe tonight after MPD released call for info on the Hyundai.

With them opting to release body cam footage of the 3:01 alcohol incident, IMO they had to release the statement about the white Hyundai as the video has been analyised and sleuthed.

But I do wonder though why now? Why not last week or the week before, for arguments sake? Is this intentional; release body cam footage and then release the car statement? Or have they not progressed in finding who the 'occupant(s)' might be? Was the car reported stolen from a neighbouring area and yet to be found?

Just my thoughts upon new information.
a TIP, they said.
Maybe something as simple as a few people walking home late on the night of the murders happened to notice a smell of weed/loud music/an argument/people drinking in the vehicle which happened to be parked where a good view of the house and all it's windows could be seen.

Or maybe it's a red herring and the real perp's vehicle is actually an entirely different colour make and model?

OR maybe someone in the red car dropped the perp/s off at the house?

If the perp(s) is actually on the body cam footage as some are suspecting this means the murders were completed and he/ she/ they were leaving the scene a little after 3? This means K &M were attacked while they were making their late night phone calls.
Could have parked, sat and waited til house went dark and quiet. Etc.

If u google maps down Queen towards King and look up King street you can see a light colored 2011 Hyundai parked near the other party house. U can also see a blue civic that looks similar to X's car. The pic is from Google maps Oct 2021
Edit: TooMuchGun linked the car he was talking about. Different cars. Disregard this post.

Hi, this is my first time posting on this thread, and the first time on WS for a long time. This case fascinates me.
Your post really intrigued me, so I looked this up on Google maps. Not having a screen shot to show you, I'm not sure if we're talking about the same cars or not, but there are 2 older model white cars that strongly resemble Hyundai Elantras parked in a small lot of a house next door to K,M,E and X's house. After much maneuvering, I was able to zoom in on the hood ornaments/brand insignias for both white cars. One was a Subaru, and the other was a Kia. (Gotta love HD) As I mentioned, without screen shots, I'm not even sure if we're talking about the same photo, but these were on King Street, by the house next to the girls house.

I apologize in advance for the incoming long post. I was listening to a podcast today (True Crime Garage: Idaho College Murders) and they shared the arrival times that have been shared by other sources & throughout the threads. However, it got me thinking.

If I remember correctly, X & E returned home at 1:45am and K & M returned home at 1:56am. If I’m walking in around the same times as my friends (and with food), then I’m probably staying up for a bit eating, chatting, laughing, etc. The murders happen sometime between 3am & 4am. This is where I get stuck.

Part of me thinks that the killer had to have followed them home and sat outside watching & waiting for them to fall asleep. But, then I think that maybe it was completely random and the killer had no idea about the movements of the people inside that night. It’s just my opinion that one hour is a very small window of opportunity to commit 4 gruesome murders.

This is exactly what I theorised...
  • I believe this was an individual that was mentally troubled (inwardly or noticeably external, doesn't matter). At the very least someone who has thought about, fantasised or may have even discussed ways they would commit such a crime.
  • Some sort of triggering event sets off the perp, whether it was personal or off-hand to any of the victims I don't know and won't confidently theorise.
  • They either know the location of the victims' home, or follow any one of them home - I think it's safe to assume any of the 4 victims and not the 1st floor survivors.
  • The killer is perched up behind the house in the tree line; they watch both couples come home in close proximity (10 minutes tops) from each other, interior lights flick on in the kitchen/lounge room illuminating the 4 congregating on the second floor together. Sitting in the dark outside with the only real light source coming from a very visible and large sliding door would give the perp a clear indication of occupants and their condition (drunk, laughing, etc) at the time. In the dead of the early morning you may even hear clear conversation - who knows.
  • The perp waits from around 2am, victims head off to their rooms or the bathroom, lights flick on and off in various locations - finally the house goes dark and quiet.
  • The perp waits for some buffer time to let them fall asleep, enters quietly through the sliding door on the second floor and the rest is... well we can only imagine.

IMO if the killer was well known to the victims then the attack would’ve been following some type of falling out (eg break up, fight, theft, betrayal, etc.). If that were the case than I doubt the perp would’ve been welcome in the house/it would be weird to the occupants for he/she to want to be in the house around them. Because of that opinion, I can’t see the perp having gone back to the house with any of them or been invited to stay. I believe that if the killer knew the victims and killed as an act of revenge (so to speak) that they snuck into the house rather than the occupants being aware they were there.
In this scenario i would think their friends would be able to help them with such info of this behavior and they would already have the perp imo

Idk! I go back y forth about several different aspects of this sad case.
When I first mentioned it to my son, who is the age of the students, he said “Sounds like revenge.” Definite anger issues.
Same here. Has there been any info released about the type of knife used in the stabbing attack of the couple (the male died and the female survived)?

On news tonight...LE asking for help identifying occupants/driver/riders of a 2011 to 2013 white Hyundai Elantra. Vehicle apparently seen in the area at time in question. Yep "s" plural per the news announcer.
Report was on ABC News #World News Tonight.

Where did you see pics of the car? The pics in the press release are stock photos, and not actual photos.

The body cam footage from the alcohol-related incident in the park next to the house shortly after 3AM the night of the murders was released about 24 hours ago, and the interwebs instantly honed in on a white sedan driving past...

Is it possible the murders occurred before 3:01 AM and the car was leaving town or is that reading too much into it? My opinion.

Where im at right now is SK/psycho. I believe if it was someone close they would have them by now. The lack of sexual assualt however could lean either way and they just dont have evidence. In think he lives close. I think this was the right opportunity( no party going on). The time of year does not sit well with me. Halloween was just 2 weeks before. People get caught up in these movies im telling you. A new Scream was released as well as a new Halloween movie. Someone has also informed me that a new ted bunday thing was also just released. I think we are looking for SK in the area that has a horror movie infatuation, lives alone.

how many hyundai elantras sold in the US 2011 2012 2013?

cars sold in the USA

Hyundai Elantra – US – By Year
Yearsold
2010132,246
2011186,361
2012215,854
2013247,912

these cars come in (eek) 21 or 22 colors these years- 3 of which are shades of white. Hyundai Elantra Touch Up Paint & Paint Color Codes | TouchUpDirect
Just for a ball park estimate, 1/50th of the cars sold in the USA would be about 11,000 (ID being one out of 50 states- and hey, maybe many more sold in CA or NY) and 3/21 of that for the "white" ones, about 1500, and some are crashed and off the road by now... so probably a limited # in northern ID on 12/7/22 IMO. (I also know that some cars in ID are from another state, but for the sake of an estimate....)

The four murdered roommates arrived home before 2 AM. The two living roommates arrived home around 1 AM and went to sleep.

Madison and Kaylee brought food home, and made 7 phone calls until almost 3 AM. They are confirmed alive at 3 AM. The murders can apparently be confirmed as having happened before 4 AM. How do police know this? No idea. Maybe one of the victims was wearing a fitbit, where increased heartbeat was detected, then heartbeat stopped ... before 4 AM?

I think this was premeditated, and that the killer knew where the target lived before that night. I think the killer spent time on the hill behind the house looking into the bedrooms.

I think that the killer and at least one of the victims had at least one prior interaction - might be something as insignificant to the victim as passing on the street. Something triggered the killer to get some fantasy in his head regarding the victim and a hunting knife ... premeditated. He might have followed the targeted victim that evening, perhaps the killer parked near frat party cars and walked around behind the house, sat on the hill, looked into the bedroom windows.

Lights went out around 3 AM. Wait 30 minutes for everyone to pass out sleep, enter through the damaged patio door.

Right, but she didn’t disclose that X had defensive wounds, only that “some” did, which I think is the point the OP was addressing. JMHO

You are right. It is X's father who says (in the article) that she fought back.
