He should be innocent until proven guilty in the court of law. It influence the jury and public to have the prenotion that he is guilty and anything the defense could say would not matter, which is not a fair trial. Prior similar statements in other cases normally say something along the lines of "due to evidence, tips and leads, we are confident we have the right suspect in custody" but not straight up state that the suspect is guilty. There is normally room for the possibility of innocence to make sure the trial is fair
He’s innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, not by the police. The police do not have to presume his innocence.

I am doubtful about the fingerprint, but more than sure he left DNA mixed with DNA of at least of one of the victims.

What escapes me is the rage he committed the crime with. If he was motivated to kill because of his research, why the rage? Rage is a very personal reaction as well as the choice of knife as a murder weapon, so he must have known, albeit perhaps not as close friend, at least one of the victims, especially if we take in account the LE hint of targeted crime.

We may have to prepare ourselves for more shocking revelations in this case.
The "rage" may not have been against the victims. I have always felt this was a young man who did not know the victims.

I’m on page 29 and posting is hard to do with 2,300 plus people on the site- but CNN is saying a source reports that BCK arrived home just before Christmas.
So where was the car stashed all that time?

No. He is apparently enrolled for Spring. IMO.

Doctoral programs are typically three years. He got a Master's from DeSales. He entered WSU Fall 2021.

I wonder if they'll let him take online courses in jail. He's still innocent under the law. Most jails don't permit it, but some do. What a bizarre possibility.

I suspect WSU will place him on an interim suspension and he will not function as a student. He’s a threat to the health and safety of the campus community.

Wow so some reporters are just walking up to his parent's front door? Why do reporters have to harass the parents like that? Didn't think they could do that.
Yes, that was weird!

You are correct - I had misinformation at that point. So he arrived in August or thereabouts and committed a quadruple homicide 3 months later.

I wonder if this is his first time really living away from home, being solo, having the actual opportunity. So reminiscent of Attias and Rodger at UCSB. The stories I'm hearing about KB's youth are chilling, really. Moderately red flags, but so many young people fall into the same category.

Where did he get his Master's in criminology? I thought DeSales didn't have such a degree. Is that confirmed and if so, where, please?

Yep. I totally believe they had a full profile AND a suspect - and that they went to the suspect's home and got DNA from a car door or trash or whatever. Easy peasy. Even if just parental DNA, easy to connect him.

No need for genealogical research if you have the parents' DNA. From the trash. Or a car door. Or a McDonald's cup.

For me, I think a jury will be highly impressed if DNA from the victims from blood cells is found in that Elantra.

Juries have a hard time understanding DNA, but they will understand this case. Having hard evidence that he had victims' blood in his car is the clencher, putting things beyond reasonable doubt. IMO. Highly valuable at trial.

No photos needed, just expert testimony and a description of the DNA sampling from the car. I wonder if it will light up with luminol or similar. At any rate, very hard to destroy all the DNA from blood cells. Even with bleach.

Which makes me think that maybe his criminology studies didn't include much bioscience.
CNN is now reporting DNA was a familial match done from a database. This where I'm hearing it: CNNgo – Watch CNN TV live if possible start with AC 360º

Orthorexia: Definition, Signs, Symptoms, and Treatment

https://www.healthline.com › Wellness Topics › Nutrition

However, for some people, a focus on healthy eating can become obsessive and develop into an eating disorder known as orthorexia, or orthorexia nervosa.

I attached an article I pulled from PubMed.

We believe that the change in eating habits marks a break in the perception of self and the personality of the person which often characterizes the development of schizophrenia (Nelson et al., 2009).

Does he already have an attorney? If so do you have a name?

My guess is that he’ll have a temporary attorney back in Pennsylvania, and then get a permanent one at some time after he arrives in Idaho.

I just edited my comment to state this before seeing this reply. I agree, they dont have to presume his innocence, but they cannot determine his guilt either.

I thought this was in bad taste, too. I just saw another reporter post a video on Twitter of her walking around his apartment complex in WA. Desperate for anything, I guess, and still punishing people who had nothing to do with this.

I kinda think in reality that the officers body cam footage releases ,has aided this investigation. I do think that key information was gleamed by the public from the video's and reported back to the LEO's.
I think the DNA is probably big and the Feds probably helped with that, plus the Feds apparently followed and staked out the suspect in PA. I think the Feds helped a lot. I think the local unit was small and needed support.

I’m very happy the killer has been arrested. However, I think I have even more questions now.

CNN is now saying they identified him by genealogical DNA.

CNN:

Genetic genealogy helped investigators identify the suspect, a source with knowledge of the case said. DNA found in Idaho was taken through a public database to find potential matches for family members, the source said. Once potential family matches were found, subsequent investigative work by law enforcement led to the identification of Kohberger, according to the source.

I know one thing, I personally feel a lot of relief to know a suspected mass murderer is arrested. It creeped me out that the murderer was wandering around.

If they really did use genetic genealogy to find him, this would would be the first time it was used this early in an investigation.

[…]

Two former classmates said Kohberger attended classes and finished the semester at WSU after the killings.

BK Norton, in the criminal justice graduate program at WSU in Pullman along with Kohberger, said they were in all four classes with him last semester and that Kohberger attended through the end of the semester.

Ben Roberts, also a graduate student in the program, said the same. He said he didn’t notice much change in Kohberger other than he seemed to be late quite often.

“He was starting to show up really tired,” Roberts said. “He’d always have a cup of coffee in his hand, and he kind of looked like he was riding the knife edge between worn out and completely exhausted.”

The DNA sourcing/matching is amazing. Incredible what they can do.

Terrible choice of words Ben!
