What's the best course of reasoning LE released their desire for a specific model of a vehicle approximately 2-weeks later? Whilst taking in to account there is (at least) a single Ring camera that leads into 1122 (information confirmed by Kaylee's sister) upon a single entrance leading to the home.
There’s also a parking lot and road up the hill behind the house, as well as traffic and parked cars on nearby Taylor. Perhaps asking for all footage between 3-5am regardless of obvious motion yielded a clue, even if the clue was a car in a parking spot at 3:30am but not 4:30am as reported by two different dash cams. I don’t know how long dash cam footage is retained. Or could be it was an early tip that LE explored locally themselves before requesting broader public assistance. Or someone recalled an unusual interaction later on and called it in. JMO.

Idaho murder victim's family hires local attorney amid frustrations with police probe

Kaylee Goncalves' parents hunt for answers 3 weeks after college student slayings

FIRST ON FOX: The father of Idaho victim Kaylee Goncalves has hired a local attorney amid a souring relationship with police and concerns over missteps in the quadruple homicide probe.

The family recently retained Shanon Gray, of Gray Law Criminal Defense, whose cases have ranged from kidnappings to drunken driving arrests.

Gray, who began his career as a prosecutor in the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office, recently moved from Portland, Oregon, to Moscow, Idaho, Kaylee's father Steve Goncalves told Fox News Digital.
I wonder why criminal defense? I suppose the practice could cover other areas of law too. (edit: DEFNITELY NOT implying anything, I just thought it was odd)

IMHO-The perp is likely a marginalized person, rejected by society (or one of the girls), and full of rage. But not so full of rage as to incriminate himself. MOO- The perp is a male and probably of very large or athletic build. Someone not intimidated by another male in the house. Someone with the ability to cover the victim’s mouths, and hold them down, while stabbing them. Someone with the strength and confidence to “finish the job” if somebody was able to fight back. I would want to know the location of every college football player in a five-mile radius that night-starting first with any that share a class with the girls. I’d be checking on every delivery driver, mailman, Uber driver, etc. anyone who had been to the house. Any disputes with neighbors? Any missing animal disputes? Old grudge from high school? Kids these days literally text about every detail in their lives. If the texts do not contain any leads than it increases the likelihood that their murders were the result of a random interaction(s) that caused the suspect to fantasize and plan the attack. I’d be combing through all of their Instagram and Snapchat followers, as well as their Facebook friends for anyone who looks out of place/ or possibly using an alias or fake account. I’d want to see as any livestream activity which can attract a stalker.

It's not too much of a stretch to think that a disturbed man might regard them as representative of everything that is inaccessible to him - and for his attraction to them to turn into a psychopathic rage because they are beyond his reach.
Well said.

I agree with sexual has being the primary rage inducing motive in such a possible motive, followed by jealousy of social success as you also stated.

I wonder if, however, any of the victims were from wealthy backgrounds? Or, as wealth can be relative in small towns, relatively wealthy backgrounds?

Such a possibility may lead to a "tifecta" of motives for a rage induced attacker: Young women who are attractive, socially active and wealthy- the three things that the rager cannot obtain.

I think the Elantra must have been a stolen vehicle, otherwise police would have identified it by now.
Not really. There's 7 minutes of a suspicious car (Nissan Altima) footage in the Missy Bevers case shortly before her murder and the suspect has neither come forward nor was the car tracked down. Let's be honest, unless the car's plate numbers are visible, there's not much chance to catch it unless the person driving the car comes forward himself.

Also, if you’re in a parking lot and see a similar car. Do you wait for the driver and then surreptitiously take a picture?
Not if you wanna end up dead…JMO

If it's the Shanon Gray I'm thinking of, then this case gets more bonkers by the day.

I suppose criminal defense attorney hiring could be because offered for free?

I think the Elantra must have been a stolen vehicle, otherwise police would have identified it by now.
Or it was borrowed by a family member and they can’t bring themselves to suspect or incriminate the borrower. For example, a college-aged person borrowed their grandmother’s white Elantra. Grandmother hears about the murders, then later the car information is released and she can’t bring herself to believe grandson is responsible or report her grandson to police.

It could also be borrowed from a friend and there is a belief they would be “snitching.” Snitches get stitches, or end up in ditches…etc.

I believe they have the idea of who the killer or killers are. The last press release again indicated that there was no specific threat to the public which is the only reason why I don’t think this was random/a serial killer.

MOO the killer/killers have been interviewed and they have alibis that LE is having a hard time disproving. This is why they want to speak to the Elantra owner.
Yeah there are several things LE has said in this case that sound like they may be trying to break an alibi, like the comments about being interested in the investigation not events when urging people to come forward or that videos and photos that show someone where they're not supposed to be. MOO

I don't think they have a photo or video footage. I think they only have a report from someone saying a car of the description was near the crime scene.

I also think LE has a valid reason for asking for help finding this vehicle although the ask may seem too vague in the opiníon of non-LE.

You ask is it fair to report to LE or for LE to stop anyone driving or in possession of such a vehicle. Because of the seriousness of the crime, I think they do have cause. This is not a hit & run. It is mass murder. JMO!

Cops set up drunk checkpoints on some holidays. As long as civil rights are observed, such stops have been declared legal, I believe.

I am not in favor of guilty until proven innocent approaches by LE since it violates Constitutional rights but there are exceptions that are valid IMO. Overreach tends to be litigated so that protects rights at least to a degree.

MHOO
For one thing, asking people to look for the car makes it less likely the car will go into a junkyard or a crusher or a paint shop to change the color.

True and I imagine there are not many PR law firms in Moscow.

I'm currently unable to watch, but is the gas station in reference on Taylor (from 95)?
Entin said it was with A&W which you could look up. Sorry I don't know the street name.

Just because there were no victims found on the 1st floor does not mean the killer did not go to the 1st floor.

  • #616
Goncalves surmised that they died in Mogen's bedroom on the third floor because "there are photos of Kaylee's room with no blood on the bed."

Source.
This photo is of the window to the right of the slider in the kitchen. If you look in the upper left corner, you will see part of the cabinet above the fridge and there is something seeping from the sheet rock above the cabinet and running down the cabinet door and wall to the right. This area is directly under what has been identified on the layout diagrams as Kaylee's room. I don't know what that substance is but I have a suspicion. This leads me to think that something happened in that room.

Complete Xana and Ethan's timeline, decide "Why a knife?", and you've solved the case.

I am so stuck on this

Press release from Nov 14: (day after murders)
The Moscow Police does not believe there is an ongoing community risk based on information gathered during the preliminary investigation.

Press release from December 12:
Regarding the safety of the public, police recommendations for safety measures are good reminders in general, and in light of what has happened in this community. These reminders are not an indication of a specific or elevated risk to the community.

What information could they have learned so quickly after the murders that could justify staying this?
